This is Mawi on a small day. About 20 - 25 minutes west from Kuta. The last bit of road can be a bit tricky. Swell magnet which works best from a 3ft ground swell. Provides hollow lefts and rights although on big swell's the left is more consistent. Best in dry season, very shallow on lower tide.

Beach scenes from early in the morning at Batu Bolong beach in Canggu, Bali.
There was a 2-3ft swell running at low tide (0.6m) and some fun waves to be had. It was busy with lots of intermediate surfers on longboards, so there were lots of drop ins especially on the left hander!!!

Picture a pristine beach flanked by rocky cliffs facing the vast Indian Ocean. That would be an accurate perception of Balangan Beach. An excellent location to photograph the sunset, Balangan beach is also a rather well known surfing spot, so there are generally quite a lot of surfers here.
The white sandy beach is soft and gentle but the rocks on the beach here are very sharp, so I recommend wearing reef shoes if you're going swimming. Some of these rocks are covered in green moss. On an ordinary day and at low tide, usually there are not that many people visiting this beach, that is the best time to come if you are not into surfing. Low tide is also the time when the sea reveals its beautiful corals. They bring additional colors to decorate this beautiful beach.
The beach is lined by several laid back warungs serving traditional seafoods, local meals, and, of course, beers. Yoga and surfing lessons are given out here too.
As soon as you get here, if you look to the east of the parking lot and walk up to the cliff, you'll find an ideal photography location, and also for cliff jumping if you are a thrill seeker. From that spot you can photograph the beach and its stunning background. This area is often filled with photographers at both sunset and noon time. Walk to the eastmost edge and look northeast, you will be able to see the airport with Kuta's lights as the background.
Overall, whether you're a photographer or just someone who wants to enjoy the sun, you'll probably enjoy the beach. So I recommend that you pay a visit to this wonderful place.
