Oil Workers Union Workers on Strike
Your back up plan for when a union strike, company layoff or company closing happens is internet marketing. Start now so that you have things in place when the strikes and layoffs happen. Waiting means that you will rely on your savings and if laid off, unemployment. If on strike? Just your savings. How long will that last?
When will you begin worrying about putting food on the table?
When will you begin worrying about losing your home?
Strikes and Layoffs in 2015 - happening now:
Workers at nine US oil refineries and chemical plants across four states, producing some 10 percent of the country’s fuel, went on strike after their union announced that negotiations on their salaries and safety concerns failed.
The mass walkout of refinery workers – the first since 1980 – took place on Sunday, after the United Steelworkers union (USW) rejected the fifth offer by the industry’s main negotiator, Royal Dutch Shell Plc, which in turn halted talks.
PostRock Energy Corp in Oklahoma making the 3rd announcement of layoffs this year:
Chaparral Energy and SandRidge energy laying off workers.
2015 Layoffs in Illinois: McDonalds, AT&T Credit & Collection Center, Kenko Logistic Services, Quincy Compressor, Rick River Academy & Residential Center, Market Day LLC, Nutrition Headquarters call center, Concentra
2015 Layoffs IBM - not sure of the numbers just yet, but if there's a rumor then we know it will happen:
2015 Layoffs at EMC, after having laid off 1,000 in 2014.

DAVID CAY JOHNSTON: LIVING IN TRUMP'S AMERICA
While Twitter feuds and Russian hackers dominate news headlines, President Donald Trump’s administration is radically changing the policies and programs that define the American way of life. In their first year, the Trump administration’s efforts to defund Obamacare, repeal LGBT protections in the workplace, impose tax cuts and deport undocumented immigrants have significantly impacted millions of Americans, all while the mainstream media has struggled to keep up. Beyond the tweets, firings, scandals and indictments, how will Trump’s policy agenda continue to affect our daily lives?
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Cay Johnston says he has the answers. Since 1988, Johnston has been chronicling Trump’s personal life and business dealings—from his casinos to his marriages and beyond. In his new book, It’s Even Worse Than You Think, Johnston is going where the media won’t—into the weeds—to shed new light on the Trump administration’s policies and bureaucratic choices and how they will change America. Join Johnston for a revealing conversation about the Trump administration’s impact on our finances, health care, safety and much, much more.

GOOD MORNING AMERICA'S HOMEPAGE:
Askwith Forum // Chicago Public Schools: A Transformation Story
A conversation with Dr. Janice K. Jackson on life after 30 years of education reform.
Speaker: Dr. Janice K. Jackson, Chief Executive Officer, Chicago Public Schools
In conversation with: Dr. Deborah Jewell-Sherman, Ed.M.’92, Ed.D.’95, Gregory R. Anrig Professor of Practice in Educational Leadership
In 1987, former Secretary of Education Bill Bennett said he wasn’t sure if there was a school system worse than Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Today, thanks to the deliberate work of educators, community leaders, parents, universities, and partners, CPS is receiving national acclaim and the district has emerged as a model for accelerating academic growth.
This forum will discuss the transformation of CPS, focusing on major reform efforts, including accountability, school choice, and data-driven student intervention. And it will dive deeply into the district’s strategy for recruiting, developing, and retaining high-quality and empowered school principals to continue this transformation.

Casino Tells Jackpot Winners Machine Malfunctioned
More from Inside Edition:
While some people are lucky enough to win big at casinos, the hardest part can sometimes be collecting the winnings. Inside Edition’s investigative team has found people who thought they'd be taking home huge earnings, only to discover that wasn't the case. Katrina Bookman, 44, hit a $42.9 million jackpot at Resorts World Casino in Queens, N.Y. She posed next to the winning machine as it displayed her earnings. As a crowd started gathering around, security showed up.
Urbana Lincoln Hotel
Joseph Royer designed this striking five-story English Tudor style structure with distinctive steeply-pitched rooflines and exposed cross-timbers. It opened to the public on November 1, 1923 — just before Homecoming Weekend at the University, with the Illini — and Red Grange — playing in Memorial Stadium for the first time.
Rahm Emanuel vs The Chicago Teachers Union: Political FUBAR
Rahm Emanuel is locked in a battle with the Chicago Teachers Union which may change the future of education in the United States.
Today is the second day of the Teacher's strike here in Chicago, and as Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Sunday night, The kids belong in the classroom. He's made a lot of other statements about how our kids should be in the classroom and how this was a strike of choice on the part of the Teacher's union, but when he says our kids he's not actually talking about his kids because they attend a private school. Just like Mayor Daley, before him, put his kids in private schools. And President Obama has put his daughters into private schools. And when you ask a lot of politicians about their choice to opt out of the Public school systems, which they run, they tend to get a little hot under the collar. Rahmn Emanuel once walked out of an on camera interview when this subject came up, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie practically blows his stack when you ask him about his kids being in private schools. And this, I think, is the real reason why politicians on both sides of the isle are giving up on public education, throwing more and more of our limited resources into Charter Schools, essentially moving toward a strategy of privatization of our schools. They're trying to assuage their guilt. They want to be able to look voters in the eyes and tell them that they, too, can send their children to private schools and that the government will pay for it. But the dirty little secret of Charters schools is that they can, and do, turn away anyone they don't want to deal with. If your kid has a disability, the Charter schools will explain to you that they aren't equipped to handle it. If your kid is a discipline problem, they're gone. If your kid isn't very bright, they don't want him because he'll drag their test scores down. And I know all of this because my wife is a Chicago Public Schools Teacher and she has seen, first hand, kids getting tossed out of Charters because their GPA drops, they become a discipline problem, or because English isn't their first language and they have trouble keeping up since most Charters don't offer ESL services.
And in fact, if you're a kid who's parents are too busy or too dysfunctional to jump through the hoops to get you into a charter school, you're just shit out of luck, because without a strong advocate you're not getting in. Although when its all said and done, Charter schools have been shown, in a study by Stanford University, to be doing no better than the public schools at educating our children. All they've been shown to be really, really good at is providing cover for politicians like Rahm Emanuel who are running schools which they never attended themselves and to which they will never send their own children. And if that isn't Political FUBAR, I don't know what is.
