On the night of the 7/5/15 ships gathered in Cork Harbour and shone their lights at the water to remember the tragic sinking of the Lusitania on the 7th of May 1915
Cobh Pastimes Launch of Lusitania Photo Exhibition 2015
Cobh Pastimes were delighted to put together the exhibition for the commemoration of the sinking of the RMS Lusitania. We sourced glass plate negatives that were not digitised being held in the National Library of Ireland. The collection by the Studio Photographer, A.H. Poole, were a rare and unique find.

Description
100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Lusitania
The Defence Forces provided appropriate ceremonial for the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Lusitania off the Cork coast, in Cobh, on Thursday 07 May 2015.
Several military representatives were involved in the Ceremonial. The main body being a Lieutenant NS Guard of Honour drawn from the Naval Service consisting of 106 personnel of all ranks.

Lusitania Commemoration May 2015 - Flotilla, Funeral Procession and Cemetery Ceremony
Lusitania Centenary Commemoration, Cobh, County Cork, Ireland.
On 7th May 2015, at sunset, a flotilla of boats sailed to Cobh from Roches Point, symbolising the return of the rescue boats full with victims and survivors. On 10th May 2015 there was a reenactment of one of a number of funeral processions from the centre of Cobh to the Old Church Cemetery.

The Cunard Liner was hit by a U Boat in 1915 off Kinsale . The town of Cobh (cove) commemorate the 100 anniversary of the sinking.
Lifeboats and fishing boats rowed or sailed over 20 nautical miles out to the liner. Boats also went out from Kinsale and Courtmacsherry, as well as boats fishing in the vicinity . Over 700 people were saved - but over 1200 lost their lives on that day as the great liner sank in just eighteen minutes.
