2014 June. Embarked a sightseeing boat for Lysefjord from Stavanger of Norway. The magnificent trip took 3 hours. There was sufficient time to stroll around the city after the boat trip before getting back on the cruise ship.

Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock ) Lysefjord Stavanger Norway
The Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) is no doubt the best known tourist attraction and has been a magnet for tourists for over 150 years. The characteristic mountain shelf 604 metres (1980ft) over Lysefjord has been visited by hundreds of thousands throughout the years.
From the Preikestolhytta, a 7 km traiI climbs the rest of the 350 metres (1148ft) to the top. Good shoes and physical health are necessary for the 2 - 3 hour hike.

Lysefjord and Pulpit Rock Cruise Stavanger Norway
Lysefjord is a fjord located in the Ryfylke area in Southwestern Norway. While onboard the ship one can see the magnificent and famous Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), the beautiful Hengjane waterfalls, and the breath-taking scenery of the islands and the fjord.
Forgive the shaky videos and not so good edit. I have this gopro in a while but never use it too often. There´s a lot to learn and discover on this action camera. I´ll try to use it every single travel my family will have.

Lysefjord by boat, Norway Stavanger
Lysefjord is a fjord located in Forsand in Ryfylke in south-western Norway. The name means light fjord, and is said to be derived from the lightly coloured granite rocks along its sides.
The fjord was carved by the action of glaciers in the ice ages and was flooded by the sea when the later glaciers retreated. Lysefjord is an extremely popular tourist attraction and day trip from nearby Stavanger, from where cruise ships travel the full distance of the fjord.

Mit knapp 70 km/h geht es bei traumhaften Wetter in den fantastischen Lysefjord, vorbei an Inseln, Buchten und traumhaften Wasserfällen. Auch der weltberühmte Preikestolen war bei diesem Wetter bestens zu sehen. Er liegt 600 m oberhalb der Wasserlinie des Fjords.

Stavanger is the 4th largest city in Norway with a population of around 320,000 in the entire metropolitan area. The city was first established as a military and economic center around the 9th and 10th centuries. Officially, the city is considered to have been founded in 1125 when the Stavanger Cathedral was completed. This was our first chance to get off the ship and walk around town. This was my very first time setting foot in Norway, the home of my Norwegian ancestors.
