M.R. Kukrit’s Heritage Home in Silom, Bangkok (Video 1)
The House served as the fifth pit stop in The Amazing Race 19. M.R. Kukrit's House is a heritage museum on South Sathon Road in downtown Bangkok, Thailand, dedicated to the former Prime Minister of Thailand M R Kukrit Pramoj (1911–1995). It consists of five teak houses, the earliest of which is more than 100 years old. The reception hall was used for public purposes (receptions and banquets) and for religious ceremonies. A raised platform in the center was designed for performing traditional Thai Khon dance, with ornate masks for the dancers displayed on the shelves.

The homes contain artifacts, such as a Chinese altar given by Deng Xiaoping as a gift and old Buddhist scriptures.[1]
As a traditional Thai home, the garden plays a key role in the design of Kukrit's house. Two low walls on either side of the garden connect the main hall in front to the houses in the rear of the property.[1]
In the dining area, two vases are displayed, gifts to Kukrit from Mao Zedong of China. There are many tributes displaying the late prime minister's affection for dogs, including paintings.[1]
Left of the reception room are the living, reading and music rooms; on the right, a room which is used as a shrine for Buddhist prayer.

I’m in the process of updating my Bangkok eBook, called eBook: 101 Things To Do in Bangkok, and so on today’s Bangkok vlog, we headed first to meet a friend at Thong Lo BTS station. From there we walked to Napa Place Bed and Breakfast ( - affiliate link), a place I wanted to check out and see if I could recommend it for the new edition of the ebook update. It turns out, Napa Place is very nice, in a good location not far from the BTS skytrain, and it has a real home away from home feel to it. It’s a type of place you would like if you want a quiet classic place to stay.
For lunch we went to a restaurant called My Choice, located on Thong Lo Soi 36. Although the restaurant was quite slow and not very busy, the food was pretty good. The best dish at the restaurant we ate for lunch was the green curry served with roti, I thought that was excellent. After eating lunch, we had a quick coffee and then continued on our day living in Bangkok.
We jumped in a taxi and went to MR Kukrit Heritage Home, the home residence of MR Kukrit Pramoj, an very important and influential man in Thailand. He was an author who wrote over 150 books, and he was also the 13th Prime Minister of Thailand. His home, includes 5 different teakwood buildings. MR Kukrit Pramoj spent many years of his life decorating and preserving his house. Another part of visiting the MR Kukrit House was the amazing garden outside, which is filled with a lotus pond, bonsai trees, and flowers, The house is not overly big, but the traditional Thai style of it is what is really impressive. I also loved visiting the house in the middle of Bangkok’s financial district of Sathon. There are skyscrapers and banks in the distance, but the MR Kukrit Heritage Home is a haven of a botanical garden and tradition in the middle of modern Bangkok. Entrance price was 50 THB.

Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, is a sprawling metropolis known for its ornate shrines and vibrant street life.
The boat-filled Chao Phraya River feeds its network of canals, flowing past the Rattanakosin royal district, home to the opulent Grand Palace and its sacred Emerald Buddha temple.
Nearby is Wat Pho with its enormous reclining Buddha and, on the opposite shore, Wat Arun with its steep steps and Khmer-style spire.

Top 4 Museums to Visit | Bangkok Travel

Planning a trip to Bangkok? Learn about the top four museums to visit and what makes them special in this travel video.
Bangkok is in many ways Thailand’s cultural heart as well as its capital.
Visiting Bangkok’s museums is a great way to learn about Thailand’s fascinating history and appreciate the art it has produced.
Thailand’s first Prime Minister had a deep love for Thai and Asian culture, and it’s easy to see from what he left behind.
Visit the M.R. Kukrit Pramoj Heritage House to learn about his life and many accomplishments, and to see his collection of art and furniture.
To learn more about Thailand’s history, visit the National Museum. The museum houses a world-class collection of Southeast Asian art, as well as artifacts from the royal collection, such as jewelry, ivory, and even palanquins.
The Vimanmek Mansion Museum also has an impressive collection of the royal family’s artifacts, but that’s not the only reason to visit. The mansion itself is worth seeing -- it’s the biggest gold teak building in the world, and its architecture is uniquely influenced by Western style.
Perhaps most impressive of all is the royal family’s collection of ornate ceremonial barges on display at the Royal Barge Museum. Included in the collection is the Suphannahong, the king’s personal barge.
Bangkok’s museums will give you a better understanding of Thai art and history, so be sure to make time for a few during your visit.
