Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca in Bologna Italy - Drone Video
The Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca is a basilica church in Bologna, northern Italy, sited atop a forested hill, Colle or Monte della Guardia, some 300 metres above the city plain, just south-west of the historical centre of the city.
While a road now leads up to the sanctuary, it is also possible to reach it along a 3.8 km monumental roofed arcade (Portico di San Luca) consisting of 666 arches, which was built in 1674-1793. It was meant to protect the icon as it was paraded up the hill. A yearly procession from the Cathedral of San Pietro in the centre of Bologna to the Sanctuary goes along this path. Originally the arches held icons or chapels erected by the patron family.

A church or chapel existed on the hill for about a thousand years. Tradition hold that in the 12th-century, a pilgrim from the Byzantine empire came to Bologna with an icon of the Virgin from the temple of Saint Sofia in Constantinople. In 1160, the bishop of Bologna Gerardo Grassi assigned the icon to a small hermitage-chapel atop the hill that was tended by two holy women, Azzolina and Beatrice Guezi. Construction of a church began in 1193. In 1294, some monks of the Dominican order from the monastery of Ronzano came to the site, and the order remained here until the Napoleonic suppression of 1799.
The present church was constructed in 1723 using the designs of Carlo Francesco Dotti. The lateral external tribunes were built by Carlo Francesco's son, Giovanni Giacomo, using his father's plans. The centrally planned sanctuary has painted artworks by Domenico Pestrini, Donato Creti (second chapel on right); Guido Reni (Assumption in the third altar on the right), Giuseppe Maria Mazza in chapel of St. Anthony of Padua, Vittorio Bigari (frescoes) and Guercino (sacristy). Stucco works are by A. Borelli and G. Calegari and statues by Angelo Piò.

A BRENTINO BELLUNO (Verona) percorriamo l'antico Sentiero del Pellegrino ora detto anche Sentiero della Speranza, che con i suoi 1740 gradini (distribuiti su 2500 metri di agevole/impegnativa salita), congiunge il paese dell'Adige al Santuario MADONNA della CORONA. Questo suggestivo luogo religioso (già romitaggio del XV secolo), si trova nel Comune di Caprino Veronese, frazione di Spiazzi, ed è posto in uno strapiombante incavo roccioso del Monte Baldo.

Both the church and sanctuary are both in use today. Other sights include the Rocca (14th century), built by the Normans, and the 16th century Fortino (Small Fort). Cascate del Dardagna Madonna dell'Acero
Le cascate possono essere raggiunte facilmente con un percorso suggestivo che parte dalla Madonna dell'Acero (1190 m s.l.m., Lizzano in Belvedere). E’ un itinerario ad anello, breve e adatto a tutti i visitatori, che partendo dal centro visita conduce in un paio d’ore alla scoperta di una delle più celebri emergenze del parco, mostrando aspetti geomorfologici, vegetazionali e storici caratteristici della montagna appenninica.
Da Pian d’Ivo, passando per Case Pasquali (segnavia CAI 331A), si scende attraverso il bosco di faggi al torrente Dardagna, risalendone il corso (segnavia CAI 333) fino a incontrare il primo di una suggestiva serie di salti che il torrente compie. Un ripido sentiero, dotato in più punti di staccionate di protezione e numerosi gradini, permette di salire a lato delle cascate seguendone l’intero sviluppo. Raggiunta la sommità delle cascate si imbocca la pista forestale che scende verso Madonna dell’Acero intercettando il percorso CAI 331, tra rimboschimenti di abeti bianchi e boschi di faggio che in primavera si colorano di belle fioriture nemorali.
Al termine dell’itinerario è possibile visitare il santuario di Madonna dell’Acero, uno dei più noti della montagna bolognese.

Santuario Madonna dei Miracoli
L'imponente Santuario della Madonna dei Miracoli rappresenta il polmone spirituale dell'Arcidiocesi di Chieti-Vasto. Il Santuario, retto dal 1925 dai monaci Benedettini, si erge sul luogo dove, secondo la leggenda, sarebbe apparsa la Madonna. Si narra, infatti, che l'11 giugno 1526, un contadino di Pollutri, Alessandro Muzio, si avviava recitando il rosario verso il proprio campo per constatare i danni causati dalla violenta grandinata che poco prima si era abbattuta sulla zona. Udito il suono della campana che annunziava in paese la celebrazione della messa, si inginocchiò. Fu a quel punto che nei pressi di un querceto apparve la Madonna per rivelargli che la tempesta del giorno precedente era la conseguenza dello sdegno di Dio per i molti peccati dei suoi compaesani e lo ammonì ad indurre costoro al rispetto del riposo festivo onde evitare il castigo della grandine e dei venti rovinosi. Sul luogo sorse, l'anno stesso dell'apparizione della Vergine, una piccola cappella rurale che poi venne man mano ampliata fino ad assumere le forme attuali. La facciata oggi si presenta in stile rinascimentale, con tre portali lignei e una cupola alta 37 metri. L'interno è a croce latina. Nella cripta è visibile il punto esatto nel quale secondo la tradizione avvenne l'apparizione. Oltre al pregevole dipinto murale che raffigura la Madonna dei Miracoli col beato Muzio, si può ammirare un sontuoso altare ligneo elegantemente intagliato, dipinto in oro con effetto marmorizzato. Il monastero attiguo alla chiesa ospita una ricca biblioteca che raccoglie ben 70.000 volumi tra cui preziosi codici e miniature della tradizione benedettina italiana medievale. Tutt'oggi il Santuario, in particolare nei giorni della festa (9-11 giugno), richiama una grande folla di pellegrini che in attesa della grazia richiesta alla Vergine fino a pochi anni fa trascorreva la notte all'interno della chiesa, dove oggi è anche accessibile la sala degli ex-voto dell'800 e dei primi del '900.
Le forme devozionali di matrice popolare che in passato si svolgevano nel Santuario hanno trovato importante collocazione in ambito letterario e pittorico. Il vate Gabriele D'Annunzio ne rimase profondamente colpito tanto da appellarle come barbariche nella sua opera Il trionfo della morte. A questo primitivo mondo di contadini e pastori il pittore Francesco Paolo Michetti dedica invece un'attenzione quasi da antropologo e studioso delle tradizioni che trova la sua migliore espressione nella processione che egli dipinse nel quadro Gli Storpi (1900).
The imposing Shrine of Madonna dei Miracoli is the spiritual driving force of the Archdiocese of Chieti-Vasto. The Sanctuary was built in 1526 by the Benedictine monks on the exact location where according the legend, Our Lady appeared. As the story goes, on the 11th of June 1526 a farmer from Pollutri by the name of Alessandro Muzio, was praying the rosary while on his way to check on his farm that was damaged by a violent hailstorm that struck the entire area the day before. He heard the church bells ring announcing the Holy Mass and knelt down. It was in this very spot by a small oak tree that Our Lady revealed that the storm of the day before was a consequence of God's disdain for the many sins of his fellow villagers and admonished them to respect the weekly holyday to avoid the punishment of hail and ruinous winds. On that spot the year after Our Lady's apparition, a small rural chapel was built and was enlarged little by little until it reached its present state. The façade today is in Renaissance style, with 3 wooden doors and a 37 metre high dome. The interior floor plan is a Latin cross. In the crypt it is possible to see the exact spot where, according to tradition, Our Lady appeared. Aside from the precious wall painting that depicts Our Lady of Miracles with Blessed Muzio, one can admire the lavish wooden altar elegantly carved and painted in gold with marbled effect. The adjacent monastery houses a vast library that holds 70.000 volumes of precious codes and traditional Italian Benedictine miniatures.
Up to this day the Shrine attracts a great number of pilgrims, especially on the feast days (June 9-11), who spend the night inside the church while waiting for a special grace from Our Lady. Today even the 18th-19th century ex voto room is also made available.
The popular devotional practices that in the past were carried out in the Sanctuary have found their way into the art and literary fields. The poet Gabriele D'Annunzio was taken profoundly aback so much so as to call them barbaric in his work, Il Trionfo della Morte. To this primitive world of farmers and shepherds, the painter Francesco Paolo Michetti dedicated close attention to the traditions as an anthropologist or scientist would do, and expressed them vividly in the procession of his painting called Gli Storpi (1900).

Gold and silver predominate, together with the rich colours of a baroque painting . Hypnotic blue dresses emblazoned with red corals or the simple black dress summon up images of Italian scenery.
Calignano finished the collection with a wedding dress inspired by the moonlight of the 'limpid Salento skies'.
The designer favours smooth and light fabrics - tulle, organza, and crepe to dress his millennium women in a refined, sobre but sometimes bizarre way.
GIANNI MOLARO hit the headlines when he created the longest bridal veil in the world, the heaviest and largest wedding gown in the world, and a wedding dress covered with 7000 diamonds. For his first collection in Rome, he took inspiration from two paintings showing the pilgrimage to the Madonna of the Arch. Every year, since 1550, during Easternight , pilgrims take their annual trip to the sanctuary pf the Madonna dell'Arco near Naples. According to custom, they all wear white gowns with a blue band along the shoulders.
Molaro's collection is inspired by three colours - red, gold and blue. The designer says the most important dress of the collection is the 'ex voto', inspired by the Virgin Mary herself and worn by new teen fashion model sensation GODA.
YUMI KATSURA dedicates her second high fashion collection to thre secrets of the kimono and its thousand year old rituals. This is the starting point to a collection featuring elemts tied Oriental culture , but seen through modern eyes. The designer nominates silver as the key colour of the new millennium - discreet, opaque, fireproof and graces pant suits with big lapels.

Das Marianische Heiligtum, genannt della Corona zählt mit Sicherheit zu den bemerkenswertesten religiösen Bauwerke. Anfänglich eine Einsiedelei, in der eine kleine Gemeinschaft lebte, die zum Benediktiner Kloster S. Zeno in Verona gehörte. Mitten in der Felswand wurde nach und nach über Jahrhunderte dieses Prunkstück erschaffen.
Diese Besonderheit ließen sich 69 TeilnehmerInnen nicht entgehen und traten die Reise bei strahlendem Sonnenschein an.

After following an arcade comprised of 666 arches, you reach the sanctuary on top of a hill, overlooking Bologna. The view is spectacular, as are the sore muscles reminding you of the climb. But it's well worth a trip. Of course, you can opt to ride the street train up to the sanctuary, or just back down to the city center, as we did.

Santuario della Cornabusa: il miracolo nella grotta divenuta chiesa
Terzo episodio della rubrica Lombardia Experience
Gita fuori porta al Santuario della Cornabusa situato a Sant'Omobono Terme in provincia di Bergamo, luogo dove una pastorella sordomuta ritrovò una statuetta raffigurante la Madonna e per miracolo recuperò voce e udito.
La chiesa apre ogni anno il Lunedì dell'Angelo (Pasquetta) e rimane aperta fino all'ultima settimana di Ottobre (diciamo finché c'è bel tempo). In questo periodo è visitabile durante tutta la settimana dalle 9.00 alle 18.00, mentre gli orari della Santa Messa sono variabili in base al mese e potete trovarli sul sito ufficiale o sulla pagina Facebook.
