Synopsis: The Bene Israel Jews arrived in India almost 2500 years ago after a shipwreck near Alibaug, Mumbai. They have since developed into a a rich and unique community residing primarily in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Their culture is a very unique amalgamation of Jewish, Maharashtrian and Konkani influences. Over the years, most Jews have migrated to Israel, USA, Canada and other countries but a small fraction still remains. My film focuses on the Bene Israel community of Ahmedabad city, comprising a mere 130 members. The protagonist of my film, Joseph Pingle Johnny, happens to be the one of the most important stakeholders of the community, taking on various roles like the Cantor, Priest, Hebrew teacher as well as the care taker of the only Synagogue in Gujarat State: the Magen Abraham Synagogue, he's been trying hard to sustain the unique culture and identity of the Bene Israel Jews. The film talks about his multi-layered relationship with the Synagogue.

Amdavad Ni Gufa is one of the masterpiece of the first indian architect who received pritzker prize- Bv Dhoshi and is an art museum showcasing some rock paintings. The form is just marvelous, with that much organic design, which itself demarked as a sculpture in appeal. The sheild was decorared by white china mosaic at the top creating that blend with nature.
East Harlem's Little Treasure
When Ana Torres, first moved from Puerto Rico to East Harlem in 1960 the neighborhood was predominantly Jewish, Italian, and German. “Actually, the building I lived in, we were the only Hispanic family, and throughout the years you’ve actually seen the neighborhood become more diversified. So it’s really changed a lot, a lot of more cultures, a lot of more new ethnic groups, and I think the community’s more welcome to new people in the neighborhood,” she said.
Torres lives directly adjacent to NYRP’s Rodale Pleasant Park Community Garden on East 114th Street. She joined the garden five years ago, explaining that she felt like she had discovered a “little hidden treasure.”

SUMMARY
=======
The Bene Israel (Sons of Israel), formerly known in India as the Shanivar Teli caste (Saturday Oil Presser caste) and later as the Native Jew Caste, are a historic community of Jews in India. It has been suggested that it is made up of descendants of one of the disputed Lost Tribes and ancestors who had settled there centuries ago. In the 19th century, after the people were taught about normative (Ashkenazi/Sephardi) Judaism, they tended to migrate from villages in the Konkan area to the nearby cities, primarily Mumbai, but also to Pune, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata, India; and Karachi, in today's Pakistan. Many gained positions with the British colonial authority of the period.
In the early part of the twentieth century, many Bene Israel became active in the new film industry, as actresses and actors, producers and directors. After India gained its independence in 1947, and Israel was established in 1948, most Bene Israel emigrated to Israel, Canada and other Commonwealth countries and the United States.

Lothal is believed to be one of the world's first seaports. Gujarat's coastal cities, chiefly Bharuch and Khambhat, served as ports and trading centers in the Maurya and Gupta empires, and during the succession of royal Saka dynasties from the Western Satraps era.
