Beijing's Best Hutong Bars! Tasting Baijiu Cocktails and More! ????
Beijing is one of the busiest cities in the world, famous for its beautiful landmarks and modern high rise buildings, However, the city is also home to a number of little traditional laneways that snake through the capital's back alleys known as hutongs. These little alleyways ooze a secret hipster vibe and are some of the best places to go if you’re looking for a quiet laid-back spot that serves up some high-quality drinks. Join the team as we spend the day getting lost in the many hutongs in search for the Best Hutongs Bars in Beijing. We hit up Capital Spirits in Xinsi Hutong first, one of the first bars in the world dedicated to the hard-hitting Chinese liquor Baijiu. The bartenders help ease you into the liquor by combining it with a delicious range of sweet and fruity mixers. Next up we head to Great Leap Brewing No. 6 in Doujiao Hutong, an institution in Beijing and the first craft brewery to open in the city. Founded by couple Carl Setzer and Liu Fang, we try their special range of beers infused with Chinese history and culture such as the famous Honey Ma Gold. For a more intimate setting, we explore Mai bar, drinking up some of the most delicious drinks in all of Beijing. Afterwards, we take a seat in Eric Liu’s famous Mao Mao Chong for a bite of pizza and a sip of one of his creative twists on classic cocktails. We end the night in one of Beiluogixiang’s many nooks - Nina Bar. There is no better way to end the night than with some mix’n’matched arancini balls, a couple of friends and lots of spritz! It’s all here in our latest episode of Top Picks, our original travel videos series where we list our favourite foods and things to do from all over the world.

Click the red subscribe button if you like this video – follow for a new travel video every week. MORE IN THE DESCRIPTION ⬇️
Visiting China? I wrote up some things you should know before going --
China Nightlife - We start at a couple hip bars in Zhujiang New Town aka downtown Guangzhou including Revolution Cocktail .. And then the mai event at Party Pier, the most popular night life and clubbing scene in GZ. It really is designed quite well.. all the late night bars and clubs concentrated in one ‘pier’ area .. usually going late until 4-5-6am sometimes depending on the place. This video is of O2 club, a popular one, but there’s also other clubs like Suns, and several bars like Revolution and Zapatas. Also chiller bars up on top of the pier to drink and smoke hookah. Either way, when you visit Guangzhou city you will come to Party Pier. You can take the metro aka subway there before 11pm. But usually it gets crowded around 1-2am.

Chinese Street Food - ENTIRE BOWL ONE-NOODLE and Halal Beef Salad! | Yunnan, China Day 2
Day 2 of this 4-part video Chinese food tour of Yunnan. Watch it all here:
►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week:
►T-shirts available now:
Day 2 in Yunnan, China was one of the greatest days of Chinese food I’ve ever had. We started by visiting Weishan, Yunnan, China, an ancient village known for delicious noodles. Then we continued on to an ancient and well preserved Muslim village, and finally had an ethnic dinner back in Dali new town.
Special thanks to Zouba Tours ( for arranging everything in this video. I paid for this tour (it’s not sponsored), but I think they did a great job, and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the tour.
The first bowl of noodles was spectacular, a seperate bowl of noodles and a dipping soup of chili oil and pork. It was the perfect way to start a cold day in Yunnan, China.
Price - 11 RMB ($1.67) per bowl
Next we tried a Chinese street food snack that’s popular in Yunnan. A rice sheet is first grilled, then on went some pickles, peanuts, and a bunch of spices, and finally a Chinese donut was filled on the inside.
Price - 1 RMB ($0.15)
Entire bowl one noodle - Yes, the entire bowl of noodle was actually just one single noodle. It was one of the most fascinating to watch bowls ever. There’s a pan of coiled dough, which she expertly adds and stretches out as she boils it. You noodle gets cooked then topped with some vegetables and pork. It’s amazing to watch being made, and tastes delicious too.
Price - 8 RMB ($1.21)
Donglianhua (东莲花) Village - This is a well preserved ancient Muslim village, and Luxi brought us to a friend who is an outstanding cook with a gorgeous Chinese courtyard. She cooked one of the most amazing Halal beef salads I’ve ever had, plus Chinese Muslim noodles. Watching her cook everything from scratch and then eating in the courtyard environment was truly spectacular.
Xi Lian Shan (喜莲膳)
Total price - 120 RMB ($18.18)
Jingpo Yan Han Ren Jia (景颇岩罕人家) - Finally for dinner we drove back to Dali new town and ate dinner at a Jingpo restaurant, which is food from the border near Myanmar. The food was ate was not Chinese food like you would normally think, but more similar to Thai / Burmese or with Southeast Asian spices and flavors. It was an amazing meal to finish a fantastic Chinese street food tour day.
Total price - 200 RMB ($30.30)
This is Day 2 of our Chinese Food in Yunnan tour. Watch the full series here:

Fear and Loathing in Beijing #7 - The Great Wall of China! (Jinshanling)
Fear and Loathing in Beijing #7 - The Great Wall of China!
Jinshanling Great Wall!
In this Episode, we went to the best spot to see the Great Wall of China!
There are a few wall parts around Beijing open for tourism. But most of them are just overrun with people.
The Jinshanling Great Wall is an exception mostly because of the distance to Beijing. Which btw also makes it a Day-Trip.
This is how you get to Jinshanling Great Wall:
You can take the public transport Busses to the Wall between April and November.
The Bus Station is located at WANGJING WEST (Line 13) Metro Station. Leave the Metro Station at Exit C (Dont worry its a bigger station and Exit C is kinda hidden so you have to walk a bit).
After you left the station at Exit C, take a look over your right shoulder to see a RED sign Tourist Bus to Jinshanling Great Wall.
The Bus Station looks a bit sketchy, but don't worry.
After the Red Sign keep walking around 20-50 Meters alongside the Bus station to get to the waiting area with a white sign saying: 金山岭长城旅游班车 only in Chinese.
The waiting area has long white metal bars under a roof to wait in Line - That's the right spot. There a few Busses which departure from that same point - so don't panic just ask every time.
The Bus departure at 8 am in the morning.
( Officially - BUT the last time we went there they told us the bus would depart at 8:30 which it did. But I would not bet on it to happen every time. So make sure to be there at 8 am and don't worry if you have to wait a bit. since there is only one Bus going there you don't want to miss it. )
The Bus Ticket is around 50RMB and can only be bought inside the Bus and in Cash. The ride to Jinshanling takes around 100 Min. and depending on the Traffic the bus will make a short stop at a Gas station.
The Bus back to Beijing departures at 3 pm and 4 pm.
( ! ! Here it's Important to ask the driver when u leave the Bus to make sure u don't miss the last Bus. ! ! )
The Bus back to Beijing will departure at the same place where you get off the Bus. The Ticket back is around 50RMB and can only be bought inside the Bus in Cash.
It will take you back to City. They just stopped at a metro station (Line 13) and somewhere close to Sanlitun - I don't have an exact location.
When You arrive at the parking space in Jinshanling you walk by the Tourist Information Center. I recommend using the shuttle, its only 10RMB and will take you to the entry of the Jinshanling Great Wall Park. You get the Tickets inside.
You can also walk up there in around 15-20 minutes (Like we did in the Video) but you should rather spend that time on the actual Wall.
You also can take a shuttle back to the Parking lot.
It's again 10RMB!
When you arrive at the Entry of the Park you have to buy the Park Ticket.
The Ticket is around 60RMB and 30RMB for Students.
Again I highly recommend taking the cable car to the Wall - in this case, there is no time walking up to the Wall!!
Cable Car roundtrip Ticket is around 30RMB.
The Great Wall is an uneasy Terrain with a lot of rocks, holes and extreme stairs a lot of stairs. So be careful and were good shoes.
You can buy water, snacks, and Ice before you enter the park and also inside every Tower of the wall but it is fucking expansive.
So make sure to buy enough Water and food upfront before you even get on the Bus.
That's it. I hope you have a great time there its absolutely worth it!!
This instruction is from Mai 2019.
I can't guarantee for any changes they may make or other mistakes.
But leave a comment if something changed
This is Fear and Loathing in Beijing - I am Lee, a German student, studying, exploring and surviving in the capital of China - Beijing, at Beijing Institute of Technology.
In this video series, I will cover all the different experiences and challenges ill have as an Exchange Student in China.

Rival groups fight in Hong Kong, on its 15th straight weekend of protests

Skirmishes and fist fights broke out across parts of Hong Kong on Saturday as anti-government protesters and pro-Beijing supporters clashed during rallies, protests and singing sessions both sides organised on the 15th weekend of unrest in the city.
But the day passed with none of the scenes of major violence from previous weekends. No petrol bombs were thrown at crowds and no rounds of tear gas were fired. Black-clad anti-government protesters were also out in smaller numbers, as were riot police.

Chinese SUVs 2016, 2017 Lifan Maiwei X7 SUV debuts on the Beijing Auto Show
Lifan Maiwei X7 SUV debuts on the Beijing Auto Show
The Lifan Maiwei X7 SUV has been launched on the Beijing Auto Show, looking nice in white with a big shiny bar in the grille. The Maiwei X7 is a crossover between an SUV and an MPV, it will hit the Chinese car market in the second half of the year for about 80.000 yuan.
The much larger Lifan X80 SUV was also expected for debut in Beijing but didn’t show up.
A word on the name. Maiwei is going to be a new sub-brand for a range of new vehicles aimed at young car buyers. This X7 is the first of these cars. ‘Maiwei’ is phonetic translation of ‘my way’. The English slogan is “It’s my way”. The Chinese slogan is, translated: “My life, my way”.
Design is trendy for a Lifan but not overly exciting. Black wheel arches for that crossover feeling, but the actual wheels are far to small to be pretty, although the alloys and red brakes are kinda cool.
Power comes from a 1.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 107hp and 145nm, mated to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Size: 4440/1760/1730, and wheelbase is 2720.
The interior is nice, with two-tone faux leather seats and dark brown fake wood. Screen is on the small side for 2016, and the dials are so crazily shaped one could call it hip. Manual ‘box in this car. #cars #auto #moto #4youautomanija

With around 15 million visitors every year the forbidden city is the most visited museum in the world . Due to the crazy amount of people there is now a maximum of 80,000 tickets allowed for entry per day.
The Forbidden City palace complex served as the home of emperors and their households and was the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government for almost 500 years.
Some key elements of Chinese architecture include features; such as, symmetry, deceptive ridges, horizontal emphasis, mythological, symbolism. o Feng shui theory, and the use of enclosed and open spaces.

This is probably why you see red used frequently in China. certain architectural features were reserved only for the Emperor of China. One example is the use of yellow roof tiles, yellow was the Imperial color.
The palace grounds set an precedent in Chinese architecture style. It has had a huge influence all around Asia including japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Korea.
Since then the main principles of Chinese architecture have remained largely unchanged, the main changes being only the decorative details.
Tiananmen Square is one of the largest unlicensed squares in the world (880×500 m - and. it’s a site of many important and cultural events in Chinese history including The founding of The Peoples republic of China by Mao Zedong in 1949.
