ORANGE CITY, FL ( Florida TV) Blue Spring Florida Manatees State Park. One of the best places to see manatees in all of Florida. Florida TV takes an inside look as to why manatees flock here each year. And why people travel from around the world just to view these amazing creatures.
We tag along with the “Save The Manatee” experts that show us how they track, save and count these sea cows. Save the Manatee Club was founded in 1981 by Bob Graham, former Florida Governor and U.S. Senator, and singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett. The Club was started with the mission to protect manatees and their habitat. Today, Save the Manatee Club is the world’s leading manatee conservation organization.
BLUE SPRING STATE PARK
Conservation measures can produce astounding results. In 1970, two years before Blue Spring State Park was established, researchers tracked 14 manatees in the spring run. By 2005, after years of park improvements and manatee protection efforts, wintering manatee numbers exceeded 200. By 2018, that number skyrocketed to a record 485.
Besides sea cows, fish abound in the spring run, and these attract a variety of wading birds, ospreys, eagles and kingfishers. To see the park’s wonders, one can hike along the spring run or on the 4.5-mile Pine Island Trail. One can also launch a canoe or kayak, rent one at the park or take a guided riverboat cruise.
Blue Spring State Park is a state park located west of Orange City, Florida in the United States. The park is a popular tourist destination; available activities include canoeing, SCUBA diving, kayaking, fishing, camping, hiking, wildlife watching, and swimming.

Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park Tour & Review
Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park is located just 40 minutes away from Gainesville Florida and is one of our newest Florida State Parks. The Spring is beautiful and the park includes kayak rentals, hiking trails, and and Rv as well as tent camping. Gilchrist Blue Springs state park was added to our park system in 2017 and is slowly getting updated to state park standards. Campsites 18 & 17, were the best in that order! There is no dump station yet, but sites do have power and water! This is a top 10 spring to visit in Florida!

Manatee Sanctuary Park
I discovered Manatee Sanctuary Park recently. It is located nearby in Cape Canaveral Florida and is easy to find via maps. Enjoy beautiful views of the Banana River where bird and aquatic wildlife are plentiful including dolphins on occasion. The park includes walking trails complete with fitness stops, bike rentals (via Zagster online), picnic areas and kids playground. Free Admission daily. Video soundtrack credit: bensound.com

Fanning Springs State Park is a Florida State Park, located on US 19/98 in the town of Fanning Springs. It contains one of the state's 33 first magnitude springs.As of 2008, decreased water emission levels at the springs technically requalify the first magnitude status as historical first magnitude. Located on the Suwannee River, this inviting source of cool, clear water has attracted people for thousands of years. Fanning Springs now produces less than 65 million gallons of water daily, making it a second magnitude spring. Historically, Fanning Spring was a first-magnitude springs as recently as the 1990s.

Watch as we drive through Manatee Hammock campgrounds in Titusville Florida near Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center.
This was a very clean campground with water frontage in the back, a swimming pool, laundry, rec room, pavilion, dog park, horseshoes, shuffle board and more. The price was very reasonable for full hook up. It is also convenient to I95 if you are driving by. Check out the video for a drive through tour.

Goodbye Manatee Springs - Gypsy V Music Video
Florida has more coastline than any of the other lower 48 states in the U.S. But while salt water lines Florida's beaches, the state also has immense deposits of freshwater. Some of its freshwater springs, once teeming with eel grass and other underwater vegetation, are now overrun with algae. While the algae create a picturesque green scene, the tiny organisms are stifling diversity of life in the springs. At Manatee Springs, manatees no longer have the resources necessary to make the spring their home.
Manatee Springs is a 1st magnitude spring located about 7 miles west of Chiefland in Levy County. The spring pool is about 60 by 75 feet for an estimated surface area of 0.1 acre. The depth of the spring pool was reported to be about 25 feet. When visited by Scott et al. (2004) in 2002, the spring water was sky blue with a very pronounced boil. The spring run is about 1,200 feet in length, flowing southward to the Suwannee River.

My buddy and I went to Manatee Springs State Park in Chiefland, Florida to dive. First we dove in Catfish Sink (aka Catfish Hotel), then we made our way over to Manatee Springs for a second dive.
