Local Author Brings Words to Life to Celebrate National Library Week
during National Poetry Month
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- West Palm Beach Public City Library to celebrate National Library Week's Create Your Own Story @ Your City Library and National Poetry Month by featuring local author and poet Yanatha Desouvre's poetry workshop entitled: See Memorable Things, Write Memorable Things, Do Memorable Things on Sunday April 10, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. -- 3:30 p.m. You will leave this lesson with a foundation on poetic forms, a group poem, and motivation. The theme is to Positively Impact Your Life by Empowering Others. This event will also raise awareness for Foundation Hope for Haiti (foundationhopeforehaiti.org).
Yanatha Desouvre is not your average poet or author by any means—his desire to inspire others to reach out for every dream they ever had is extraordinary. S.O.L.I.D (Serving Others by Leading Inspiring and Developing the human spirit) is his core belief. Desouvre hopes to encourage others to see the opportunity in every moment of life, even in these troubled times. Desouvre' s writing demonstrates his unparalleled ability to bring words to life.
Every aspect of life is about learning, growing and trusting in ourselves, Desouvre explains, and through my writing and performances, I hope to ultimately bring out the best in people. I aspire to inspire everyone I meet. Desouvre continues his encouraging tone through his poetry, as seen in this excerpt from Imagine This Imagine That:
So no matter where you are from and what you've been through / realize in this life there is nothing you cannot do. / You've got to work hard and simply believe. / Believe me, you say it, you can do it, there so much you can achieve. / Acknowledge the struggles of the past / that brought you to this path. / So remember it's not where you are from its where you're at. / Imagine This, Imagine That.
Foundation Hope for Haiti is the America-based development arm of Foundation Espoir, created to support projects in Haiti through fundraising awareness and nurturing of long term relationships with national and international friends of Haiti (foundationforhaiti.org).
Yanatha Desouvre is a performance poet, writer and published author. Desouvre was born in Haiti and grew up in Brooklyn and Philadelphia. He is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science. Desouvre recently released his audiobook Walk Through this Journey: Volume One. He resides in West Palm Beach; Fla.
