Exploring Colorado: Manitou Springs and McNally's First Day Out
Our RV is at the shop so we make a trip to Manitou Springs while also taking McNally out for the first time. We really enjoyed Manitou Springs, Colorado and all it had to offer.
It was dog friendly and the mineral waters are worth trying. We'd suggest you swing by if you find yourself in the Colorado Springs area.
We recently adopted McNally from Breeder Release Adoption Service in Colorado (they're also in Arizona and New Mexico) and highly recommend going through them if you're looking to rescue a new companion!
The blanket you see him on in the car was given to the shelter (and then to us) from an awesome group called Wrapped in Love. They make and donate blankets to rescue shelters:

Manitou Springs Colorado
Manitou Springs is a home rule municipality located in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. The town was founded for its scenic setting and natural mineral springs. The downtown area continues to be of interest to travelers, particularly in the summer, as the downtown area consists of many one-story, adjoining, small shops, restaurants, and pubs, as well as a creekside city park with a children's playground made from unusual materials. Among other services, shops cater to tourist interests such as clothing, candy, souvenirs, and outdoor recreation. The main road through the center of town was one of the direct paths to the base of Pikes Peak. Barr Trail, which winds its way up Pikes Peak, is accessible from town. The subdivision Crystal Hills was added to the municipality in the 1960s.
General William Jackson Palmer and Dr. William Abraham Bell founded Manitou Springs in 1872, intending the town to be a scenic health resort. Dr Bell's home, Briarhurst Manor, is open to the public as a fine dining restaurant, which is listed on the National Register of Historic places. In 1876, the town was incorporated. Manitou Springs has been the quintessential tourist town since the 1870s, when visitors discovered the healing waters the Ute Indians had been drinking for years. Many of the town's mineral springs still function today and the water is free.

Manitou Springs, Colorado Vacation
Here is a short video of Manitou Springs, Colorado. It's a small town just out side of Colorado Springs and just below Pikes Peak.
If you come to Colorado for a vacation you've got to check out the Amusement Arcade in Manitou Springs. I'm a local here and my son and I come here to play games all the time. It's great because they have all of the old games you will remember from your childhood.

Hiking the Manitou Incline
It was my first time hiking the Manitou Incline, and it was pretty intense. What's crazy is that the Manitou Incline Record is 17:45 by Joseph Gray - what a beast.

Colorado Springs, at an elevation of 6,035 ft., is a city in Colorado at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains. It lies near glacier-carved Pikes Peak, a landmark in Pike National Forest with hiking trails and a cog railway leading to its 14,114-ft. summit. The city's Garden of the Gods park features iconic red-sandstone formations and mountain views.
One of the nation's first destination resorts, Colorado Springs is now the state’s second-largest city. Its natural beauty and pleasant climate attract visitors from around the globe, who come to ascend majestic Pikes Peak and admire the exquisite sandstone spires of the Garden of the Gods.
Comprising a sprawling quilt of neighborhoods, which can be a little confusing to navigate, Colorado Springs has many faces. It's home to three of the nation's highest security military bases, it's an evangelical stronghold, and it boasts a vibrant liberal-arts university campus.
Recently the Springs has come of its own as a year-round adventure and leisure tourism destination, with a bunch of new family-focused attractions adding to the appeal of the Front Range and its existing cache of sights, from the excellent fine-arts museum to the historic Air Force Academy and an up-and-coming restaurant scene.

THE INCLINE
The Incline is called an extreme trail or an advanced hike that rises above Manitou Springs, Colorado. So naturally I had to go see for myself. There are 2768 steps (railroad ties) to the top of the Incline.. and a sign halfway up says, this is no walk in the park. It's definitely a physical workout but it's not an advanced hike because almost anyone can do this hike if you pace yourself.

Correction- carbon monoxide not dioxide. Thanks to my brother Josh with Project 2 for pointing that out. He mentioned it went off perhaps because it’s not venting well enough while the water heater is burning.
