That is why it is called Mapusa Friday Market. This is considered as the best shopping place at Goa. Local farmers and villagers as well as small entrepreneurs from all over Goa come to Mapusa Friday Market tos ell their products directly to the consumsers. Variety of items like fresh fruits, Seedless tamarind (local name is amot), Goan home-made chouriço, spiced and marinated pork sausages, jewellery, pottery, spice, carpet are available in this market.

Mapusa Merchants Association shut down their shops for two hours between 9 am to 11 am on Friday. They took this step in protest against the failure on the part of the Mapusa Municipality to streamline vendor activity as well as other issues affecting the Mapusa Market. The merchants decided to shut down their shops for two hours on the main bazaar day on Friday do undertake verification of vendors by themselves.

Mapusa Friday Market is a traditional, regional weekly market in Mapusa, North Goa and a major tourist attraction. It is located within and around the Mapusa Municipal market area.
Unlike the flea markets at Anjuna and Arpora, this weekly market is largely a local affair with Goans from surrounding villages selling farm products such as spices, fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood. Wander around the open air-market and you'll also find pickles, natural soaps, flavored tea, pork sausages (known as chorizos), antique crockery, antique jewelry, trendy t shirts, goggles, as well as cheap clothes, pottery and bamboo products. One of the last authentic markets in Goa, it is a good place to soak in the local vibe.

SARAS TRADE FAIR TO BE HELD IN MAPUSA ON SMALL SCALE: CM SAWANT│PRUDENT MEDIA GOA
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has informed that Government will hold Saras trade fair in North Goa on a small scale. Addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony of Saras trade fair at Margao, Sawant has revealed that Saras will be held at Mapusa.
