CEBU BRIDGES|MARCELO FERNAN BRIDGE|MACTAN MANDAUE BRIDGE|CCLEX WILL BE NEXT

At the present time, there are two bridges connecting the islands of Cebu and Mactan, which are located in Central Visayas, Philippines.

The first bridge, Mactan-Mandaue Bridge was built in 1970 and was inaugurated in 1973.

Twenty six years later, the second bridge (Marcelo Fernan Bridge), was built to help decongest the traffic from the older Mactan-Mandaue bridge. This was opened to the public in 1999.

Now, it has been two decades since the second bridge has operated.
Great news is, approximately two years from now, there will be three bridges that will be connecting Cebu & Mactan Islands. Construction of the 3rd bridge is already ongoing.

When I studied traveling to Cebu, I often wondered about the bridges connecting Cebu City to Mactan Island. I make three crossings for you making video from my motorcycle and put them together in a single video. You can see how the two cities and ports look from the bridge. The older bridge is A.C. Cortes Avenue and the bridge is called the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge. The newer bridge further to the north is on United Nations Ave. and called Marcelo Fernan Bridge. It is rumored that a tunnel has been proposed in addition to these two bridges. Hmmm? Earthquakes and tunnels? ~ Philippines tourism ~ My Motorcycle Adventures
