Places to see in ( Chicago - USA ) Marina City
Marina City is a mixed-use residential-commercial building complex in Chicago, Illinois, United States, North America. The structure was completed in 1968 (50 years ago) and occupies almost an entire city block on State Street on the north bank of the Chicago River in downtown Chicago, directly across from the Loop district.
The complex consists of two 587-foot (179 m), 65-story towers, which include physical plant penthouses. It also includes a saddle-shaped auditorium building and a mid-rise hotel building, contained on a raised platform next to the Chicago River. Beneath the platform, at river level, is a small marina for pleasure craft, giving the structures their name.
Designed by Bertrand Goldberg, Marina City was the first building in the United States to be constructed with tower cranes. The Marina City complex was designed in 1959 by architect Bertrand Goldberg and constructed between 1961 and 1968 at a cost of $36 million, financed to a large extent by Building Service Employees International Union, a union of building janitors and elevator operators, who sought to reverse the pattern of white flight from the city's downtown area. When finished, the two towers were both the tallest residential buildings and the tallest reinforced concrete structures in the world. The complex was built as a city within a city, featuring numerous on-site facilities including a theater, gym, swimming pool, ice rink, bowling alley, stores, restaurants, and, of course, a marina.
The two towers contain identical floor plans. The bottom 19 floors form an exposed spiral parking ramp operated by valet with approximately 896 parking spaces. The 20th floor of each contains a laundry room and gym with panoramic views of the Loop, while floors 21 through 60 contain apartments (450 per tower). A 360-degree open-air roof deck lies on the 61st and top story. The buildings are accessed from separate lobbies that share a common below-grade mezzanine level as well as ground-level plaza entrances beside the House of Blues. Originally rental apartments, the complex converted to condominiums in 1977, but still contains a number of rental units.

Chicago at night - REAL USA Ep. 84
Chicago is the third largest city in the United States (after New York and Los Angles), and we can't obviously even scratch the surface in one episode . . . but everybody has to start somewhere. So for the first time in roughly 20 years Bev and I went into the heart of downtown Chicago, Illinois to capture some of the sights, and sounds, of the city that has had songs written about it, movies named after it, and has always played an integral part in American life and history.

Going into the town red double-decker bus is noticeable. Cradle of modern architecture, called Chicago. The bus ride can look at the buildings' around the inner city alley alley for 2 hours. Once you buy a $ 29 ticket it can be issued several times to ride again. The Pentagon is a big building next to the Merchandise Mart in the United States. This area wider than the palace. The building jyeotdaneun built some time ago is said to shape the lazily flowing river. La broken neck to look up at John Hancock Center is a 100-story high-rise'll even though only fourth in the 344 meters in Chicago. Buildings along the outer wall so high at the time and was able to build a steel frame building went up in 1969 thanks to the X-shaped. Corn building right next to the Chicago River one people, there is a Marina City. This is all caused by Khan Khan home as corn seen as a mixed-use building was built in 1964. Eotneunde not until I dig the underground to the depth of the difficult 19-storey car park next to the river, they also seem hwonhi car parked outside. Reverse parking seems to be scary. Below is a building private boat dock. Chicago is the aid of a skyscraper. 1885, saying the world's first steel-structure building, the Home Insurance Building of a skyscraper with stabs the sky means when it arises in Chicago been using it for the first time. But only large or high or unique architecture does not mean famous Chicago. Instead of reducing as much as possible to decorate the logistics deuldorok made easier and out higher ground floor entrance. Jieumyeon a high-rise building in a narrow street can come to light large windows andeuleo well, a lot of that style, including a modern office building is started for the first time in Chicago.

Marina City Under Lasalle St. Bridge Downtown Viewed From The Chicago River Tour
A look at the downtown Chicago Loop area from boat. Our president has taken this tour through the buildings in the loop.
