America's Ancient Pyramids Of Paleoamericans Of Louisiana
Poverty Point (French: Pointe de Pauvreté) is a prehistoric earthworks of the Poverty Point culture, now a historic monument and World Heritage Site located in the Southern United States. It is 15.5 miles (24.9 km) from the current Mississippi River, and situated on the edge of Maçon Ridge, near the village of Epps in West Carroll Parish in northeastern Louisiana.
Directions:
From I-20, take the Delhi exit and travel north onto LA 17, turn east on LA 134 and north onto LA 577.
Poverty Point comprises several earthworks and mounds built between 1800 and 700 BCE, during the Archaic period in the Americas by a group of Native Americans of the Poverty Point culture. The culture extended 100 miles (160 km) across the Mississippi Delta. The original purposes of Poverty Point have not been determined by archaeologists, although they have proposed various possibilities including that it was: a settlement, a trading center, and/or a ceremonial religious complex.
The 910-acre (1.42 sq mi; 3.68 km2) site, which has been described as the largest and most complex Late Archaic earthwork occupation and ceremonial site yet found in North America is a registered National Monument. The monument was brought to the attention of archaeologists in the early 20th century, when it was given the name of Poverty Point after a nearby plantation. Since then, various excavations have taken place at the site.

Louisiana's Native American Mounds
Louisiana has more than 700 mound sites in the state, sacred to Native people
Pueblos and Mound Builders
The Pueblos and Mound Builders represent the height of pre-contact American urban sophistication. The Pueblos built towns in the American Southwest centered on trade routes that served as ceremonial centers. The Mound Builders established a cultural imprint that extended from Louisiana to New York. Their culture was centered on trade and the exchange of ceremonial gifts. The Mound Builder culture was centered on elaborate burial mounds for kin leaders.

It's hard to look right,At you baby,But here's my number, So call me, maybe?

Civil War Defenses of Washington - Fort DeRussy
The United States Capitol was located below the Mason-Dixon Line and therefore within enemy territory. It was necessary to construct series of forts to protect Washington, DC. Fort DeRussy helped to protect a neighboring fort during a key battle where President Lincoln actually witnessed the battle. The Battle of Fort Stevens was the only battle in United States history that a seated U.S. President actually saw combat and was fired upon. Here the earthworks of the fort's walls are preserved in Rock Creek Park by the vegetation preserved by the National Park Service.
Important Lost Mound City Of Castalian Springs, Tennessee
A report on the kind of lost forgotten mound city called the Castilian Springs Mound Site. 12 mounds originally, one 600 ft. long and palisade walls, conical mounds and some pretty cool artifacts. Today one lonely hill is all that reminds of us of a once important city in present Tennessee.
