Marshall Point Lighthouse. Port Clyde, Maine
Marshall Point Light Station was established in 1832 to assist boats entering and leaving Port Clyde Harbor. The original lighthouse was a 20-foot (6.1 m) tower lit by seven lard oil lamps with 14-inch reflectors.[1]
The original tower was replaced with the present lighthouse in 1857. The lighthouse is a 31-foot (9.4 m) tall white brick tower on a granite foundation. The tower was originally lit with a 5th order Fresnel lens. A raised wooden walkway connects the tower to land.[1]
In 1895, the original keeper's house was destroyed by lightning. A Colonial Revival style house was built to replace it. An oil house and a bell tower with a 1,000-pound (450 kg) bell were added in 1898. The bell was replaced with a fog horn in 1969.[1]

The lighthouse was automated in 1980 and the original Fresnel lens was replaced with a modern 12 inches (300 mm) optic.[4] The original lens is at the Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland. In 1986, the St. George Historical Society restored the keeper's house and established the Marshall Point Lighthouse Museum there, presenting the histories of Marshall Point Light and other nearby lighthouses.[4] The light station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.[3]
The lighthouse appeared in the 1994 film Forrest Gump.[5]
The light station was transferred to the town of St. George in 1998 under the Maine Lights Program. The fog signal has been dismantled but the bell remains on display.

Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. New Harbor, Maine USA
The lighthouse was commissioned in 1827 by John Quincy Adams and built that year. Due to poor workmanship (salt water was used in the mortar mix), the lighthouse began to crumble and was replaced in 1835. The second contract for the construction stipulated that only fresh water be used. Keeper Isaac Dunham oversaw the construction and wrote in a letter to the US Lighthouse Establishment that the agreement was upheld and the work went well.
The original light was an Argand-Lewis parabolic reflector, lit with candles and with a visibility of 2 miles (3.2 km). Augustin Fresnel invented a superior way of focusing light in the early 1850s and most lighthouses in the US were converted to the Fresnel Lens, with Pemaquid Point receiving a fourth order Fresnel in 1856. The lens is one of only six Fresnel lenses still in service in Maine.[4] The keeper's house was built in 1857.
Marcus A. Hanna, the only man ever awarded both the Medal of Honor (earned during Civil War for bravery on July 4, 1863 [5]) and the Gold Lifesaving Medal (for rescuing life on January 28, 1885 at Cape Elizabeth, once served as keeper of the light. The station was automated in 1934.
By popular vote of Maine residents, the lighthouse was chosen to be featured on the Maine quarter, the 23rd in the 50 State Quarters Program issued by the U.S. Mint. Also depicted is a 3-masted schooner intended to resemble the Victory Chimes. Exposed bedrock descends from the lighthouse to the ocean creating a unique, scenic landscape. The geological history of these formations dates back hundreds of millions of years. These imposing structures have made this lighthouse with its setting one of the most photographed on the Maine coast.
In addition to the image found on the state quarter, an image of Pemaquid Point lighthouse is featured as a possible background in Windows 7.
The lighthouse is owned by the U.S. Coast Guard and is licensed to the American Lighthouse Foundation.
The lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places as Pemaquid Point Light on April 16, 1985

Here it is! First U.S. National Park visit in the books! We saw puffins, climbed a steep hike, went to Cadillac Mountain, and ate lobster. The locations in this video are the reason I still think about Maine, even though it has been over a month since the trip. This was the first half of our trip to Maine- I'll be uploading another video about the sights we saw in Portland and the surrounding areas since I have more footage!

The Great Race 2018 Arriving in Bangor, Maine
This movie shows the overnight stop of the Hemming Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty, in Bangor, Maine on June 27, 2018.
The Great Race is the world premiere old car rally. It brought 120 of the world’s finest antique automobiles to Bangor Waterfront.
In all, the participants in the event will cover more than 2,300 miles in 9 days. The start will be at the Pierce Arrow Museum in Buffalo, NY and will finish in Halifax, NS as part of the city’s Canada Day Celebration. Teams and cars from Japan, England, Germany, Canada, and every corner of the United States will be participating in their vintage automobiles dating back as far as 1913.

Henry Knox (July 25, 1750 -- October 25, 1806) was a military officer of the Continental Army and later the United States Army, and also served as the first United States Secretary of War.
Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, he owned and operated a bookstore there, cultivating an interest in military history and joining a local artillery company. When the American Revolutionary War broke out in 1775, he befriended General George Washington, and quickly rose to become the chief artillery officer of the Continental Army. In this role he accompanied Washington on most of his campaigns, and had some involvement in many major actions of the war. He established training centers for artillerymen and manufacturing facilities for weaponry that were valuable assets to the fledgling nation.
Following the adoption of the United States Constitution, he became President Washington's Secretary of War. In this role he oversaw the development of coastal fortifications, worked to improve the preparedness of local militia, and oversaw the nation's military activity in the Northwest Indian War. He was formally responsible for the nation's relationship with the Indian population in the territories it claimed, articulating a policy that established federal government supremacy over the states in relating to Indian nations, and called for treating Indian nations as sovereign. Knox's idealistic views on the subject were frustrated by ongoing illegal settlements and fraudulent land transfers involving Indian lands.
He retired to what is now Thomaston, Maine in 1795, where he oversaw the rise of a business empire built on borrowed money. He died in 1806 from an infection received after swallowing a chicken bone, leaving an estate that was bankrupt.

Our third visit ever to the state of Maine brings us to this highly popular locale within Cape Elizabeth's Casco Bay in Maine. Surely it won't be our last visit and well, we thought it appropriate to share with anyone who hasn't visited a small taste of what this historical attraction is like.
We've got another version or two created from different devices. For this video compilation we used the Iphone 6 which worked out extraordinarily well with its superior stabilization. Although, we also made use of the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 Gimbal.

The Absecon Lighthouse is located on the north end of Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA coast overlooking Absecon Inlet. At 171 feet (52 meters) it is the tallest lighthouse in the state of New Jersey and is the third-tallest masonry lighthouse in the United States. Construction began in 1854, with the light first lit on January 15, 1857. The lighthouse was deactivated in 1933 and although the light still shines every night, it is no longer an active navigational aid. The lighthouse is open to public visitation and for a small donation one may climb the 228 steps to the watch room and external gallery. A re-creation of the keepers' quarters was opened in 2002 and serves as a museum and gift shop. The original oil house now contains a Fresnel lens exhibit. It was designed by George Meade and still retains its original first-order fixed Fresnel lens. The lens is made of lead glass and weighs 12,800 pounds (5,800 kg) As the light was fixed (non-flashing), it does not have a landward segment allowing visitors to look up in the lens where the keepers entered it for maintenance. Jack E. Boucher conceived and oversaw the preservation of the lighthouse in 1964. The lighthouse is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places, the Historic American Buildings Survey, and the New Jersey Register of Historic Places.
