Highlights From Matilda — The Musical in London
The Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Matilda — The Musical, based on the 1988 Roald Dahl novel, is currently playing to acclaim at the Cambridge Theatre in London's West End. Rumors about a Broadway future are swirling, but there's been no official announcement. Directed by Matthew Warchus (Ghost The Musical, God of Carnage, Boeing-Boeing), the show has a book by playwright and screenwriter Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Australian stand-up comic, musician and composer Tim Minchin. The story of a little girl with extraordinary powers, Matilda stars Eleanor Worthington Cox, Cleo Demetriou, Kerry Ingram and Sophia Kiely alternating in the title role, and Bertie Carvel as Miss Trunchbull.

This video features snippets of Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical that opened in Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands Singapore on 21 February 2019 and played till 17 March 2019.
For watch collectors, notably Rolex enthusiasts, they’d probably know that 1988 was the year Rolex equipped its famed Daytona with the Calibre 4030 automatic movement. This was an improved Zenith El Primero movement which did not beat at 36,000 vibrations per hour (VPH) but at 28,800 VPH.
For fans of well-known author Roald Dahl, they might also know that 1988 was the year Matilda was published. It was Dahl’s last children’s book.
In 2010, Matilda The Musical, a production by The Royal Shakespeare Company, opened at The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in England. After playing for 12 weeks (November 2010 to January 2011), it was subsequently transferred to London’s West End. It is said that more than eight million people have watched Matilda The Musical in London.
In 2013, Matilda The Musical opened on Broadway at Shubert Theatre in New York City.

As Britain prepares to go to the polls, Lara McDonnell, Anna-Louise Knight, Matilda Shapland and Violet Tucker discuss what they would do if they were Prime Minister. The four girls share the title role in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical which is now booking through to 29 May 2016.
Matilda The Musical has now received over 50 awards in Stratford-upon-Avon, London and New York. Sweeping the board at the 2012 Laurence Olivier Awards, winning a record-breaking seven awards, Matilda The Musical has gone on to take Broadway by storm winning four Tony Awards® and a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theater for each of the four girls sharing the title role. During 2015, the London and Broadway productions of Matilda The Musical will be joined by the US tour opening in Los Angeles at the end of May and the Australian premiere in Sydney this August.
