Matsunoo-taisha Shrine (Matsuo-taisha) maple in Early autumn on November, Kyoto, Japan.

Matsuno Taisha Grand Shrine, Kyoto City, Japan
Matsuno Taisha Grand Shrine is located in the western city skirts of the Kyoto City. It is actually located on the Western end of the Shijo Dori (fourth avenue), which has Yasaka Shrine on the Eastern end of it. Since it is adjacent to Mt. Matsuo, it was also known as Matsuosan.
It is a shrine that is not well known to the foreign tourists but very popular to western Kyoto city dwellers. About one third of the Kyoto City residents consider Matusno Taisha Grand Shrine for all their philosophical and religions needs.
This shrine is known for it's god that protects the ancient Kyoto city but also the sake brewing god. It is said that the Sake will never go bad if it is brewed with a portion of the Kamenoi sprint water found in the Shrine. Also, in the back of the shrine you can find the shrine symbolizing the sake brewing god.
The views of the outside shrine around the Kamo river are definitely breathtaking.
Hope you get a chance to visit the shrine and enjoy it.
Matsuo Shrine 松尾神社) in Yamashirochō, Kyoto-fu!
The entrance to Matsuo Shrine (松尾神社) in Yamashirochō, Kyoto-fu is situated on a hilly forest in the country side of Tsubai. Not many people come here although there is a small race track for remote controlled racing cars next to the temple grounds. There are small bamboo forests all around and a string of withered bamboo leaves covered the steps to the shrine.
What is interesting is the Kaguraden or the place where Kagura dances are performed. There are many large ema decorating its walls. Some seem quite old, as the paint is worn out by time.
Walking around in this area, time seems to stand still, birds are chirping, farmers are tending to their fields and a peaceful atmosphere fills the air.

After the first Shinto shrine visit of the Kyoto New Year in Matsuo Taisya Shrine
Matsuo Taisha Shrine is an interesting ancient shrine on the outskirts of Kyoto that offers a little more to see and do than most of the often visited shrines in the area. It is also less crowded.
Located near Arashiyama, it was founded in 701, almost 100 years before the founding of Kyoto. It was founded by the head of the Hata clan, an immigrant clan that ruled the area before the moving of the capital from Nara. The Hata also founded the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine.
The Hata were instrumental in bringing sake brewing techniques from Korea, and the shrine has a deep and long association with sake brewers, who still take water from the sacred well Kame no I, located in the shrine.
The shrine grounds are home to 3, 000 rose bushes which are in bloom during April and May.
About 30 years ago, the famous landscape designer and painter, Mirei Shigemori, built (at great expense) three gardens at the shrine, the Iwakura Garden, in ancient style, the Horai Garden, in Kamakura era style, and the Kyokusui Garden, in Heian era style. They are considered some of the best modern gardens in Japan.
1) Goshu Ondo (bon odori) at Matsuo Shrine in Kyoto
