Probably the worst recording, technically (and relatively) speaking, of my trip to Ireland. The quiet instruments were furthest away from the recorder, and the loudest instrument was the closest.
Still a good recording of an excellent trad set.

Maureen Browne has toured extensively with the Alan Kelly Gang, Scottish singer Eddi Reader, Máirtín O’Connor, and the Contempo Quartet. She has performed at the Milwaukee Irish Festival, the Celtic Colours International Festival, the Edmonton Folk Festival, and the National Folk Festival. Brendan Browne became a member of the Riverdance ‘Flying’ Squad band in his late teens and has performed as an actor and musician in Séamus Ó Scolaí's translation of Vincent Woods's At Black Pig's Dyke. Peter Vickers has toured extensively with Michael Flatley’s Lord Of The Dance and has danced for presidents Mary McAleese and Michael D Higgins. He has also worked with Sharon Shannon and Frankie Gavin.

I also push myself to my personal limits and I feel if I stuck to rigid rules, my output would be boring. For example,being out of focus for a couple of seconds is all a part and parcel of things.

Matt Molloy, flute player
In November of 2011, Blayne Chastain and I had the opportunity to go to Ireland for 10 days to film flute players for our documentary, “The Keymaster: Patrick Olwell’s Story”. We met and interviewed 14 flute players, traveled over 1,000Km, and had one of the most memorable trips of our lives.
One highlight of our trip was getting to meet, and interview, Matt Molloy of The Chieftans, at his pub in Westport, County Mayo. Matt was very gracious, and even stood us to a pint of Guinness. His stories about Pat and his flutes kept us entertained, and at the end Blayne got to have his Olwell played by Matt as they shared a few tunes. An incredible experience all around...

Westport is a beautiful Irish town full of pubs offering traditional music. We lucked out catching a concert at Matt Molloy's Pub (Matt's a member of The Chieftains). Scots singer Kathleen MacInnes, singing 17th & 18th century songs only in Gaelic was accompanied by the acclaimed Irish harpist and Westport native, Laoise Kelley, and both enthralled the inter-generational audience.
