Breckenridge Colorado-Day 2 Hiking McCullough's Gulch
Today we hike McCullough's Gulch Trail. I'm not going to lie...it was tough but so well worth it! Great views and great fun. After the hike we spent the afternoon in the hot tub soaking our feet:) We ate dinner at The Canteen and went to bed early. The next video is the full adventure hiking McCullough's Gulch. Coming soon!
Breckenridge Hike
Our hike in Breckenridge, CO. McCullough Gulch was the name of the hike, and it worked its way up a pretty rough mountainside to a max elevation of about 12,000ft, where there's a glacial lake that feeds the river and waterfalls that cascade down the mountain alongside the trail. It was absolutely gorgeous!

Places to see in ( Breckenridge - USA )
Breckenridge is a Colorado town at the base of the Rocky Mountains’ Tenmile Range. It's known for its ski resort, year-round alpine activities and Gold Rush history. The Victorian core of this former mining town is preserved as the Breckenridge National Historic District, running primarily along Main Street, with colorfully painted buildings from the 1880s and '90s housing shops, galleries and restaurants.
Set at the foot of the marvelous Tenmile Range, Breck is a surviving mining town with a vibrant historic district. The down-to-earth vibe is a refreshing change from Colorado's glitzier resorts, and the family-friendly ski runs and gold-nugget history make it Summit County's most atmospheric destination. Regardless of whether it’s snow or shine, the BreckConnect Gondola up to the base of Peak 8 is where the fun begins.
The vast, hulking mountains here rise and fall, merging seamlessly into one another to present a perfect alpine backdrop. Laced with ski runs and hiking trails and stitched together with pine groves, they blaze gold in the morning, glow pink at dusk and fade into a deep shadowy blue as the sky pales then darkens, revealing endless stars best viewed from a frothing hot tub next to the roaring Blue River.

Mohawk Lakes Trail | Breckenridge, Colorado | With Dog
Me and Sparky are headed up the Mohawk Lakes Trail, it also features a super big waterfall you can get up close and personal with. Me and sparky had beautiful weather for the hike.
The hike
This hike was 8.6 miles out and back rated moderate, I would say the beginning was very easy moderate, once you get up near the falls and upper lake though it switches over to more difficult.
Good thing me and sparky love difficult and challenging hikes!
This hike took us about 4-5 hours we took plenty of breaks and had an amazing time!

McCullough Mountain Hike-Sort Of
This is a short video of my hike to McCullough Mountain via the Washes Route. I say sort off because I was off on my navigation and ended up summiting an unnamed peak about .1 of a mile away. It still was an awesome hike in the mountains with a little bovine excitement at the end.
Our Hiking Mishap at McCullough Gulch
It was a beautiful sunny day and one of the last of the season so we decided to go for an easy family hike unlike our typical long, strenuous day hikes. Well things didn't quite go as planned (of course). Despite cars blocking the road and Tati whining the whole way up, the beauty of the McCullough Gulch's alpine lake made it all worth it in the end.

CDT Thru Hike 2018 Ep 14 - Breckenridge to I70 (Frisco) - Summits & Storm Clouds
Summits & Storm Clouds - In this episode of my Continental Divide Trail Thru Hike Documentary, I hike from Breckenridge to I-70 (Frisco). It's a 54 mile hike over 2 half days and one full day. After seeing Sprinkler in every town since Chama, we finally ran into each other on trail and with a similar schedule. We ended up hiking this whole section together. The CDT splits off the Colorado Trail here and climbs up to some 13,000ft ridges. Excellent views this whole section through the Arapaho National Forest. There's an awesome knife edge ridge leading from Mt. Edwards to the CDT highpoint of 14,261 at Grays Peak. Colorado hiking at it's best right here.

Visiting Isak Heartstone in Breckenridge Colorado with Ollie Pop the husky
Ollie Pop and I went to Breckenridge Colorado to see Isak Heartstone the famous troll. This is a short walk in the woods to see a cool sculpture by artist Thomas Dambo. It is a good trail to take children. There are other trails nearby to check out.

Spartan Beast Breckenridge, Colorado 2016
2016 Colorado Beast
This race started off at 9,400 ft and clime to 11,400 ft for the first three miles and the back down to 9,500 ft and then back up. Altitude sickness was apparent throughout. Beautiful scenery!! Total course mileage on Garmin was a little over 15 miles (Spartan does not count the distance on an obstacle so their mileage is less). Very tough course. Awesome event! Probably toughest I have ever attempted. Also give credit to my older brother, he is a great sportsman and made sure he did not leave me behind. Aroo!!

Hike Breckenridge, Colorado | EPIC hike rocky mountains
#hike #rockymountains #breckenridgecolorado Colorado is beautiful.. and what better way to experience everything CO has to offer than by hiking its breathtaking mountains?! We've been on many many hikes in the past 5 years but this hike takes the cake BY FAR. We didn't really know what to expect because when we first found the hike it was on the app #alltrails and we had never been to this part of #Breckenridge . This hike is more secluded but the views are phenomenal . So if you're ever in the #BreckenridgeColorado area and wanting some fresh air, adventure, & adrenaline then head out to #bluelakes and hike #MonteCristoGulch trail :) I wouldn't recommend this hike if you have kids on your back. I also wouldn't recommend this hike for your dog! Our dog is very athletic and we didn't bring him because of the difficulty level. This was one of the funnest days of filming that we've had in a while! So hopefully you will get some laughs and some #hikeinspiration while you watch! The bloopers at the end are hilarious too :)

Hike to the summit of Mt. Quandary, Colorado (west ridge route)
Powell and Stuart's ascent up the west ridge of Mount Quandary from the McCullough Gulch trailhead near Breckenridge, CO. Elevation of the peak, 14,265 ft (4348 m). We hit the trail at 6 AM, August 24, 2012, reached the summit at 10:30, and were back down shortly after 2 PM. The elevation gain on the 6.6 mile (10.6 km) round trip is 3,185 ft (971 m). We found a dozen folks at the top, all of whom had come up the easy Class 1 east ridge route. [There's no such thing as an easy fourteener!] We were the only ones that day who came up the Class 3 west ridge. It was our first experience of a climb of that difficulty, and we thank God for giving us dry weather, strength, endurance, and steady footing! Psalm 104, Psalm 121, Philippians 3:13-14, Philippians 4:13. Press on! Can do!
