Guadalupe Mountains National Park - Hiking McKittrick Canyon & Devil's Hall in one day
We were super excited about hiking Guadalupe Mountains National Park because we were lucky enough to time it perfectly for the fall colors and therefore see McKittrick Canyon Trail at it's best - and I can see why it is often called The Most Beautiful Hike in Texas. Because we were feeling ambitious we tacked on the Devil's Hall trail on the same day.
We are Matt & Diana and we live in an RV full time and are on a journey to visit all 400+ National Park Units. To follow us along subscribe to our channel

Hiking McKittrick Canyon at Guadalupe Mountains National Park
We wake up to a surprise at Brantley Lake State Park near Carlsbad, NM. Then we make way to back to Guadalupe Mountains National Park to explore the famous McKittrick Canyon. Such a perfect day of sunshine and great views. This video is longer than our usual videos as it was our last full day in the Guadalupe Mountains. We wanted to capture it all. We hope you enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed making it of all of you.

McKittrick Canyon - Guadalupe Mountains
Hiking McKittrick Canyon in the Fall
Hiking McKittrick Canyon to Dog Canyon, Guadalupe Mountains National Park
My brother and I hiked the McKittrick Canyon trail to Dog Canyon, summiting McKittrick Ridge (Pt. 7716), Pt. 7916, and Lost Peak. I also sumitted Pt. 7275 on the way back the next day. It was a cold night at Dog Canyon since my sleeping bag wasn't up to the task, but otherwise we enjoyed ourselves and took in some great views.
Backpacking the Most Beautiful Spot in Texas - McKittirck Canyon
In Part 3 of my 3 part trip to Guadalupe Mountains National Park, I hike through The Most Beautiful Spot in Texas, McKittrick Canyon. I start in the desert near the mouth of the canyon and eventually make my way past the Pratt Lodge, the Grotto, the Hunter Line Shack, and up one of the hardest climbs in the state to McKittrick Ridge Campsite. The views from the top are breath taking. After reaching the campsite, I have now finished every trail at Guadalupe Mountains National Park.
It was a great way to end my trip in a place that is very special to me.

Exploring Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Texas
Guadalupe Mountain is the tallest peak of Texas at 8,700 feet. We visited the park and climbed to the very top to TX! It's a small park with a few other trails, but the main attraction is the summit.

Hiking Pt. 7040 - McKittrick Canyon, Guadalupe Mountains National Park
I did this hike after I finished Pt. 6756 on the Tejas trail earlier in the morning. Other than it being a little windy at times, the weather was awesome, and I got to see McKittrick Canyon from a unique angle.
The next hike I did at the Guadalupe Mountains was with Mark from TheHallsOfAsgard channel.
Here is the video he made of that hike:
McKittrick Canyon
Explorer Post 806 from Lubbock Texas made this trip to McKittrick Canyon in the fall of 1972. The original footage was shot in Supper 8mm Ektachrome film which was digitized much later. In this film's earliest showings, the sound track was played by a cassette player and the film was projected by a home movie projector. Lubbock's Post 806 was one of the earliest co-ed high-adventure scout groups anywhere.

Winter Camping in the Guadalupe Mountains
The Guadalupe Mountains. Hidden in the Lincoln National Forest, this area stretches from Southeastern New Mexico into Texas. The Camp Wilderness Ridge Trail starts out at a dead end road and goes for about 3 miles until you get to McKattrick Canyon. If you continue on the trailm, you will cross over into Texas and into the Guadalupe National Park. Elevation at the top of the ridge was about 7, 300 FT.
