Melkote or Melukote is located in Mandya District of Karnataka.The power of the arrow to draw water from the rocks is the story behind Dhanushkoti. There is a beautiful Wildlife sanctuary in Melukote. This is a large area at great hight on the mountain. There are many parts of this sanctuary such as special gardens, sapta rishi vana, ashoka vana, rasi vana, naksatra vana, nandana vana, various view points, temples etc. The extreme end of the sanctuary is a mountain cliff called Dhanuskoti. It is a marvelous place with astounding views. We also climbed on the cliff and took a lot of pictures.
Melukote-Raya-Gopura
Melukote is a beautiful piligrim center about 150 kms from Bangalore. It is famous for Yoga Narasimha Swamy temple, Cheluve Narayana temple, Satya Narayana temple and many other temples. These pictures are taken at Raya Gopura about half km south to Cheluve Narayana temple. This is a beautiful structure of a huge ”gopura“ (or entrance) made of stone.

These pictures are taken near two ponds named “akka“ (elder sister) and “tangi“ (younger sister) ponds. These are two beautiful ponds on the way while going from Cheluve Narayana temple to Raya Gopura.

Melukote is a popular religious place and a beautiful hill station about 150 kms from Bangalore. It is famous for Narasimha and Narayana temples. These pictures are taken at Cheluve Narayana temple which is one of the most important temples of Melukote. Apart from the main deity at the center there are four deities at the four sides of the temple. We got free prasad (Puliogere) in the temple.

Melukote is a popular religious place and beautiful hill station about 150 kms from Bangalore. It is famous for Yoga Narasimha Swamy temple. From the temple tank Kalyani you can take a walk through the steps to reach Yoga narasimha swamy temple. Otherwise you can drive half the way and take the steps towards the end. The temple is at a hight of 1780 meters. We could feel extremely cold bleeze even in summer season. As it is at a great height we could get good views of the sorroundings from the temple.

There are many small temples around the pond.Yoga Narasimha temple and Cheluve Narayana Temples are about half km from the pond in different directions.

The magnificent KRS dam was built by visveshwaraya in Mandya.

Mandya has unique kannada slang and it is called Mandya kannada which very famous and used mostly in kannada films too.
Since Mandya is located on the banks of the river Cauvery, agriculture is the predominant occupation and the single largest contributor to Mandya's economy .

Melukote in Karnataka: A Land with a Rich Heritage
Melukote is located in the Mandya district of Karnataka. It is considered a highly sacred place in South India. Melukote lies at a distance of 51 kms from Mysore and 133 kms from Bangalore. It is in the Pandavapura taluka and famous for the Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple.
It is believed that the saint Ramanuja stayed here for 12 years and it thus became a prominent location for Brahmins.

Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple: It is the most important temple in Mandya. Dedicated to Lord Cheluva-Narayana Swamy, the temple is also frequented by the Kings of Mysore. The temple has an exquisite collection of the jewels. There are three crowns presented to the temple which are kept in safe custody and brought out on special occasions.
It is located on the top of the Yadugiri hills and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. People belonging to the Vaishnava community consider it an important shrine. The Goddess in the temple is Yadugiri Nachiyar.

Mandya Flower show 2018 || Flower show at Cauvery Vana Mandya
The Departments of Horticulture, Agriculture and Fisheries together have organised a five-day Mandya Flower Show from 01 Nov 2018 at Cauvery Vana and at the premises of District Horticulture Department Mandya. The Mandya Flower Show is open daily from 9 am to 9 pm with cultural programmes from 6.30 pm to 9 pm by local talents.
The Show has different types of flowering plants, stalls exhibiting various products, food joints and information zone on organic farming and horticulture variants. Also included are sand sculptures of the Doyen of Horticulture Dr. M.H. Marigowda and Lord Anjaneya, carved vegetables, millet fair, demo of new agricultural practices, apiculture and many more informative joints.
Special attractions include floral replicas of butterfly, peacock, elephant, guitar and tabla along with bonsai collection, hydroponics and fountains.
The entry fee for Mandya Flowershow is free for school students, Rs. 20 for adults and Rs. 10 for children.

Mahadevapura is located in Mandya district of Karnataka in India. A great picnic spot which is quite far away from modern world. Mahadevapura offers some of the prettiest frames for any cinematographer. Forest scenes and adventurous events. The place is near Ranganathittu, Srirangapatna along side Gende Hosalli Bird Sanctuary . The picnic spot is just 1Km away from the village Mahadevapura. The river Cauvery (Kaveri) flows through a thick forest surrounding the place.
A check dam that has been built across the river Cauvery to irrigate agricultural land has also added to the charm of the place. Huge rock formations offer an ideal picnic opportunity. Mahadevapura is un disturbed by the modern world and lot of migratory birds visit this place during the entire year. The place is located on the banks of river Kaveri. There is also a small old temple near the river bank.
