Mass Murder of Bukovinian and Bessrabian deportees in Voronovitsa
Anastasia Iachichenko, who was born in Voronovitsa in 1923 and was living there during the war years, tells how during the mass-shooting of the Jews deported to Voronovitsa from Bukovina and Bessarabia she heard the submachine gun volleys, how the people told her that the earth at the murder site was shifting for a long time. Iachichenko tells how several days after the massacre she went to the murder site and saw with her own eyes the traces of the murder and part of the bodies sticking out of the pits

José Luis Merlin performing for the first time at the Eastern-Europe largest Jewish Community Center called the MENORAH, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine 22.08.2013
I would like to express special gratitude - to Rabbi of Dnepropetrovsk and Dnepropetrovsk region Shmuel Kaminetsky for his warm welcome and total assistance.
I am also very grateful to a contemporary poet and member of the Jewish community Inna Radinovskaya. Without her inspirational support at the stage of organizing this event it could have never become possible.
I was very happy collaborating with all the other people who helped me to make this event possible. I would like to mention the secretary of Ravi Smuel - Baila for her always ''being there'', our sound engineer Alexander Osadchy, Larisa who helped us to get comfortable at the concerthall and our charming guide Anna Medvedovskaya who made my visit to Holocaust Museum really unforgettable. I am thankful to my fantastic audience for their enthusiastic clapping :). Without any doubt, I have only most pleasant memories and feelings after this concert!'' J.L.Merlin

Holodomor
The Holodomor (Ukrainian: Голодомор, Extermination by hunger or Hunger-extermination; derived from 'морити голодом', to kill by starvation ) was a famine in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1932 and 1933 that killed up to about 10 million Ukrainians according to Stanislav Kulchytsky. During the famine, which is also known as the Terror-Famine in Ukraine and Famine-Genocide in Ukraine, millions of citizens of the Ukrainian SSR, the majority of whom were Ukrainians, died of starvation in a peacetime catastrophe unprecedented in the history of Ukraine. Since 2006, the Holodomor has been recognized by the independent Ukraine and several other countries as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Early estimates of the death toll by scholars and government officials varied greatly; anywhere from 1.8 to 12 million ethnic Ukrainians were said to have perished as a result of the famine. Recent research has since narrowed the estimates to between 2.4 and 7.5 million. The exact number of deaths is hard to determine, due to a lack of records, but the number increases significantly when the deaths inside heavily Ukrainian-populated Kuban are included. Older estimates are still often cited in political commentary. According to the decision of Kyiv Appellation Court, the demographic losses due to the famine amounted to 10 million, with 3.9 million famine deaths, and a 6.1 million birth deficit.

SUMMARY
=======
The Holodomor (Ukrainian: Голодомо́р; derived from морити голодом, to kill by starvation) was a man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine in 1932 and 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians. It is also known as the Terror-Famine and Famine-Genocide in Ukraine, and sometimes referred to as the Great Famine or The Ukrainian Genocide of 1932–33. It was part of the wider Soviet famine of 1932–33, which affected the major grain-producing areas of the country. During the Holodomor, millions of inhabitants of Ukraine, the majority of whom were ethnic Ukrainians, died of starvation in a peacetime catastrophe unprecedented in the history of Ukraine. Since 2006, the Holodomor has been recognized by Ukraine and 15 other countries as a genocide of the Ukrainian people carried out by the Soviet government.Early estimates of the death toll by scholars and government officials varied greatly. According to higher estimates, up to 12 million ethnic Ukrainians were said to have perished as a result of the famine. A U.N. joint statement signed by 25 countries in 2003 declared that 7–10 million perished. Research has since narrowed the estimates to between 3.3 and 7.5 million. According to the findings of the Court of Appeal of Kiev in 2010, the demographic losses due to the famine amounted to 10 million, with 3.9 million direct famine deaths, and a further 6.1 million birth deficit. Some scholars believe that the famine was planned by Joseph Stalin to eliminate a Ukrainian independence movement. Using Holodomor in reference to the famine emphasises its man-made aspects, arguing that actions such as rejection of outside aid, confiscation of all household foodstuffs, and restriction of population movement confer intent, defining the famine as genocide; the loss of life has been compared to that of the Holocaust. The causes are still a subject of academic debate, and some historians dispute its characterization as a genocide.

A Family Journey Backwards HQ uncut 01of06 new version
PART ONE OF SIX NEW VERSION
Here is the new version of my family documentary. It is now in 6 parts each one one hour in length except pt.6 which is around 30-40 minutes long. This is the only documentary you will ever find which concentrates on the Carpathian Mountain region of Northern Romania/Southern Ukraine. The region can be found by the Tisza River.Collected here are 17 holocaust survivors mostly from the same village of Luh.Luh is now called Lug.Under the Hungarians it was called Tiszalonka or just Lonka. The film covers before, during, and immediately after World War 2.You will learn about the Jewish life before WW2.Babies born, marriage customs, life in a small village with no running water or electricity. The types of homes these folk had.The things they did in their youth. Then we move on to the war years and the trials they went thru. The film shows them coming home after the war to see who had survived and to make a life for themselves.then the russians take over.they lose everything and end up leaving for a new life elsewhere.Family ends up in USA,Israel,Canada,Australia,Europe.
Also this documentary took me around 5 years to make.It is full of archival film footage, still photos, historical explanations, and of course the testimony of 17 survivors who will tell you all.
I have also uploaded this in many short ten minute segments but now that more and more people have the ability to watch long form videos I have now given you these new full length uploads.you can now sit back and watch the whole program with no interruptions. If you are technically aware you may be able to watch this out to your flat panel TV.
Enjoy my art and learn of this region. There are also good maps to illustrate the region locations. For more information on this subject feel free to enter the Kratz Family Holocaust Memorial at this weblink.Histories,Maps, and still photos are on my website.
Острог: в тіні історії | Ostroh: in the shadow of history
