La Riviera Maya si trova nella penisola dello Yucatan (Mexixo), nello
stato di Quintana Roo. Playa del Carmen, a soli 52 km dall'aeroporto di Cancún, e a una distanza simile dalla zona archeologica di Tulum, si trova Playa del Carmen, antico villaggio di pescatori, conosciuto col nome maya di Xaman Há.
Playa, come ormai la conoscono gli italiani, lo è diventata grazie ai
molteplici investimenti che, in pochi anni, hanno favorito il suo sviluppo.
Quello che era un luogo di grande semplicità, non più di un porto
da cuipartivano i traghetti per l'isola di Cozumel, è diventato uno
dei centri diattrazione turistica più importanti e sofisticati della
Riviera Maya. Playa del Carmen offre tutto quello che ci si aspetta
di trovare in una località turistica del Caribe: lussuosi alberghi, dotati
di tutte le comodità che il turismo internazionale esige, così come
piccoli alloggi con servizio personalizzato di ottima qualità; numerosi
bar, centri commerciali, ristoranti tradizionali e internazionali, centri culturali e ricreativi e attività sportive.
La Quinta Avenida, arteria principale della cittadina, è ricca di invitanti

Anche nel Messico, e Playa del Carmen, il Natale arriva come momento di riconciliazione e di riflessione. Una tradizione che fortifica i legami familiari e di amicizia. Le feste prendono il via il 16 dicembre, con l'inizio delle «posadas» che danno il benvenuto alla Vigilia e al Natale.
Una tradizione questa di origine cattolica. Quando il re Erode infatti, decise di uccidere tutti i bambini per evitare la nascita del Messia, Maria e San Giuseppe iniziarono un pellegrinaggio chiedendo ospitalità per la nascita del loro figlio Gesù.
Per questa ragione le posadas si celebrano sette giorni prima del Natale e nelle case si montano i presepi per ricordare la nascita di Gesù. La posada viene celebrata da due gruppi di persone: uno all'interno dell'abitazione e l'altro fuori, a simboleggiare i pellegrini che, al canto di una litanìa, chiedevano ospitalità. Il gruppo all'esterno porta con sé un' immagine di Giuseppe e Maria e una candela accesa. Al termine del canto, i pellegrini vengono accolti nella casa dove inizia la festa e si rompe la «piñata».

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort Walk Around 2016 - Mayan Riviera, Mexico. If you're having trouble making a decision about which resort to stay at check out this video tour I made from our 10th Anniversary trip in Feb/Mar 2016. I made this video of the Barcelo Maya Beach All Inclusive because before we chose this resort for our vacation we spent hours researching online, checking out all inclusive resorts. I also made one for the Barcelo Karmina in Manzanillo last year that proved to be incredibly helpful for viewers. I hope this video helps you in your vacation destination selection process. Barcelo Maya Caribe Beach Resort Vacation, Riviera Maya Mexico in January
Here are a few photos from our January vacation at the Barcelo Maya Caribe Beach Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. This all-inclusive resort is absolutely gorgeous! The beaches and pools are huge and very clean. The meals were great and the people were very friendly and pleasant to be around. We had a 3rd floor balcony that overlooked the beautiful palm trees and lush gardens. Since we went so soon after the holidays, they still had lights on all of the palm trees at night! Hubby had a blast on a wave runner with his friend. We would highly recommend this resort to everyone! During the day, it was in the mid 80's the entire trip and then what a drag to come home to the mid 20's!!
