The great Snow Geese migration: Middle Creek (Pa.) Wildlife Management Area
Tens of thousands of snow geese, up to 70,000 or more, stop over at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area on the Lancaster-Lebanon county line near Kleinfeltersville, Pa. The geese gather to rest and feed at Middle Creek and the surrounding area, before continuing north to their breeding grounds. Tundra swans and Canada geese are also among the migrating waterfowl at Middle Creek. The period that annually attracts the most birds to Middle Creek, and visitors, remains late winter, when large numbers of migrating waterfowl normally appear. In recent years, more than 100,000 snow geese, 10,000 tundra swans, 10,000 Canada geese, and a wide variety of ducks have stopped at Middle Creek while pushing north to their breeding grounds.
