The Trains at Old Threshers, 2015 - Mount Pleasant, IA
Take a trip to Mount Pleasant, Iowa in summer of 2015 for three days of fun at the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion. On the Midwest Central Railroad, see narrow-gauge steam trains as they haul passengers around the grounds, pulled by 2-6-0 locomotive #6 and 2-6-2 #12. Both engines are seen running passenger trains and a new mixed consist including freight cars. Then we'll experience trolley car action on the Midwest Electric Railway, running historic trolleys and streetcars through the Old Threshers campgrounds. You'll enjoy a few rides on the line plus many trolley run-bys from scenic spots along the tracks. Join us as we explore all the railroad action during another great year at Old Threshers.

Midwest Old Threshers Reunion Carousel
The Norman and Evans steam-driven track carousel, dubbed the Smile Machine, is a Midwest Old Threshers Reunion staple, and a longtime favorite at the event. It is powered by a Herschell- Spillman steam engine that dates back more than a century, and is one of the few of its kind left in the United States.

Catch all the railroad activity at the 2014 Midwest Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. We’ll visit the Midwest Central Railroad, running narrow-gauge steam trains, and the Midwest Electric Railway, operating trolleys circling the campgrounds. In this video, during four of the Reunion’s five days, we’ll take an in-depth look as the trains and trolleys pass several different spots around the grounds, and take multiple rides on each line. Although I've filmed at Old Threshers since 2005, this is my first full-length feature to be presented on YouTube. The Trains at Old Threshers, 2016 - Mount Pleasant, IA
At the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, two railroad attractions bring in train lovers from across the country during this 5-day event surrounding Labor Day. In this video we visited the 2016 Reunion on four different days to see the Midwest Central Railroad and Midwest Electric Railway. The narrow-gauge Midwest Central runs two old steam locomotives - Surry, Sussex and Southampton 2-6-0 #6, and Georgetown Loop 2-6-2 #12 - plus diesel switcher #14 - as they pull colorful consists of freight and passenger equipment along the 1 1/4 mile line, carrying visitors across the grounds at Old Threshers. The Midwest Electric Railway has its own colorful collection of vintage streetcars from around the world, and we ride several and see them pass at many spots on their line, circling the Old Threshers campgrounds.
In addition to the trains & trolleys, breaks throughout the video highlight other Reunion attractions, including steam-powered traction engines, the historic carousel, and stationary engines of the Steam Powerhouse. We also get to see a pair of train robbery re-enactments that take place in Old Threshers' wild-west themed North Village.

Each year, fans of the great outdoors get all steamed up in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Old steam engine tractors gather in greater numbers than anywhere else in the world. In this segment of Villwocking Across Iowa, Channel Five Eyewitness News reporter Jay Villwock tells us, for many, Old Thresher's Day is an affair to remember.

Mount Pleasant Iowa Storm Damage
This is a short video of the storm damage from a the Tuesday night storm of 28-AUG-2018. From my personal analysis of the damage path it was a a small tornado that didn't touchdown. And there is more than one place in town that it didn't touchdown. The National Weather Service wouldn't have picked it up on radar, and it wouldn't be the first time they didn't pick it up on radar, either.
