One of the Best Arcades in Japan - Game Center Mikado
We take you inside Game Center Mikado, a treasure trove of retro arcade games and a thriving part of Tokyo's fighting game scene.
Located in Takadanobaba - a suburb near Shinjuku and the birthplace of Astro Boy - this Japanese game arcade has dozens of classics from Capcom, Namco, SEGA and more, spanning every genre, from shoot 'em ups (shmups!) and beat 'em ups through to racing and fighting games - 2D and 3D. It's an incredible place!

「GoPro Testing」Mikado- The Most Famous Arcade in Japan
Mikado Arcade is one the oldest and most well known arcades in Japan. Known as The Mecca of Arcades, every hardcore gamer has made the trip out here at least once to play with the best. I wanted to show off the arcade, but unfortunately my video skills can't do it justice haha. I'm slowly learning though; I'll re-make this video once I get more practice!

This is a video of me visiting the retro dedicated arcade in Takadanobaba, Mikado Game Center. It's almost a museum of classic arcade games from the 80s and 90s, and is important in preserving game history.
The person working there was kind enough to allow me to take some video but I didn't want to intrude too much so the video is a little rushed. Still, you can see just how many classic game cabinets (and particularly shooters) they have. Also, I had no idea at the time that Skycurser was a recently developed game meant to emulate 90s era shooters, probably a western project. I think I actually had the most fun playing Metal Hawk, which emulates being in the cockpit of a jet by having a seat that moves in all directions. I had always thought it was just a 2D shooter.
Please like and subscribe! There's a lot more Japan-exclusive gaming action in the works. Also follow me on other social media platforms to see ridiculously rare games and goodies from Japan.

Japanese Retro Game Centers | Tokyo Arcade Experience ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Japanese game centers are must visit places on any trip to Japan, but in Tokyo, there is a place where you can time warp back to the 1980s and 1990s and play those games of the past, too. Since Japan was the leader in arcade game programming and machine production, the culture stretches back decades and those old machines are still in use!
Why do these retro arcade games and game centers still exist in Japan?
In the USA, the arcade culture rapidly declined when the game consoles gained wide popularity, especially in the early 1990s, but in Japan, arcades or game center culture continued because it was more about the experience than the games itself. It was a place to go, hang out with friends, be a hero!
There were many kinds of games from classic arcades to driving simulation games to dancing and rhythm games.
Gamers from the 1980s are not in their 30s, 40s or 50s and they keep coming, playing those games from the past and thats great because it means we can all stop in and experience arcades games like we did as kids.
