LONDON WALK | Crossing Millennium Bridge to St Paul’s Cathedral | England
A first-person perspective London walk tour from the Millennium Bridge to St Paul's Cathedral.
Experience all of the sights and sounds as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of London, featuring Millennium Bridge to St Paul’s Cathedral. The route begins on the south end of the Millennium Bridge by Tate Modern, crossing over the River Thames and up Peter’s Hill, ending in front of St Paul’s Cathedral.
Sights seen along the tour include street performers, an artist selling paintings, a caramelised almonds & peanuts seller, a photoshoot, an invisible man, and The National Firefighters Memorial.
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!
Footage recorded March 2017.

Travel England - Gateshead Millennium Bridge in London
Take a tour of Gateshead Millenium Bridge in United Kingdom -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
Hi I am Naomi and I am very excited to show you the world's greatest attractions.
Often called the blinking, or winking eye bridge, The Gateshead Millenium Bridge is an ingenious structure.
In some ways it resembles a giant harp suspended over the River Thames, pedestrians and cyclists use this curved and sloped bridge to cross from bank to bank, but what really makes this bridge interesting is what happens when boat traffic needs to pass.
The entire bridge tilts back forty degrees to let boats through on the Thame.
It is the appearance that this movement has from the river that gives the Millenium bridge its nickname.
Thank you for watching our travel video series see you next time.
???????? Millennium Bridge in London [4k]
Walking across Millenium Bridge from Tate Modern to Peters Hill and back with a beautiful view to St. Paul's Cathedral and The Thames.
London | Millenium Bridge
Just a few steps from St. Paul’s Cathedral is a much newer addition to the city, the pedestrian only Millennium Bridge! This steel suspension bridge officially opened to the public in 2000, but wasn’t completely functional until 2002. The bridge connects the north and south bank of the Thames, with St. Paul’s Cathedral to the north, and the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe to the south. There are over thirty bridges in London crossing over the Thames, but the Millennium bridge is the only one specifically built for pedestrians in over a century. The bridge offers some spectacular views of the city, and is extremely handy when trying to get from one attraction to the next!

The Millennium Bridge, officially known as the London Millennium Footbridge, is a steel suspension bridge for pedestrians crossing the River Thames in London, linking Bankside with the City of London. It is located between Southwark Bridge and Blackfriars Railway Bridge.
Tate Modern is a modern art gallery located in London. It is Britain's national gallery of international modern art and forms part of the Tate group (together with Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, Tate St Ives and Tate Online).[2] It is based in the former Bankside Power Station, in the Bankside area of the London Borough of Southwark. Tate holds the national collection of British art from 1900 to the present day and international modern and contemporary art.Tate Modern is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary art in the world. As with the UK's other national galleries and museums, there is no admission charge for access to the collection displays, which take up the majority of the gallery space, while tickets must be purchased for the major temporary exhibitions. The gallery is a highly visited museum, pulling in approximately 5.8 million visitors in 2018.
St Paul's Cathedral, London, is an Anglican cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London and the mother church of the Diocese of London. It sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London and is a Grade I listed building. Its dedication to Paul the Apostle dates back to the original church on this site, founded in AD 604. The present cathedral, dating from the late 17th century, was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren. Its construction, completed in Wren's lifetime, was part of a major rebuilding programme in the City after the Great Fire of London. The cathedral building largely destroyed in the Great Fire, now often referred to as Old St Paul's Cathedral, was a central focus for medieval and early modern London, including Paul's walk and St. Paul's Churchyard being the site of St. Paul's Cross.

The Wibbly Wobbly Millennium Bridge in London
The Wibbly Wobbly Millennium Bridge in London - This was filmed just after the bridge was opened to the public. As you can see it's a tad on the wobbly side.
Such was the interest in the new bridge that when it opened to the public on 10 June 2000, an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 people crossed it.
And then the problems began.
Although the Millennium Bridge, like all bridges, was designed to cope with a degree of movement it soon became clear that things were going seriously awry as the deck swayed about like a drunken sailor.
So the bridge was instantly renamed as 'The Wobbly Bridge', and after two days of random swaying, swinging and oscillating wildly, the bridge was closed down by embarrassed engineers.
Naturally, the press had a field day (in Britain we love failure!), questions were asked in Parliament and the pubic began to sense that perhaps another large white elephant had just landed on the shoreline of the Thames (the fiasco of the Dome was only a few miles downstream).
Things didn't get much clearer when the engineers decided that the problem was apparently due to people walking the wrong way! claiming that the infamous wobble (or 'synchronous lateral excitation', as they put it) was due to the 'chance correlation of footsteps when we walk in a crowd'.
This - apparently - 'generated slight sideways movements of the bridge which made it more comfortable for people to walk in synchronization with the bridge movement'. In other words, once it started to sway people tried to counteract it, en masse, making the problem worse.
After a prolonged series of tests, it was decided to adopt a passive damping system which would harness the movements of the structure to absorb energy.
Two forms of passive damping were deployed: Viscous dampers and Tuned Mass Dampers.
Viscous dampers are located under the deck, around the piers and the south landing to control the lateral motions and act much like shock absorbers.
The tuned mass dampers are also located beneath the deck and reduce vertical movements. Acting like weights on strings, these inertial devices are tuned to a specific frequency and attached to discrete points on the structure.
While work continued on the bridge, visitors were treated to the occasional sight of hundreds of paid volunteers walking over the bridge in army-type formations as the engineers battled to correct the swaying.
After nearly two years of testing, the alterations have deemed a success and the bridge finally reopened to the public in February 2002 - and the swaying was banished forever!
This footage was filmed in June 2000

OneMinute - Millennium Bridge London
It's 325 meters long, 4 meters wide and probably one of the best known bridges in London. I'm talking about the Millennium Bridge, designed by famous British architect Norman Foster.
During my visit to London, about a month ago, I just had to walk over this famous bridge. The bridge alignment is such that a clear view of St. Pauls Cathedral is presented from across the river, framed by the bridge supports.
Please enjoy the Millennium Bridge in just one minute!

The Millennium Bridge or Millennium Foot Bridge, London England, A Must For Britain Travel
The Millennium Bridge or Millennium Foot Bridge, London England. The Millennium Bridge over the River Thames in London England has got to be the coolest looking pedestrian bridge I've seen. The London Millennium Footbridge, as it is officially know, was opened in June 2000 Linking the Bankside and the City areas of London England. The Millennium Bridge is positioned on the Thames between the Southwark Bridge and the Blackfriars Railway Bridge in London England. The Millennium Bridge links a few must see locations in London England, including St Paul's Cathedral, The Globe Theatre and The Tate Modern. I think The Millennium Foot Bridge will become a London England icon given enough time and enough photographs. The London Millennium Foot Bridge is a great example of how the modern and the ancient work together in London England. I crossed the Millennium Bridge twice. I first crossed the Millennium Bridge an my way to the Tate Modern Museum. I crossed the Millennium Foot Bridge a second time to get back to the St Paul's Cathedral.

Millenium Bridge, London
The Millennium Bridge is a 330m steel bridge linking the City of London at St. Paul's Cathedral with the Tate Modern Gallery at Bankside.
In 1996, the Financial Times held an international competition in conjunction with the London Borough of Southwark and the Royal Institute of British Architects to design a new footbridge crossing the Thames between Southwark and Blackfriars bridges.
It would be the first pedestrian river crossing over the Thames in central London for more than a century, opening in time for the first year of the new Millennium.

The Millennium Bridge, officially known as the London Millennium Footbridge, is a steel suspension bridge for pedestrians crossing the River Thames in London, linking Bankside with the City of London. It is located between Southwark Bridge and Blackfriars Railway Bridge. The Millennium Bridge is owned and maintained by Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust overseen by the City of London Corporation. Construction of the bridge began in 1998, with the opening in June 2000.
Londoners nicknamed the bridge the Wobbly Bridge after participants in a charity walk on behalf of Save the Children to open the bridge felt an unexpected and, for some, uncomfortable swaying motion on the first two days after the bridge opened. The bridge was closed later that day, and after two days of limited access, the bridge was closed for almost two years while modifications were made to eliminate the wobble entirely. It reopened in 2002.
The southern end of the bridge is near the Globe theatre, the Bankside Gallery, and Tate Modern, the north end next to the City of London School below St Paul's Cathedral. The bridge alignment is such that a clear view of St Paul's south façade is presented from across the river, framed by the bridge supports.
