Minneapolis Northwest comes alive in autumn
Fall is an awesome time to explore Minneapolis Northwest, on the outskirts of the Twin Cities. Summer’s heat is happily gone and the region comes alive with fall colors and outdoor activities.
Elm Creek Park reserve—at 4,900 acres—is the largest park in the area and has miles and miles of mixed use trails, a brilliantly designed playground area, and the best dog park according to USA Today. There are multiple championship golf courses in the area, and there’s still time to hit the links before the greens go to sleep for the winter.
The Twin Cities Harvest Festival, open through October, has festivities for every age and the largest corn maze in all of Minnesota—the thing is massive. Finally, take a moment to chill after a long day outdoors with a solar-powered brew and tasty cuisine.

MN Democrats Demand Urgent Action in Puerto Rico
Senator Melisa Franzen, DFL-Edina, leads a delegation of DFL lawmakers and Minnesotans of Puerto Rican descent in urging swift action to address the disaster of the Carribean island caused by Hurricane Maria.
Press release:
As Puerto Rico struggles to recover from the devastation left by Hurricane María, a coalition of leaders from Minnesota, Washington, D.C. and cities across the country are coordinating a massive effort to heighten awareness of the crisis engulfing Puerto Rico. The national coalition is united in its demand for a massive response from military and government relief agencies to prevent a humanitarian crisis on the island of 3.5 million United States citizens.
We have reports from across the island and the situation is critical,” said Minnesota State Senator Melisa Franzen, a native of Puerto Rico. “Desperately needed supplies are not reaching the most remote parts of the island. Communication and transportation is still impossible in the hardest hit areas.”
The destruction left by Hurricane María is unprecedented and calls for an unprecedented response. Electricity and clean water supplies may not be restored for many months. Hospitals and pharmacies are without power or closed. Many functioning medical facilities are at capacity and turning patients away. Those with access to transportation and generators are scrambling for scarce supplies of gasoline, diesel and propane. Ports have become bottlenecks where supplies that have reached the island are waiting for transport and distribution. Humanitarian aid is trapped by red tape. The flow of critical goods across the island is hampered by spotty communications and impassable roadways. The coalition is calling on the private sector with business interests on the island to join with government efforts and lend expertise and resources in this call to action.
On the eve of the President's arrival in Puerto Rico, we urge the administration to visit hospitals, nursing homes and the interior of the island, which is in desperate need of basic life-saving supplies like clean water and food. Fuel and medicine have become luxuries that people cannot afford to live without for much longer, said Minnesota State Representative Carlos Mariani, who has ties to the island. People have nowhere to go and time is running out for children, the sick, and the elderly, he added.
The coalition urges the media to tell the American people the real story about the desperate conditions in Puerto Rico. The coalition calls on Congress, the White House and the public at large to join this united effort to save lives today. “Nothing short of massive intervention by the military and government agencies will prevent a humanitarian crisis and the loss of more lives,” said Senator Franzen.
List of speakers:
State Sen. Melisa Franzen
· State Rep. Carlos Mariani
· Congressman Keith Ellison
· Congressman Tim Walz
· St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman
· State Sen. Matt Klein
· Dr. Miguel Fiol from Puerto Ricans in Minnesota

The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid (Full Movie, Western, English, Entire Film) *free full westerns*
Full Western Movie, Full Length Cowboy Film, English: The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid (original title), Runtime 1h 31min, Western, 9 August 1972 (West Germany).
The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid is a 1972 Technicolor Western film about the James-Younger Gang distributed by Universal Pictures. It was directed by Philip Kaufman in a cinéma vérité style and starred Cliff Robertson as Cole Younger, Robert Duvall as Jesse James, Luke Askew as Jim Younger, R. G. Armstrong as Clell Miller, John Pearce as Frank James, and Matt Clark as Bob Younger. The film purports to recreate the James-Younger Gang's most infamous escapade, the September 7, 1876, robbery of the biggest bank west of the Mississippi in Northfield, Minnesota.
The gangs of Jesse James and Cole Younger join forces for a bungled robbery of the bank in Northfield, Minnesota.
Director: Philip Kaufman

PLOT: In 1876, the Missouri legislature issues a pardon and amnesty to the James and Younger gangs despite many people considering them outlaws. The pardon is because they protected the homesteaders of Clay County against the marauding railroaders, who wouldn't let anyone or anything get in their way of building the railroad where they wanted. However, the railroad companies and banks still consider them outlaws and will take matters into their own hands if they come across the gangs. Prior to the pardon, Cole Younger had contemplated robbing the First National Bank in Northfield, Minnesota - what is considered the largest bank west of the Mississippi - but has now decided against it. Circumstances, including learning that Jesse James and his gang are going ahead with the robbery behind his back, and that the railroaders issuing a war against them which also includes bribing the legislature to revoke the pardon, make Cole change his mind. But right from the start - even during the planning... (Written by Huggo)
