MO Sports Hall of Fame inducts Brian Jordan
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame celebrated baseball and softball Wednesday afternoon at it's annual baseball luncheon.
And the hall also inducted four new members and two programs.
The Webb City softball program, and the Glendale baseball program were inducted.
Also joining the hall, national champion softball pitcher Cindy Henderson Snead.
Southwest Missouri State signed Cindy after a ten pitch tryout in her backyard.
The late Don Provance, Glendale's baseball coach for 29 seasons, was inducted.
As were two St. Louis Cardinals.
The late Joe Ducky Medwick from the Gas House Gang days.
And Brian Jordan who started his 14 year big league career in St. Louis.
Coming in as a rookie we were very young. And it took some time to build up, my first manager was Joe Torre. Just to be a part of the history of St. Louis, you knew you had to return to that winning tradition. We were fortunate enough in 1996 to make that happen again, said Jordan.
We were so used to winning. By that time it wasn't a big deal a national championship. We came back and there was maybe a handful of people there to meet us. But as the years go by you know what an accomplishment that was, said Snead.
The Glendale baseball program is just an manifestation of the Glendale community. Classroom, community and competition. They expect to do well. They don't show up thinking they're going to get beat. It's been that way since 1964. Almost six generations of kids and it started with Don (Provance), said former Glendale coach Mark Stratton.

1978 Mount Vernon Football Hall of Fame
I was so happy to be able to attend the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame ceremony in Springfield, MO on October 17, 2018 to represent my dad Coach Pat Wozniak and his 1978 State Championship winning team from Mount Vernon, MO. This video was played to introduce the coaches and players in attendance as they came to the stage to accept their HOF induction.
My dad would have been so proud for these men and I only wish he would have been able to be with us. I know he was grinning from ear to ear as he watched the proceedings from the ultimate sideline in heaven.
