Utah Highway 128 || Moab to I-70 || Colorado River Scenic Byway Colorado River Scenic Byway
State Route 128 (SR-128) is a 44.564-mile-long (71.719 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Utah. The entire length of the highway has been designated the Upper Colorado River Scenic Byway, as part of the Utah Scenic Byways program. This road also forms part of the Dinosaur Diamond Prehistoric Highway, a National Scenic Byway. Residents of Moab frequently refer to SR-128 as the river road, after the Colorado River, which the highway follows.
The highway was originally constructed to connect rural cities in eastern Utah with Grand Junction, Colorado, the largest city in the region. Part of the highway was merged into the Utah state highway system in 1931; the rest was taken over by the state and assigned route number 128 in 1933. Today, the highway is used as a scenic drive for visitors to the area.
The highway crosses the Colorado River at the site of the Dewey Bridge, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This bridge was the longest suspension bridge in Utah until April 2008 when it was destroyed by a fire started by a child playing with matches.

first aired in 2001 with coverage of the beginning events in the Extreme Rock Crawling Championships. We still have lots of that classic footage that we will be putting up just to bring a tear to your eyes for the good old days.
tested many factory four wheel drive vehicles during our early days and you can see the tests we did all categorized on our website.
projected several amazing vehicles including Elsie, our beloved FJ60 that was my family cruiser and remains in the shop to this day - and until the day they plant me in the ground. We also restored and period projected a very nice FJ40 that ended up in the hands of a friend, Bottle-a-day Dave. Anyone ever run across Dave Yarington (a rabid cruiser enthusiast - okay 'nut') please have him contact me. We also projected a great old Cherokee named Scofield (named after my friend who bought it new and explored many backroads in it). That Cherokee also still remains in my family, now driven by my son-in-law and most likely soon to be my Grandson's daily driver. Proof that good machines never die.
also went on some incredible adventures, certainly our favorite thing to do. We traveled a lot of cool trails around southern California as well as the infamous (in the ATV world!) Piute Trail area and of course Moab. What we love most are the scenic trails! You can find them all listed on our website as well.
had a few trail tips (which I hope to do more of), abad product reviews on both items for your rig as well as to make your trail experience better.
Hope to see you out on the trail.
My 2010 Road Trip through North America in the Nissan Pathfinder HD 720p
This footage had been sitting on my HDD for two and a half years before I finally assembled it into something watchable. In May 2010, I took my beloved Nissan Pathfinder on a 13 500km solo road trip through the Rocky Mountains, south western states, west coast states and western Canadian provinces. I spent a week with my fellow Nissan 4x4 owners running trails in Moab, UT, then made my way west to Monterey Bay, north to Victoria BC and then back home to Ontario, stopping at any national/state/provincial park along the way. My favorite places were Canyonlands N.P., Zion N.P., the Redwood forests of Northern California, Gowlland Tod Provincial Park, The Lussier Hot Springs, Kevin's badass home made sauna, Yosemite N.P., Kootenay N.P. and Death Valley N.P. I enjoyed Utah and Colorado so much that I returned 2 years later to explore a little more (video coming soon), and I will be back again in 2014 to see the rest of Utah's national parks.
It was a great trip, learning experience and a lot of fun to meet some new friends from the internets as well as spend some time with some relatives. I wish I had taken a little more video of them, so remember to do that when you are in the same situation. Hard drive space is cheap! I hope this video encourages you to explore your country and enjoy the natural beauty it holds. I am fortunate to be able to do so and if you are also in my position, you should do the same.

Jeep is a brand of American automobile, which is a division of FCA us LLC (formerly Chrysler Group, LLC), a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler car. The former Chrysler Corporation acquired the Jeep brand, along with the remaining assets of its owner the American Motors in 1987. Current product range of jeep is composed exclusively of sport utility vehicles and vehicles off-road, but it has also included trucks in the past.
The original Jeep was the prototype Bantam BRC. Jeeps Willys MB entered production in 1941 specifically for the military, making them arguably the biggest off-road mass production now known as SUV. The Jeep became the main 4-wheeled vehicle light of the United States Army and the allies during the second world war, as well as the post-war period. The term became common around the world as a result of the war. Doug Stewart notes:
The Spartan jeep, overcrowding and lavished functional became the personification of four wheels of ubiquitous Mundial Guerra II of Yankee ingenuity and determination positive, presumed.
The first civilian models were produced in 1945. It inspired a series of other light utility vehicles such as the Land Rover. Many variants of Jeep serving similar military and civilian functions already have been designed in other Nations.
Jeep advertising has always emphasized the off-road capabilities of the vehicle. Today, the Wrangler is one of the few remaining four-wheel-drive vehicles with solid axles front and rear. These trees are known for their durability, resistance and articulation. New Vaqueros come with a rear Dana 44 differential and a Dana 30 front differential. Updated the JK Wrangler Rubicon model is equipped with locking differentials activated electronically, Dana 44 axles front and rear with 4.10 gears, suspension of anti-roll bar 4:1 transfer case electronic disconnect and heavy duty.
Another benefit of solid axle vehicles is tend to be easier and cheaper to lift with aftermarket suspension systems. This increases the distance between the axle and the chassis of the vehicle. By increasing this distance, you can install larger tires, which will increase the ground clearance, allowing you to traverse obstacles even higher and harder. In addition to higher altitudes, many homeowners seek to increase the articulation of the suspension or flex to give their Jeeps greatly improved off-road capabilities. Good joint suspension keeps four wheels in contact with the ground and traction.
Useful features of the smaller Jeeps are their short distances between axles, narrow frames and broad approach, ventral and exit angles, allowing that they fit into places where the four wheels of the same size have difficulty.
