Places to see in ( Tarragona - Spain ) Real Monasterio de Santa Maria de Poblet
The Royal Abbey of Santa Maria de Poblet is a Cistercian monastery, founded in 1151, located at the foot of the Prades Mountains, in the comarca of Conca de Barberà
Real Monasterio de Santa Maria de Poblet was founded by Cistercian monks from France on lands conquered from the Moors. The main architect was Arnau Bargués.
Real Monasterio de Santa Maria de Poblet was the first of three sister monasteries, known as the Cistercian triangle, that helped consolidate power in Catalonia in the 12th century. (The other two are Vallbona de les Monges and Santes Creus.)
Poblet was the royal pantheon of the kings of the Crown of Aragon since James I of Aragon. Some of the most important royal sepulchres have alabaster statues that lie over the tomb. The kings have lion sculptures at their feet, while the queens have dogs.
Peter IV of Aragon (1319 – 1387) made it a condition, under solemn oath at the moment of crowning, that all the Aragonese kings be buried there. Only Ferdinand II of Aragon broke the oath, after his kingdom had been merged with the Kingdom of Castile, and was buried in Granada.

List about some of the most beautiful monasteries in Spain
The monasteries in Spain constitute a rich historical, artistic and cultural heritage of this country. They bear witness to their own religious history and political-military history, both in the Middle Ages and in earlier times, with the arrival and settlement of the Visigoths. The monasteries played an important role in the repopulation carried out by the different Christian kings and counts after the advance of the Reconquest and the consequent setback of the Muslims towards the south of the peninsula. Its presence in the peninsula dates back to the first centuries of Christianity, when the early eremitic life gave rise to the formation of religious communities and the construction of small Spanish monasteries in the 6th and 7th centuries. During the repopulation, many of these buildings evolved, or were even raised from a new plant, towards a style that is traditionally called Mozarabic. The second phase was developed with the arrival of the Benedictines of Cluny, already at the time of the Reconquest and from that moment on they evolved or changed, according to the new orders: cisterns, military orders, Premonstratensians, Carthusians, Hieronymites, Augustinians, Camaldulenses and mendicants. In the seventeenth century there was an explosion of convents located either near or within the city. From present-day Catalonia to Galicia, monastic groups of different dimensions were appearing that would be transformed into more important and consistent buildings and others would be abandoned or destroyed. Most of the monasteries in Spain are distributed in the northern half in line with the historical course of the area in the Middle Ages. They are much less numerous in the south, Andalusia and the Canary Islands. The creation of monasteries during the Middle Ages was paramount from a social and cultural point of view as well as for repopulation. It was a great advance in agriculture and there were settlements around large buildings. They also benefited art and culture. Another important factor to take into account for the construction of monasteries in Spain was the Camino de Santiago, along which these religious institutions were arising whose main objective was the help to the pilgrim.

The Omells na Gaia is a town and municipality of 142 inhabitants of Urgell. Located in the Sierra del Tallat, on a hill 560 meters. Barony belonged to the monastery of Vallbona. Initially formed around the castle, now there are only some remains of walls. The streets were down, following drops in concentric manner.
Stresses in the whole parish church of Santa Maria (a pattern also as Saint Sebastian, lawyer against the plague, probably by some old people's vote). The parish is documented since 1154, when it restructured the archdiocese of Tarragona, which has always belonged. The current building (made by replacing the former Gothic) is the eighteenth century, with side chapels and a bell tower of square base and octagonal upper body.
Since the beginning of the seventeenth century had a special impact on local piety devotion to the Virgin of the Rosary, which was itself a brotherhood, so celebrated a festival high on May 22, feast of the Rosary May; the day is traditional to go in procession to the shrine of cut (the municipality of Vallbona). The summer festival celebrates the Virgin of August. Near the village there is an abundant source that channeled the beginning of the twentieth century, providing enough water to the population.
During the Spanish Civil War, the population in the Military Intelligence Service (S.I.M.) of the Republic was established the Campo de Trabajo nº 3. In the same hundred people there suffered captivity and many are found dead.
