The samurai castle of Himeji, Japan (Arkeo Channel)
- In this video we will show you the samurai castle of Himeji (Honshu Island, Japan), a UNESCO world heritage monument popularly called the “White Egret Castle”, due to the white colour of its walls. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries during the most turbulent times of the feudal age, it is the best preserved, the most beautiful and also the largest castle in Japan. It has 83 buildings covering an area of more than 100 hectares, surrounded by three defensive rings of moats, embankments and walls.

FoEhints: Himeji Castle, Great Building in Forge of Empires
Himeji Castle, Great Building in Forge of Empires
Himeji Castle, one of the great buildings of the Virtual Future, is beneficial for those players who fight every day, independent where they do it: on the province map, in the guild expedition, in gvg or against neighbors. But this great building will not make military units stronger. Instead it provides the player additional rewards comparable with the temple of relics, which does the same but for the guild expedition only.
While the Dynamic Tower, the Rainforest Project or the Seed Vault provide rewards for motivating an polishing other players every day, Himeji Castle has a similar effect for successful battles.
The castle has two boosts:
1st boost: Supply Production
On level 10 Himeji Castle produces 243,000 supplies every day. This could be a motivation for players in lower ages to get this building early with the help of their guild. For players in higher ages, especially the Virtual Future, this will not be a motivation as they usually don't have a problem with supplies.
2nd boost: Spoils of War
This second boost was introduced to Forge of Empires with this new building. It provides a chance to receive an additional reward for the first battles a player wins.
This starts very humble on level 1 with 4 possibilities and a chance of 7%. The means that in average every 4 days an extra reward is granted if the player wins every day at least 4 battles.
The reward is a random item from this list: forge points, goods, rogues or with the smallest chance diamonds or the choice between a rogue hideout or it's shrink kit.
On level 10 this already looks much better. Now the player has 5 possibilities with a chance of 25% each. This means that statistically seen a player receives that extra reward at least once per day for his successful battles.
Level 10 requires an investment of 5,900 forge points. The first 10 levels grant a total of 1,070 forge points sponsor bonuses which can be used to reduce the invested forge points a bit.
Beside the many other rewarded items, the Spoils of War will contain an average of 18.5 forge points.
25% x 10 + 12% x 50 + 5% x 200 = 18,5
On level 10 statistically seen these are 23.125 forge points / day.
5 x 25% * 18,5 = 23,125 fp/d
Long term it is absolutely impossible to use the effect exactly every 24 hours. Beside that influence the forge point investment pays back after 8.5 months.
5.900 FP / 23,125 FP/d = 255,14 d
All other rewards, which are mainly goods and rogues, you will receive on top and the investment will be reduced by sponsors. As a result the Himeji Castle is a profitable investment.
Himeji Castle is a Great Building of the Virtual Future. Players in that age usually are that much advanced that a great building should no longer be measured on level 10 only. When bringing the castle to higher levels, the two parameters of Spoils of War get better. On levels 16, 28, 41 and finally on 58 the number of possibilities per day is incremented up to finally 9. The chance to receive a reward from such a possibility grows from 25% at level 10 to more than 45% on level 58.
If we make the same payback calculation as before on level 10, we have to recognize that level 58 requires the very impressive investment of 118,615 forge points.
On the other side, sponsors will receive 48,385 forge points in return which can be used to attract other players investments. If you manage to always find sponsors for the first 3 ranks, your own investment will be reduced to 27,966 forge points.
As a result of your investment you will have 9 possibilities every day with a chance of 45.84% to get an average of 18.5 forge points.
9 cases/d x 45,84% x 18,5 fp/case= 76,3236 fp/d
27.966 / 76,3236 = 366,41 days
Even if you will be unable to use the bonus exactly every 24 hours, the investment will be payed back after approximately 1 year and all other rewards come on top:
366 x 9 x 45,84 x 6,9 = 10.419 of each good of the current age
366 x 9 x 45,84 x 1,2 = 1.812 unattached rogues
Bringing the castle to a higher level than 58 is not recommended as thn investment and return are not in a good relationship.
This great building will not increase the strength of military units. Therefore I highly recommend that all players first concentrate on bringing the Statue of Zeus, the Cathedral of Aachen and the Castel del Monte on level 10 before they think about constructing Himeji Castle. The benefits from successful fights in the guild expedition are much better than the rewards from the castle.
For players who already have a minimum of 90% bonus on attack and defense, Himeji castle can be a very profitable investment. This includes lower ages if they have the possibility to get the required blueprints and goods from their guild, assumed that the player fights every day.

Japan's BLACK CASTLE|Day 74 - Shimane
Matsue Castle (松江城, Matsuejō) is one of only a dozen original castles in Japan, meaning that its main tower has survived to this day through fires, earthquakes and the anti-feudal demolitions of the Meiji Period. It is sometimes called the black castle after its darkly-colored, austere exterior.
Matsue Castle was completed in 1611, a few years after the last decisive battle of feudal Japan. In 1638, the fief and castle were reassigned to a branch of the Matsudaira clan, relatives of the ruling Tokugawa. Perched atop a hill and surrounded by a moat and thick walls, the castle was built to withstand a war, though, thanks to the timing of its construction, it never actually saw a battle. Major renovation works were undertaken in the 1950s to further preserve it, and the interior of the main keep now houses a museum displaying period arms and artifacts.
Izumo Taisha (出雲大社) is located in the city of Izumo in Shimane Prefecture, a one hour train ride west of Matsue. It is one of Japan's most important shrines. There are no records of exactly when Izumo Taisha was built, but it is often considered the oldest shrine in Japan, being already in existence in the early 700s as revealed by the nation's oldest chronicles.
Izumo used to be ruled by a powerful clan in pre-historic times, and the region plays a central role in Japan's creation mythology. The main deity (kami) enshrined at Izumo Taisha is Okuninushi no Okami. According to the creation myths, Okuninushi was the creator of the land of Japan and the ruler of Izumo. He also became known as the deity of good relationships and marriage. Visitors consequently clap their hands four times instead of the usual two times during their prayers: twice for themselves and twice for their actual or desired partners.

Japans's SUPERNATURAL CAT Festival -- BakeNeko -- 化け猫フェスティバル
This is Japan's SUPERNATURAL CAT FESTIVAL aka BAKENEKO FESTIVAL!
Cats are very special in Japan. In addition to being considered good luck, Japanese folklore includes bakeneko (ghost cats). Supposedly these supernatural cats can shape-shift, speak human words, and protect or bewitch humans. I recently attended a Bakeneko Festival and wanted to share it with you!
Every October, the Bake-Neko Festival is celebrated in Kagurazaka, a neighborhood in Tokyo. Folks dress up as cats and parade down the street, accompanied by flutes and drums. In Japan this event is known as 化け猫フェスティバル.
Legendary First Emperor of Japan, Jinmu Statue and Yoshida Castle
Yoshida Castle is located along the Toyokawa river in Toyohashi City, Aichi, Japan. It was originally built in 1505. A reproduction stands where the main castle was along with the original stone walls where the quarry marks and some etchings are visible here and there in the complex. This video has a variety of views from the courtyard and from the stone walls. The statue of Jinmu Tenno, the legendary first emperor of Japan, is not far outside of the walls of the castle and adds to the pleasant stroll through this historic area.
SURREAL Places Of Japan
Japan already exists as a popular country for tourists to visit. Most of the main attractions we hear about include the big cities full of technological novelties and neon lights. And while all that is amazing, too, in this video, we’re talking about the places that in the land of the rising sun that look amazingly surreal.

6. Itsukushima Shrine
A most magical sight awaits anyone who comes across the Shinto Shrine’s floating gates along the the island of Itsukushima’s coast. The actual Itsukushima Shrine has been destroyed many times over the years, with a history that started in the 6th century. The shrine of the modern day was first designed and built in 1168. The gate on the bay is a favorite landmark, which only looks like it gloats on the water during high tide. You’ll have to wait until low tide to be able to walk to it without getting wet.
5. The Yonaguni Monument
The sear near the coast of Yonaguni already rose to prominence as a favorite diving spot well before the discovery of the Yonaguni Monument. The mysterious geometrical landmark was discovered by the director of the area’s tourism association as he was trying to find a nice place to just watch hammerhead sharks swim by. The discovery was made in 1987 and since then, the pyramid-like structure has baffled historians as to how it got there. A collection of stone structures have been found here, with no one knowing where they came from.
4. Aoiike
In one season, the Blue Pond or Aoiike in Hokkaido might look more blue in the next season. And it also depends on the wind. Sometimes, the pond may look like a flat mirror against the sky--while at other times, it may flow this iridescent blue. This man-made pond is located in Biei and was created so that the nearby town could be protected from harmful volcanic mudflow. It gets so blue sometimes that it almost doesn’t even look real. To explain why it gets so vibrant, speculation says that the blue comes from the colloidal aluminum hydroxide. Once, the pond even turned brown from a drop in the water, mixing it with more sand and mud.
3. The Hakkoda Mountains
More volcanoes. Just south of the city of Aomori sit the volcanic mountain range known as the Hakkoda Mountains that dates back to the Pleistocene era. The highest peak, Mount Odake, takes about four or so hours to climb. But one of the best things to see here can be experienced during the winters when the trees get submerged in snow, making strange standing shapes along the mountainside that look like figures rising from the mountains, bending and life-like. You can also find high altitude wetlands such as Tamo, Kenashi, and Suiren Lake.
2. Fushimi Inari Shrine
Within this head shrine dedicated to the god Inari is also associated with 32,000 other sub shrines scattered across the country. The Fushimi Inari Taisha, located in the Fushimi Ward in Kyoto, was built at the base of thea mountain. Its earliest structures date back to the 8th century, ThIn the mythology, foxes, or kitsune, are considered messengers, and a handful of fox sculptures can be seen all over Fushimi Inari. During the Japanese new year, millions of people arrive to worship at this shrine.

We checked out the Hiroshima Peach Memorial Park to witness sights like the withstanding dome building and the museum which paints a very depressing face on the after effects of the nuclear bomb. Also witness the death clock, a clock that will self destruct when the world ends apparently.
