'Donbas Friends' Radicals Derail Docudays UA in Greece: PR coordinator talks about incident
Ukrainian travelling festival See Ukraine: Docudays UA on Tour was planned to start in Greek capital, Athens on May 13. However, shortly before the opening, several radical groups threatened to organise protests against the event.
They rallied outside the Exile Room building, where film Euromaidan. Rough cut was shown. The radicals accused the managers of the building of supporting Ukrainian Nazis.
Because of that, the organisers of the festival were forced to look for a new location. They asked Ukraine's embassy in Greece to temporarily host the event.
These radicals called themselves anti-fascists and friends of Donbas. But they were basically just repeating lies, told by the Russian media. They accused us of falsifying facts about the conflicts in Donbas and Crimea. But we don't even have a movie about these topics, Olha Birzul, PR coordinator of the project, tells in an interview with Ukraine Today.
Birzul explains, pro-Russian forces want to create a myth that Greek residents are hostile towards Ukraine. But it's not true at all, Birzul adds.

20 years ago, Russian paratroopers made a 600-kilometer march from Bosnia to Pristina, taking the Slatina airport shortly before NATO troops were deployed there. The operation came as a complete surprise to NATO and allowed Moscow to deploy its peacekeepers in the north of Kosovo. On June 12, the province celebrated two events. While the authorities of the breakaway republic were honoring Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright, Serbian enclaves were recalling how they met the Russian convoy.

SUMMARY
=======
Sevastopol (; Russian: Севасто́поль; Ukrainian: Севастополь; Crimean Tatar: Акъяр, Aqyar) is the largest city on the Crimean Peninsula and a major Black Sea port. The city is administered as a federal city of the Russian Federation following Crimea's annexation by Russia in 2014, though Ukraine and most of the UN member countries continue to regard Sevastopol as a city with special status within Ukraine.
Sevastopol has a population of 393,304 (2014 Census), concentrated mostly near the Sevastopol Bay and surrounding areas. The location and navigability of the city's harbours have made Sevastopol a strategically important port and naval base throughout history. The city has been a home to the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which is why it was considered as a separate city in Crimea of significant military importance and was therefore once a closed city.
Although relatively small at 864 square kilometres (334 sq mi), Sevastopol's unique naval and maritime features provide the basis for a robust economy. The city enjoys mild winters and moderate warm summers; characteristics that help make it a popular seaside resort and tourist destination, mainly for visitors from the former Soviet republics. The city is also an important centre for marine biology; in particular, dolphins have been studied and trained in the city since the end of World War II.
Ukraine's revolution of dignity: 5 years later, Taras Kuzio (Революція гідності)
Full remarks by Dr. Taras Kuzio on the fifth year anniversary of the 2014 Ukrainian revolution, aka Euromaidan Revolution or Revolution of Dignity (Революція гідності), Kyiv, Ukraine, 19 November 2018.
- Revolution of dignity occurred five years ago beginning on 21 November 2013 culminating in the revolution on 18-23 February 2014. Review of positive and negative points
- 1:06 Ukrainian Diaspora discussion forums seem to ignore election of Donald Trump and Brexit referendum: Polls should be ignored with regard to the next Ukrainian presidential elections
- 2:01 Positive: Compare post-Euromaidan vs post-Orange revolution. Yuschenko era was depressing to watch. Ukrainians were disillusioned compared to Euromaidan. Domestic progress made in economic reforms, financial reforms, social reforms, energy sector reforms
- 5:04 Ukraine created large number of institutions to fight corruption. Some difficulty getting traction, but they won't be dismantled, and will produce results
- 5:37 Wired Magazine article on transparent government contracts and procurement process. Wired described Ukraine's new online government contract bidding process as one of the best in the world:
- 6:06 Closing of loopholes in Ukraine, saving up to $6 billion per year. Banking system in Ukraine is approximately 50% smaller prior to 2014 - many banks were simply laundering institutions, e.g. Ihor Kolomoyskyi's PrivatBank (ПриватБанк) laundered $5.5 billion over ten years, was closed in 2016. Kolomoyskyi is angry at Poroshenko over this loss and is why Kolomoyskyi is supporting Yulia Tymoshenko's presidential campaign
- 7:11 Value added tax (VAT) refunds. Naftogaz of Ukraine (Нафтогаз України) previously consumed 3-5% of Ukraine's government budget. Today it is the largest contributor to the budget, no longer a cash-cow for corrupt presidents
- 7:45 Jailing elites has been problematic. Whoever is elected in 2019 must produce results with Ukraine's anti-corruption court, i.e. putting people in jail
- 8:58 Household utility prices in Ukraine
- 9:24 Yulia Tymoshenko claims she is pro-EU and pro-NATO. Tymoshenko is lying when she says she is anti-IMF and pro-EU
- 10:24 Nation building in Ukraine has been successful. New draft law in front of parliament promotes Ukrainian language even further
- 12:35 Decentralization has been successful. More money is being kept locally
- 13:25 Spiritual independence: The granting of autocephaly to Ukraine is one of President Poroshenko's greatest achievements
- 14:28 Putin wants Russian World (Русский мир) as a new substitute for the USSR. New monument to Volodymyr the Great in Moscow is ludicrous since Moscow (and Russia) didn't exist in 988 when Kyiv-Rus was Christianized
- 15:20 Ukraine has achieved its spiritual independence from Russia. As of November 2018, Constantinople made their decision, there is no Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. Tomos of autocephaly to be granted prior to Ukrainian presidential election, 2019 (Вибори Президента України 2019)
- 16:21 We can already see cracks in the Russian Orthodox Church
- 16:30 One of the biggest myths in Ukraine is that East Ukraine is Orthodox and West Ukraine is Catholic. Most Orthodox parishes are in central and Western Ukraine. Few churches on Donbas
- 17:40 Who will head the new Ukrainian Orthodox Church? Not everyone wants Patriarch Filaret (Denysenko)
- 18:18 Russia's military aggression against Ukraine had the biggest impact on Russian speakers and ethnic Russians who sided with Ukraine against Putin
- 18:48 Collapse of Russian soft-power in Ukraine, e.g. elites and mutual corruption, energy sector (Компромат), lost leverage in Russian TV, Russian books, Russian social media. Loss of Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. Putin must be very frustrated, angry.
- 20:58 Gerrymandering Ukraine? Electoral Consequences of Occupation by Paul D’Anieri:
- 22:55 Ukraine's national security is good. Ukraine today has the best army in its history
- 24:10 Sanctions by USA, Canada, and Europe continue to be increased. Sanctions will remain in place until Russia returns Crimea to Ukraine
- 24:35 Russia chemical poisoning of Sergei Skripal (Сергей Скрипаль)
- 25:54 US-Ukraine strategic partnership is alive and well: When Trump was elected Moscow celebrated and Kyiv worried. Today this has inverted completely. Trump sent military equipment to Ukraine. Obama betrayed Ukraine in 2014
- 27:00 Power and influence of oligarchs in Ukraine has declined: Ihor Kolomoyskyi (Ігор Коломойський) in exile in Switzerland, Rinat Akhmetov (Рінат Ахметов) lost assets due to war in Donbas, gas lobby weakened
- 28:44 Huge number of Ukrainians themselves are involved in corruption
- 29:18 Moneyland: Why Thieves And Crooks Now Rule The World And How To Take It Back by Oliver Bullough

SUMMARY
=======
Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (Russian: Еле́на Петро́вна Блава́тская, Yelena Petrovna Blavatskaya; 12 August [O.S. 31 July] 1831 – 8 May 1891) was a Russian occultist, philosopher, and author who co-founded the Theosophical Society in 1875. She gained an international following as the leading theoretician of Theosophy, the esoteric religion that the society promoted.
Born into an aristocratic Russian-German family in Yekaterinoslav, then in the Russian Empire (now Ukraine), Blavatsky traveled widely around the empire as a child. Largely self-educated, she developed an interest in Western esotericism during her teenage years. According to her later claims, in 1849 she embarked on a series of world travels, visiting Europe, the Americas, and India. She also claimed that during this period she encountered a group of spiritual adepts, the Masters of the Ancient Wisdom, who sent her to Shigatse, Tibet, where they trained her to develop a deeper understanding of the synthesis of religion, philosophy and science. Both contemporary critics and later biographers have argued that some or all of these foreign visits were fictitious, and that she spent this period in Europe. By the early 1870s, Blavatsky was involved in the Spiritualist movement; although defending the genuine existence of Spiritualist phenomena, she argued against the mainstream Spiritualist idea that the entities contacted were the spirits of the dead. Relocating to the United States in 1873, she befriended Henry Steel Olcott and rose to public attention as a spirit medium, attention that included public accusations of fraudulence.
In New York City, Blavatsky co-founded the Theosophical Society with Olcott and William Quan Judge in 1875. In 1877 she published Isis Unveiled, a book outlining her Theosophical world-view. Associating it closely with the esoteric doctrines of Hermeticism and Neoplatonism, Blavatsky described Theosophy as the synthesis of science, religion and philosophy, proclaiming that it was reviving an Ancient Wisdom which underlay all the world's religions. In 1880 she and Olcott moved to India, where the Society was allied to the Arya Samaj, a Hindu reform movement. That same year, while in Ceylon she and Olcott became the first people from the United States to formally convert to Buddhism. Although opposed by the British administration, Theosophy spread rapidly in India but experienced internal problems after Blavatsky was accused of producing fraudulent paranormal phenomena. Amid ailing health, in 1885 she returned to Europe, there establishing the Blavatsky Lodge in London. Here she published The Secret Doctrine, a commentary on what she claimed were ancient Tibetan manuscripts, as well as two further books, T ...
