Tirana VR - THE MOSAIC OF TIRANA 360° VR VIDEO
The object known as the mosaic of Tirana is the only archaeological monument within the city of Tirana. It was accidentally discovered in 1972 during the construction work of a residential complex, whose buildings still surround the monument.
In addition to the mosaic floor, during the excavations experts unearthed alsowalls, brick fragments, tiles and pottery pieces which proves that the archaeological remnants belong to a Roman rural villa, or villarustica, built in the 1st Century AD. It is thought that during the 3rd Century AD the villawas transformed into a Paleo Christian church.
The motifs that dominate the mosaic are the geometric and the floral motifs, such as the triangles, the rosettes and stylized braids, while in what is considered to have been the main part of the church one can notice the symbol of the fish, the two strand braid and the cross.

Tirana, Albania
Tirana is the capital and largest city by area and population of the Republic of Albania. The city was awarded the title of the European Youth Capital of 2022.
Tirana is located in the center of Albania and is enclosed by mountains and hills with Mount Dajt elevating on the east and a slight valley on the northwest overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the distance. Due to its location within the Plain of Tirana and the close proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, the city is particularly influenced by a Mediterranean seasonal climate. It is among the wettest and sunniest cities in Europe, with 2,544 hours of sun per year.
Tirana flourished as a city in 1614 but the region that today corresponds to the city's territory has been continuously inhabited since the Iron Age. The city's territory was inhabited by several Illyrian tribes but had no importance within Illyria. Indeed, it was annexed by Rome and became an integral part of the Roman Empire following the Illyrian Wars. The heritage of that period is still evident and represented by the Mosaics of Tirana. Later, in the 5th and 6th centuries, a Paleochristian basilica was built around this site.
After the Roman Empire split into East and West in the 4th century, its successor the Byzantine Empire took control over most of Albania, and built the Petrelë Castle in the reign of Justinian I. The city was fairly unimportant until the 20th century, when the Congress of Lushnjë proclaimed it as Albania's capital, after the Albanian Declaration of Independence in 1912.
Tirana is the most important economic, financial, political and trade center in Albania due to its significant location in the center of the country and its modern air, maritime, rail and road transportation. It is the seat of power of the Government of Albania, with the official residences of the President and Prime Minister of Albania, and the Parliament of Albania.Thank you for watching my video.

Resurrection of Christ Greek Orthodox Cathedral – Tirana Albania ביקור בכנסייה היפה באלבניה
The Resurrection Cathedral (Katedralja Ngjallja e Krishtit) is an Albanian Orthodox church situated in the center of Tirana, Albania. It is the third largest Orthodox church in Europe.[1]
It was officially opened on June 24, 2012, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the revival of the Albanian Orthodox Church and the election of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania.
The complex of the Cathedral includes the following buildings, the cathedral, the chapel of the Nativity, the bell tower, the residence of the Holy Synod, the cultural center, a library, two other chapels and a small museum. The cathedral's dome is 32.2 m high, with the bell tower reaching 46 metres[3]
The bell tower is composed of four Paschal candles which symbolize the four Evangelists who proclaimed the Resurrection. These join together around the central shaft of stairs. The winding staircase leads to two open floors with 16 bells. A four-sided clock sits above the bells. The two underground levels below the Cathedral church were used to fulfill the Church’s need for a Cultural and Conference Center. The Center has an amphitheater with a capacity for 500-850 people which may be used to host lectures, shows, and concerts. The auxiliary wings and backstage allow this hall to be used as a theater also.
On the eastern side of the amphitheater is a small museum, a lecture hall, a surrounding for banquets and an area for exhibitions and children’s activities.
To the right of the grand marble staircase which leads to the church cathedral there is ample space for a bookstore and a store with church items. Meanwhile, to the left of the stairs are two rooms where youth groups and faithful can gather after church services. To the north, in front of the Conference and Cultural Center there is a small outdoor amphitheater, for use during summer months.

Tirana VR - The castle of Tirana 360° VR VIDEO
The castle of Tirana is a field fortification with rectangular plan. The constructions preserved in some of the towers and surrounding walls indicate that the fortress could have been built in the early Byzantine period, IV-VI century, as part of the fortifications built in New Epirus by the Emperor Justinian.
The surrounding walls that can be seen today are new constructions built by Ahmet Pasha Bargjini in the last decade of the eighteenth century. Inside the castle there are several traditional houses in which used to live the then rulers of Tirana, such as the Bargjini family or the Toptani family, which from 1798 ruled the castle and the city of Tirana.
Today, in addition to the walls, visitors have the opportunity to watch the new castle trails discovered during the reconstruction of the Murad Toptani street.

Tirana, a city with never-ending movement and energy
Tirana, the heart and capital of Albania, like all other European metropolises has never-ending movement and energy. With its clubs, bars, cafes, and taverns, Tirana is worth discovering by both day and night. The hospitality shown towards tourists is something that will mark your journey not only in Tirana but also all over the country.
There are different thoughts regarding the origin of the name of the city. Some think that it relates to Tyrrenia (a name of Etruscan origins), while other believe that it relates to the word Theranda (harvest), or to the Tirkan (a castle at the foot of Mount Dajti).
Tirana Attractions
Your own journey might begin by visiting the museums and the key spots such as Sheshi Skënderbej, where you will be able to see the Mosque of Et’hem Bey (built between 1798 and 1812) and the 35 m high Kulla e Sahatit (the Watch Tower), built in 1822 with a San Marco style cupola. Next, you can visit the famous mosaic uncovered on the floor of an old Roman lodge. Its center configures the walls of the castle of the Roman emperor Justinian (A.D. 520). The monumental Tomb of Kapllan Pasha and the Ura e Tabakëve (a bridge constructed in the beginning of the 19th century, located on Bulevardi Zhan D’Ark) are also worth visiting. As a capital, Tirana has the country’s finest museums, theatres, and galleries representing the national arts.
A visit to the National History Museum, the Archeological Museum, the Natural Science Museum, the private Mezuraj Museum, and the National Gallery of the Arts will leave wonderful memories. You can also pass a pleasant evening in the National Theatre or the Opera and Ballet Theatre. For dining, Tirana offers both a rich traditional cuisine and a variety of foreign fares, from Italian to Chinese, or even Indian. There are also several clubs and restaurants on Mount Dajti to discover and enjoy. The mountain is reachable by cable car, which provides a fantastic view of the city. In the Tirana region you may also visit the castles of Petrela and Preza, as well as some natural attractions, such as Pëllumbas Cave, Shkalla e Tujanit, and more.
History of Tirana
Tirana is relatively new. Sulejman Pashë Bargjini, a local feudal lord constructed the first building in 1614. He built a mosque, a hamam, and a stove, which at the time were the main institutions of a newborn city, today in the place where the monument to The Unknown Soldier stands. In 1816, the Toptani family came to rule the city. The most important date in Tirana’s history is February 11th, 1920, when the Lushnja Congress declared Tirana the provisional capital of Albania; definitive status would be given in 1925. Following this act, the city has experienced constant growth, which continues today and has gained particular momentum since 1990.
Famous Italian architects made the center of Tirana their project during the early parts of the 20th century. The main boulevard in Tirana, Bulevardi Dëshmorët e Kombit, was built in 1930, while the central square, Skanderbeg Square, was built between 1928 and 1929. In 1968, on the 500th anniversary of his death, national hero Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg had a monument inaugurated in Skanderbeg Square. Twenty years afterward, in the square was added the monument of the dictator Enver Hoxha. Shortly after on the 20 February 1991 the students and the people removed the monument from the square. In Tirana, you can visit a network of museums and galleries such as the National History Museum, the Archeology Museum, the National Art Gallery, and many more, including numerous private galleries.
Nightlife in Tirana
Tirana is unquestionably the dynamic center of Albania thanks in part to its lively nightlife, comprised of theaters, restaurants and clubs. There are a variety of places to entertain you and most of them stay open all night. Bars and clubs can be found throughout town, particularly in the “Blok” area, playing all kinds of live music, including jazz, house, funk, Latin, etc. You can choose to go to the Murphy’s Irish pub or to an American-style bar playing hard rock music. Tirana is home to the Opera House, the National Theater and many other galleries and museums, which in recent years have hosted many artists and world-famous performers. Tirana also offers a wide range of cocktail bars, where you can enjoy some of the best cocktails while listening to music from the best DJs. Downtown, the Regency Casino invites people out to test their gambling luck.

“Është hera e parë që Maratona është e certifikuar zyrtarisht, ndërkombëtarisht. Kjo do të thotë që edhe do monitorohemi në këtë aspekt, megjithatë besoj që do jetë një festë e madhe për të gjithë Tiranën dhe ky grup ka në dorë cilësinë e kësaj feste dhe mbarëvajtjes së punëve. Follow this unsealed road turning left at the end at the brand new apartment building. This is Bardhok Biba St. Follow this 198 of my steps (i am 197cms tall, you do the math) along the road where you will see the sign for Freddy's Hostel on the corner. The entrance to number 75 is through the greenery, up 7 steps with the door on the left. And exhale.
