John Lee Pratt Park - Things to do in Fredericksburg, VA
Jay Parrish | REALTOR | Coldwell Banker Elite -- This is a tour of John Lee Pratt Park in Fredericksburg, VA with Jay Parrish who is a local REALTOR in Fredericksburg. Pratt Park is located just outside of downtown Fredericksburg in Southern Stafford County. It has a pretty cool outside concert venue, a really large picnic pavillion, there a couple horseshoe pits for your barbeque entertainment, there are tennis courts, basketball courts, a baseball fields, several soccer fields and there is also a kids playground,. If like a little adventure with your exercise, there are some great trails for walking or jogging through the woods and down the large ravine. My favorite thing at Pratt Park is the disc golf course that winds in and out of the woods, it is a lot of fun and really great exercise. Basically, Pratt Park has something for everyone to do, make sure to check it out this weekend and let me know what you think. You can find out more about me at and I'll see you guys next time!

The Heritage Trail is a 1.6 mile asphalt stretch that connects the two parts of the Canal Path making a 3.1 mile loop, just about right for a 5K race. The new portion of trail, which is 10 feet wide, begins near the intersection of Princess Anne and Ford streets at one end of the Rappahannock Canal.

Hiking an Off-The-Radar Trail in Eastern VA - 17 Miles On The DRHT!
The Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail (DRHT) is a 16.5-mile route between King George, VA (close to the powerplant at Sealston), and Gate 2 at Dahlgren Naval Surface Warfare Center. As it sounds, it follows the route of a rail line that used to supply the Navy base - but now it passes through some remote country, largely along wetlands in oak, beech, and gum forest.
There are several good road access points: the west end off Bloomsbury Rd sports an old RF&P caboose and boxcar, with picnic amenities; Comorn Rd has a parking area; Indiantown Rd has a nice parking area as well. And there is a lovely little picnic area just east of Indiantown Rd, around milepost 9. (Mile markers are placed every half-mile, counting up from west to east).
There are two minor hazard/detours - one around church grounds and a cemetery around MP 13, and another short pass through a gun range near MP 5. The DRHT is bordered by private property along its entire length - stay on the trail!
Access is by permit only: Visit for permit info, maps and other information.

Just a Little Buttermilk
Buttermilk Trail is a classic mountain biking feature within the James River Park System in Richmond, VA.
It is not for the faint of heart however. Just a little buttermilk can leave one with a foul impression...a run-in with a group of senior hikers cut this one short, and that was probably for the best.

Smallmouth Bass Fishing on the Rapidan River | What are they biting?
Beautiful Summer day out on the Rapidan River fishing for some smallmouth bass. I set out for smallmouth but ended up catching a variety of fish. Even landed a very unexpected fish. This video has a few good tips on fishing the Rapidan River and how to figure out the right lure to use...and more importantly the right color.
Enjoy the show and be sure to leave a comment.
