Mount Gede Pangrango National Park is a national park in West Java, Indonesia. The park is centered on two volcanoes—Mount Gede and Mount Pangrango—and is 150 km² in area. It evolved from already existing conservation areas, such as Cibodas Botanical Gardens, Cimungkat Nature Reserve, Situ gunung Recreational Park and Mount Gede Pangrango Nature Reserve, and has been the site of important biological and conservation research over the last century. In 1977 UNESCO declared it part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
Mount Gede (2,958 m) and Pangrango (3,019 m) are twin volcanoes. The two summits are connected by a high saddle known as Kandang Badak (2,400 m). The mountain slopes are very steep and are cut into rapidly flowing stream, which carve deep valleys and long ridges.
Visitors usually enter the park by one of the four gates of the park: the Cibodas, Gunung Putri, and Selabintana gates. All the gates lead to the peaks. The Situ Gunung gate gives entrance to a lake area set aside mainly for family-style recreation. Cibodas gate is the most popular entrance gate and is the site of the park's headquarters. From Jakarta, it is two hours drive, usually via Cibodas Botanical Gardens.

Trekking Mount Gede Pangrango Bogor Indonesia going to Cibereum Waterfall
This video was recorded on 10 Nov 2013, Trekking from Cibodas to Cibereum Waterfall. The waterfall starts appearing at 7.50. The walk takes approximately 2 hours covering 2.8 Km on stone track. There are actually 3 waterfalls in the area, which height are about the same. 2 are easily spotted while the other is a little bit hidden. Water is ice cold even at 12 mid day. Visitors are a lot, mostly younger generation.

Our two days one night journey trekking in Mount Gede Pangrango National Park and summited the peak of Mount Gede at 2958 m a.s.l. It was raining heavily on the way up as well as on the way down. Fortunately, the sky was clear when we were on the summit.

DAY 1: Cibodas to Kandang Badak Camp Area

DAY 2: Kandang Badak Camp Area to Summit and descent via Gunung Putri

Mount Gede or Gunung Gede (Big Mountain in Sundanese) is a stratovolcano in West Java, Indonesia. The volcano contains two peaks with Mount Gede as one peak and Mount Pangrango for the other one. Three major cities, Cianjur, Sukabumi and Bogor, are located in the volcano complex at the east, south and northwest, respectively, along with suburban growth. Seven craters are located in the complex: Baru, Gumuruh (2,927 m), Lanang (2,800 m), Kawah Leutik, Ratu (2,800 m), Sela (2,709 m) and Wadon (2,600 m). Historical volcanic activity has been recorded since the 16th century. With the amalgamation and growth of Greater Jakarta with those 3 cities, dense suburban growth has engulfed the fringes of the volcano, home to roughly 4 million people. Though not listed as one of the Decade Volcanoes or thought to produce large eruptions, the huge populations nearby give a potential for severe destruction if indeed a large eruption did occur.

Taman nasional ini memiliki fasilitas canopy trail yaitu sarana untuk berjalan dari tajuk pohon ke tajuk pohon yang lain , mengamati kehidupan burung dan satwa liar lainnya. Keindahan alam dengan kehidupan liar, gemuruh air terjun dan gemericik aliran sungai kecil yang jernih; kesemuanya merupakan fenomena alam yang dapat memberi pengalaman yang mungkin tidak akan terlupakan, terutama bagi wisatawan dari kota-kota besar. Beberapa lokasi/obyek yang menarik untuk dikunjungi:
1. Curug Cimantaja, Curug Piit, Curug Cipamulaan, Curug Cihanyawar, Curug Citangkolo. (menjelajahi hutan, pengamatan tumbuhan dan satwa).
2. Sungai Citarik (Arung jeram).
3. Cikaniki dan Citalahab (Berkemah, atraksi canopy trail dan pengamatan tumbuhan/satwa).
4. Candi Cibedug. Candi tua berukuran kecil dari zaman megalitik dapat dilihat 8 km dari Desa Citorek.
5. Gunung Halimun (± 1.929 m. dpl), Gunung Sanggabuana (± 1.919 m. dpl); Penjelajahan dan pendakian gunung).
6. Obyek wisata lainnya berada di pintu masuk utama Cipeuteuy berupa Perkebunan Teh Nirmala.
7. Atraksi budaya di sekitar taman nasional berupa upacara Seren Tahun pada bulan Juli. Upacara tersebut diselenggarakan di Kasepuhan Banten Kidul dengan pagelaran kesenian tradisional, mulai dari kesenian yang sudah langka seperti debus, musik angklung besar sampai kesenian khas Sunda lainnya.
Musim kunjungan terbaik: bulan Juni sampai dengan Agustus. Cara mencapai lokasi TN Gunung Halimun-Salak terletak tidak jauh dari beberapa kota yang relatif besar, yaitu Bogor, Sukabumi dan Lebak.
Rute perjalanan menuju kantor Pengelola yaitu ; Parungkuda - Kabandungan (kantor TN Gunung Halimun-Salak) berjarak 30 km dengan kondisi jalan cukup baik (jalan beraspal). Namun terdapat juga enam jalan masuk ke kawasan TN Gunung Halimun-Salak dengan kondisi jalan yang sangat bervariasi, yaitu ; dapat menggunakan kendaraan roda empat, roda dua sampai hanya dapat dilalui dengan berjalan kaki.

Mount Halimun Salak National Park is a 400km2 conservation area in the Indonesian province of West Java on the island of Java. Established in 1992, the park comprises two mountains, Mount Salak and Mount Halimun with a 11-kilometer forest corridor.
It is located near the better known Mount Gede Pangrango National Park, but the National Park should be accessed from Sukabumi, 2 hours drive to the administration post and then 2 hours drive (30 kilometers) again to Cikaniki post gate.
Geography:
Its mountain tops reach 1,929 meters and are often mist-shrouded, while its valleys are thought to hide much that remains to be discovered. Mount Salak is a critical water catchment area for its very high rainfall. The park is an amalgamation of two important ecosystems at Halimun and Mount Salak, which are connected by an 11-kilometer forest corridor.
Ecology :
The lower zones hold secure populations of the endangered West Java Gibbon (Hylobates moloch moloch) - a sub-species of the Silvery Gibbon. Mount Halimun is its most secure habitat, but its range is restricted to a thin ring around the park as the species is not found above 1,200 meters. Javan Lutung (Trachypithecus auratus), and other endemic species are evident; about half its 145 known bird species are rarely seen elsewhere in Java.
Chevron Pacific Indonesia which has 10,000 hectares geothermal concession, used 3 percent of its area for its power station facilities, has been involved in some conservation activities such as set camera traps
