Dolphins in Captivation On Tortola British Virgin Islands
In 2017 Dolphin Discovery Tortola had to shut down their operations due to hurricane Irma and had to ship the dolphins to another location. Now just a few days ago I read a Facebook post that the government is making arrangements to have the company resume operations in the territory. Watch the video to hear my opinion.

Nancy Woodfield Pascoe is the Deputy Director for Science, Research and Environmental Policy at the National Parks Trust of the Virgin Islands. Nancy is a BVIslander who grew up in the Territory and began working with the Trust in 1998. Her work covers a broad spectrum of activities, from collaborating with international partners such as RSPB and Kew Gardens on special projects in the Virgin Islands in order to conduct scientific research, to managing the Territorial Mooring Buoy Programme, providing recommendations to the Town and Country Planning Department on environmental issues and endangered species related to the land development process, mentoring students involved in environmental projects and managing the Geographic Information System (a digital mapping programme). Nancy is married with two young children and loves to share her knowledge and enthusiasm of protecting the Virgin Islands’ environment. US Virgin Islanders struggling with food and water rations
(14 Sep 2017) Residents on the US Virgin Islands of St Thomas and St John were depending on food rations on Wednesday as the recovery from Hurricane Irma continued.
Many were surviving on military rations handed out by U.S. Marines and the National Guard or at a local church that was serving meals to 500 people per day.
Governor Kenneth Mapp has denounced people who have complained about the islands' pace of recovery from Hurricane Irma.
Mapp said people were being unrealistic about the amount of time it would take to get full power and water restored.
He said he was frustrated with the ingratitude of people, an apparent reference to complaints on social media and the radio.
In the U.S Virgin Islands, damage was particularly widespread on St. John, an island of stunning natural beauty that is mostly national park surrounded by coral reefs.

Alfresco is a great base to start exploring the islands, overlooking Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay & the delightful Long Bay Beach. Smugglers Cove is just round the corner for a lagoon like snorkel or sundowner swim!

From Alfresco, you can see Sage Mountain & its lush hillside. Alfresco has well established gardens with lots of local tropical planting. There’s Allamanda as you come up the drive, lots of Bougainvillea throughout the gardens, a wonderful Jacaranda Tree, Aloe Vera, Hibiscus plants in several colours, Golden Cup, Wild Ginger, Frangipani, Oleander & an abundance of Native Palms.
Sage Mountain rises to 1,716 feet & sits majestically on Tortola in the National Park. From East to West this tropical rainforest has 7 trails within the 92-acre surrounding park. There are several rare & endangered plant species growing, you’ll be pleasantly entertained by the sounds of the birds chirping…...
