The site also features a museum with interactive exhibits.

South Dakota Family Trip | Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park
SOUTH DAKOTA FAMILY TRIP
In this vlog we went to:
Badlands National Park:
Mount Rushmore National Monument:
Crazy Horse Memorial:
Custer State Park:
My personal favorite was Crazy Horse Memorial because of all of the rich culture and the variety of what they had to offer - the monument, a historical area with hundreds and hundreds of artifacts, two restaurants, a gift shop, an art exhibit, a buffalo museum, a traditional performance from a man and woman of Native American decent in full regalia who also explained everything as they were performing. It will be amazing to follow the sculpture and see how it turns out in the next decades to come.
The badlands were also awesome, but unless you are a hardcore hiker or photographer, you really only need one day to visit the Badlands.
Custer was beautiful too, but they had so much to offer, and is definitely a place you camp at and explore, or stay at some of their cottages. It was incredibly beautiful.
If you do decide to go to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse in the same day, go to Mt Rushmore first or else you will be disappointed. Be sure to subscribe!

Drive from Rapid City to Mount Rushmore National Memorial
Visit to the world famous Mt Rushmore National Memorial, South Dakota, USA. Travel from Rapid City, SD to the memorial.
Mount Rushmore, South Dakota - Mount Rushmore National Memorial - Complete Tour (2019)
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is centered on a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills in Keystone, South Dakota. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum created the sculpture's design and oversaw the project's execution from 1927 to 1941 with the help of his son Lincoln Borglum. The sculpture features the 60-foot (18 m) heads of Presidents George Washington (1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919), and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865). The four presidents were chosen to represent the nation's birth, growth, development, and preservation, respectively. The memorial park covers 1,278.45 acres (2.00 sq mi; 5.17 km2) and is 5,725 feet (1,745 m) above sea level.
South Dakota historian Doane Robinson is credited with conceiving the idea of carving the likenesses of famous people into the Black Hills region of South Dakota in order to promote tourism in the region. His initial idea was to sculpt the Needles; however, Gutzon Borglum rejected the Needles because of the poor quality of the granite and strong opposition from Native American groups. They settled on Mount Rushmore, which also has the advantage of facing southeast for maximum sun exposure. Robinson wanted it to feature American West heroes such as Lewis and Clark, Red Cloud, and Buffalo Bill Cody,[9] but Borglum decided that the sculpture should have broader appeal and chose the four presidents.
US Senator from South Dakota Peter Norbeck sponsored the project and secured federal funding; construction began in 1927, and the presidents' faces were completed between 1934 and 1939. Gutzon Borglum died in March 1941, and his son Lincoln took over as leader of the construction project. Each president was originally to be depicted from head to waist, but lack of funding forced construction to end on October 31, 1941.
Sometimes referred to as the Shrine of Democracy, Mount Rushmore attracts more than two million visitors annually.
Rapid City, South Dakota - City of Presidents (2019)
Rapid City (Lakota: Mni Lúzahaŋ Otȟúŋwahe; Swift Water City) is the second most populous city in South Dakota and the county seat of Pennington County.[8] Named after Rapid Creek, on which the city is established, it is set against the eastern slope of the Black Hills mountain range. The population was 67,956 as of the 2010 Census.
Known as the Gateway to the Black Hills due to its location and the City of Presidents because of the life-size bronze president statues located downtown. Rapid City is split by a low mountain ridge that divides the western and eastern parts of the city. Ellsworth Air Force Base is located on the outskirts of the city. Camp Rapid, a part of the South Dakota Army National Guard, is located in the western part of the city. Rapid City is home to popular attractions like Art Alley, Dinosaur Park, the City of Presidents walking tour, Chapel in the Hills, Storybook Island, Main Street Square and more. The historic Old West town of Deadwood is nearby. In the neighboring Black Hills are the popular tourist attractions of Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, the museum at the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research, and to the east of the city is Badlands National Park.
RV TRIP TIP: Mt. Rushmore, Custer SP & the Black Hills of SD
While Mount Rushmore is the most well-known attraction in the Black Hills of South Dakota, there are lots of great things to see and do here. We just scratched the surface on this easy, one-day scenic drive.
Although Yellowstone National Park is probably the most famous place to see bison (buffalo), Custer State Park has one of the largest publicly-owned herds in the world, roaming freely throughout the park and often stopping traffic along the the road.
Connecting Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore National Memorial, the Iron Mountain Road is a work of art in itself. The highway passes through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Black Hills and includes three tunnels that frame Mount Rushmore in the distance. The road is famous for its Pigtail Bridges that allow travelers to gain or lose elevation quickly.
The Needles Highway is a spectacular drive through pine and spruce forests, meadows surrounded by birch and aspen and rugged granite mountains. Completed in 1922, the road's name comes from the needle-like granite formations you'll see along the way. It also has the longest, and coolest, tunnel!
Of course we visit Mount Rushmore National Memorial too, as no trip to the area would be complete without experiencing this amazing site up close. We hike the easy 6/10-mile Presidential Trail for stunning views almost directly beneath the granite faces.
This is only the beginning of the spectacular scenery in the Black Hills. For the more adventurous, be sure to visit Wind Cave National Park and Harney Peak if you have more time to spend in this beautiful part of the world.
We stayed in one of the many full-hook-up commercial RV parks in the area, but there are lots of State Park and National Forest campgrounds to choose from as well.
If you haven't yet visited the Black Hills, maybe this quick snapshot of the area will inspire you to add it to your must-see list. The admission price to the Custer State Park is well worth it!
