Masinagudi lies at a distance of 30 km from the famous hill station, Ooty. Majorly known for its biodiversity and wildlife spaces, Masinagudi is frequented by tourists all year round.The best season to visit Masinagudi is the winters and the onset of summers. The favourable months to visit the place are between October to May. The climate remains pleasant during these months.
Of 15 cat species in India, four live in Mudumalai: Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, jungle cat and leopard cat. There are 44 to 80 tigers in the Mudumalai forest. The single largest tiger population in India (Mudumalai – Nagarhole – Wynad) includes the Mudumalai tigers.
Masinagudi is a nature getaway located on Mysore-Ooty highway right next to Mudumalai Wildlife sanctuary.
Masinagudi is a hilly terrain Western Ghats, clothed in dense mixed and moist deciduous forests.

Wildlife around Masinagudi comprise wild elephant, gaur, deer and primates like the bonnet macaque and langurs all inhabit the Park.
Masinagudi town is today peppered with a large number of resorts. The town is right on the Kalhatty – Theppakadu road and towns like Bokkapuram, Singara and Vazaithottam are today home to a large number of resorts – thanks to the development of wildlife tourism.
The Moyar River running through the edges of the town is a good place to see animals when they come to drink water from the river. Moyar River Gorge, also called the Moyar Canyon, is a dramatic 20 km (12 mi) long gorge dug out by Moyar River, which plunges into the gorge below Theppakadu in a roaring water-fall popularly known as Moyar falls.
