Sonoran Snow
Most people do not think of snow when they think of Tucson or the Sonoran Desert. The Catalina Highway on the city’s north side takes your from the iconic saguaro stands of the desert to Summerhaven at the top of Mount Lemmon. With elevations above 9000 feet, the mountain gets an average 180 inches of snow a year. When the conditions are right Ski Valley, the southernmost skiing destination in the United States opens and people from all over Southern Arizona make the trip for a rare chance to enjoy the snow.

Between Two Lakes (Part 33) | Overlanding Series | Along For The Ride
One week remained before I had to be in Portland, Oregon, to meet my teenage son, Cole, at the airport, who was flying in from Pennsylvania to accompany me for some adventure. I was in Bend, only a few hours away from Portland, and had ample time to do some exploring in the region before his flight was scheduled to arrive.
My money situation was poor at the time, but I didn’t let this discourage me from pressing onward. I did my best to keep driving to a minimum and spent sensibly at the grocery store.

Visit Tucson | Whispering Palms RV Park Review
If you are thinking about traveling down to Tucson, Arizona for the Winter, be sure to check out Whispering Palms RV Park! I have had the most amazing time exploring the city and countryside.
If you are from the east coast, like I am, I HIGHLY recommend exploring this desert wonderland! It is unlike anything on the eastern side of the United States! The same advice goes to anyone from a tropical country!
With Saguaro National Park, the Saguaro cactus, downtown Tucson, and Mount Lemmon all within a few miles, this is a truly unique city. Whispering Palms is the perfect home base to explore the area!
