Maibara plain. Great views of Mt. Ibuki and the bullet train.
This a ride through the plains in Maibara. Maybe this is better described as a valley, but oh well. There are some great views of Mt. Ibuki here. Enojy the ride.

Traveling in Japan: Hiking Mt. Ryouzen
In the city of Maibara lies the (2nd highest?) peak in Shiga, Mt. Ryouzen, with and elevation of 1,098 meters and views and nature far surpassing that of the commercialized Mt. Ibuki in my opinion.
From Kashiwabara Station to Samegai Station took about 5 or 6 hours...but that's also considering I hitchhiked to cut off an hour walk at the end.

I climbed Mt. Ibuki in Shiga in May 2016 with a friend. We experienced incredible wind at the top and didn't really know what to do. It was a great trip, though!
