MUGHAL ROAD | POONCH TO SRINAGAR
Mughal Road (Urdu: مغل شارع) is the road between Bafliaz, a town in the Poonch district, to Shopian district in the Kashmir valley. The road is 84km long, and situated in the Jammu and Kashmir state of India.[1] It passes over Pir Panjal Mountain range, at altitude of 11,500 ft (3505 m), that is higher than Banihal pass (2832 m).[2]
The road brings the Poonch and Rajouri districts closer to Srinagar in Kashmir valley, and reduces the distance between Srinagar and Poonch from 588km to 126km.[3] It makes for alternate road route to Kashmir valley from rest of India, other than over-crowded Jammu-Srinagar Highway through Jawahar Tunnel (Banihal Tunnel) (National Highway 1A).[4] The road passes through Buffliaz, Behramgalla, Chandimarh,Poshana, Chattapani, Peer Ki Gali, Aliabad, Zaznar, Dubjan, Heerpora and Shopian.
The road was historically used by Moghul emperors to travel and conquer Kashmir during the sixteenth century.[5] It was the route used by Akbar the Great to conquer Kashmir in 1586, and his son Emperor Jahangir died while returning from Kashmir on this road near Rajouri.[6]

Beautiful Scenes Of Kashmir Just After Jawahar Tunnel - On the way from Srinagar To Jammu.
Jawahar Tunnel or Banihal Tunnel is a road tunnel in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Named after the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru, it was constructed for round-the-year surface transport by Alfred Kunz and C. Barsel (both were German) between 1954 and 1960. The Jawahar tunnel has been operational since 22 December 1956. The length of tunnel is 2.85 km (1.77 mi), its elevation is 2,194 m (7,198 ft) and it has one lane road in either direction. It is situated between Banihāl and Qazigund on NH 1A that has been renumbered NH 44.[1] The tunnel facilitates round-the-year road connectivity from Srinagar to Jammu.
Later the tunnel was renovated by the Border Roads Organization under the project BEACON in 1960. It was designed for 150 vehicles per day in each direction but the number of vehicles is now 7,000 in both directions. After renovations, the tunnel now has a two-way ventilation system, pollution & temperature sensors, lighting system and with emergency phones for any assistance from Border Roads Organization.
It is guarded by military round the clock, photography or videography inside or nearby the tunnel is strictly prohibited.[2] Once the vehicle enters the tunnel, it has to maintain the same speed throughout the tunnel. CCTVs are installed in the tunnel for continuous monitoring.
The tunnel used to be closed for civilian traffic between midnight and 8 a.m. until 2009. Now it is open all 24 hours of the day.
A new higher capacity, all-weather tunnel (Banihal Qazigund Road Tunnel) under construction (as of Jan 2017) is expected to reduce the traffic through the Jawahar tunnel when completed.

Jammu-Udhampur Highway Film
Jammu Udhampur highway is the national highway and the road in Jammu and Kashmir that connects municipal committee of Udhampur with Jammu City. The highway is 64 kilometres long passing through lofty mountain terrains. The highway also provides road link which connects Katra with rest of India. The highway is the small part of Srinagar Jammu National Highway.
The highway is in the process of major reconstruction. The task is being carried out by National Highway Authority of India funded by Government of Jammu and Kashmir. The whole highway is being rebuilt as four lane road with better bitumen pavement, new traffic sign boards, foot paths, tax toll offices, traffic signals, introduction of new tunnels with minimum number of road curves which would not only provide comfort to the passengers but would also reduce distance between Udhampur and Jammu to certain extent.

Srinagar to Gulmarg Kashmir By Road HD | By shared Sumo, Taxi and Bus | Kashmir Tour
Gulmarg is a hill station located in the state of Jammu & Kashmir in India.
The town is situated in the Pir Panjal Range in the western Himalayas at an altitude of 2,650 meters (8,690 ft).
The name Gulmarg, literally translating into “meadow of flowers” was awarded by Sultan Yusuf Shah Chak who frequented the place with his wife Habba Khatoon in the 16th century.
Gulmarg was also a favorite of Mughal Emperor Jahangir who is said to have collected as many as 21 wild flowers for his garden from here.
you can just drive to Srinagar city by either the regular Jammu – Srinagar highway; or the Mughal road through Shopian.
Once you arrive at Srinagar, you can then just continue driving towards Gulmarg via Tangmarg; which is a 2 to 3 hours drive covering a distance of about 60 kilometers.
Srinagar – Magam – Tangmarg – Gulmarg total 60 Kilometers.
From Srinagar to Tangmarg, it is mostly a straight drive on a flat road with little ascent.
You will not even feel like driving in a hill station actually.
It is after Tangmarg that the actual steep ascent starts and you climb up a winding road till Gulmarg.
Another god part is that the road is smooth and in good condition for the entire 60 kilometers of journey.
By Taxi - The best, easiest and most convenient way would be to rent a private taxi for the trip.
Depending on the type of cab you chose, taxi fare from Srinagar to Gulmarg would come out to be between Rs. 2000 to Rs. 2500 including fuel and driver.
You can either look for a taxi at the airport itself or book one in advance and have the drive pick you from the airport or railway station.
Srinagar to Gulmarg Shared Taxi
For budget travelers, I would still recommend a private taxi if you were traveling in a group and can share the cost among 5 to 6 people.
If you were however traveling solo then you can look for a shared cab as well; which in Kashmir is mostly a Sumo.
From Srinagar to Tangmarg, fare per person for shared cab wold be about Rs. 100 per person. From Tangmarg to Gulmarg then, it would cost another Rs. 50 to Rs. 70 per person.
Srinagar to Gulmarg by bus.
Traveling by Bus, you have two choices.
During summer season, there is a JKSRTC daily sightseeing Bus available in the morning from Tourist Reception Center.
My advice however would be to not rely on this service.
A better option would be the ordinary buses that the locals travel by. Problem however is that this bus is available only till Tangmarg.
There is no direct bus from Srinagar to all the way till Gulmarg; which is actually a bit surprising considering the kind of major tourist spot that Gulmarg is.
So what you will have to do then is to board a bus from Srinagar to Tangmarg. From Tangmarg, wait for a shared Sumo cab for Gulmarg which you will easily find.
Apart from the Sumo cabs, there are also mini private buses that ply between Tangmarg and Gulmarg.
Srinagar to Gulmarg bus fare in total would cost you about Rs. 200 per person; including the bus fare and shared cab charges from Tangmarg.
Srinagar Airport is the nearest airport to Gulmarg.

WAY TO KASHMIR : Jammu - Srinagar National Highway (Through India's Longest Tunnel Way)
Hai Guys please watch it in HD quality...
8 hours travel in 8 minutes.Hope you would enjoy it.
It was one my long awaited dreams to visit Kashmir...that too through roadways...via Jammu - Srinagar National Highway. This is the northernmost segment of NH 44 and it runs from Srinagar in the Kashmir Valley southward to the city of Jammu. It is one of the two road links (the other being the Mughal Road) that connects the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. The traffic on the highway is controlled by two control rooms, one in Srinagar and the
other in Jammu. In the mountains, the highway is often closed for days during winter due to heavy snowfall and the resulting landslides and avalanches.
Total Length of this NH : 295 KM
Maintained by : National Highways Authority of India
Major Cities on this NH: Jammu, Udhampur, Anantnag, Pulwama, Sirnagar.
One of the main attractions on this NH: Chenani-Nashri Tunnel or Patnitop Tunnel
Opened on: 2 April 2017 by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi
It is India's longest road tunnel with a length of 9.28 km (5.8 mi). It is the first tunnel in the India with a fully integrated tunnel control system.
Means of travel: Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Speed: 0 to 140
Video: Taken during my trip to Kashmir on my mobile....There are lots of shakes....so please do adjust....mostly due to the bad condition of the road.... in many places the construction and the maintance works are still going on...

Jammu to Srinagar road
National Highway 1 (NH 1), also known as Srinagar-Leh Highway, is a National Highway entirely within the state of Jammu & Kashmir in North India that connects Srinagar to Leh in Ladakh and is maintained by Project Vijayak of the Border Roads Organisation. It is one of the only two roads that connect Ladakh with the rest of India, the other being Leh-Manali Highway. The Srinagar-Leh Highway was declared as National Highway in 2006.[1][2]
Jammu-Srinagar National Highway closed for 5th consecutive day
he 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed for traffic for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday due to landslides triggered by heavy rains, leaving more than 600 Kashmir-bound passengers are stranded. Authorities have not allowed any fresh movement of traffic from Jammu to Srinagar or from the other side, SSP Traffic, National Highway, Sanjay Kotwal said. As a result of closure of the highway, more than 600 Kashmir-bound passengers are stranded at the Jammu bus stand for the past three days and are demanding that they be airlifted to Kashmir.
