President’s Bodyguard lift 115th MP Bhandara Murree Brewery Polo Cup.
RAWALPINDI: President’s Bodyguard (PBG) defeated CLS by seven goals to 3.5 goals in the final of the 115th MP Bhandara Memorial Murree Brewery Polo Cup here, As many as seven teams participated in the tournament.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, Chief Executive Murree Brewery Company Isphanyar Bhandara said sports help in developing the mental and physical abilities of youth.
The guests of honour that attended the event included Senator Sitara Ayaz and the ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Poland, Egypt, Sweden and Bulgaria. Senator Sitara Ayaz appreciated the efforts of the Murree Brewery team in promoting sports events.

The first shipment of Pakistani beer has hit Asian restaurants in the U-K, despite a prohibition law banning its export.
Muslims are forbidden from drinking alcohol in Pakistan - leaving only 3 per cent of the population free to indulge.
The country's oldest brewery is now trying to tap into the European market by brewing its Murree beer in Austria for export.
But Islamabad has plans to introduce the Sharia (Islamic) law on top of the strict anti- alcohol laws already in place - threatening the very existence of the beer.
Eat Curry with Murree, that's the new slogan for the Pakistani beer that's made its way into restaurants in London, in the U-K.
There is only a three per cent market for Murree beer in Pakistan as Islamic laws ban Muslim consumption of alcohol.
In the U-K, the beer will first be sold in restaurants which serve curries from the Indian subcontinent.
Curry has become the third most favourite food of UK after hamburgers and pizza.
But Murree is not without competition - Indian beers such as Kingfisher and Cobra are already popular.
A high profile publicity campaign for Murree beer will see posters plastered across the British capital.
More than 15 Murree Beer accounts with restaurants have already been opened.
And more than 100-thousand bottles have already been imported into the country.

Initially it's going to be, probably the European eating in the Asian restaurants, because this beer is well suited to the Asian type of cuisine. Obviously we will go for the Kashmiri, sorry Pakistani restaurants, but we can also go for the Indian or Bangladeshi restaurants as well with this.

Beer drinkers in this restaurant certainly seemed to give the beverage seal of approval.

I'm not a great beer drinker but I notice that when I try beers they have a particularly heavy taste in the mouth. But this hasn't and it is quite refreshing

Murree Brewery is 137 years old and based near Pakistan's capital Islamabad.
But a law introduced in 1979 forced the brewery to stop exporting beer to many markets, including the U-S.
Only non Muslims are allowed to consume alcohol in Pakistan due to strict Islamic laws - it is a punishable offence for any Muslim person caught drinking.
Only 3 per cent of the country's 130 (m) million are non Muslim.
But even this small market is being threatened by the introduction of government plans to introduce strict Islamic Sharia laws - in line with their holy book, the Koran.
The owner of Murree, Minoo Bhandara says he had no choice but to start exporting.
He approached a brewery in Austria which has now been given a licence to brew Murree Beer for exports to the U-K and other European countries.
Bhandara says his conscience is clear.

But religious leaders in Pakistan say the brewery should not be allowed to exist anywhere.

As the government is enforcing Sharia law (Islamic law) in the state, according to the Koran, beer is the root of all bad work, so the government should stop the production and export of beer

97 percent of Pakistanis can't drink legally....but the country does have ONE brewery and its thriving.
The Muree Brewery is the oldest continuing industrial enterprise in Pakistan.
It's allowed to sell beer to non-Muslims and recently got permission to export beer internationally.
