Guinea Bissau is a small African country, formerly a Portuguese colony. Our trip 2019 to Cacheu (Fort of Cacheu) and also to Bijagos. Guinea Bissau Is a pacific country, with friendly people and a nice weather.
We will post new videos as soon as we make a trip. We enjoy travelling with our family and friends. Our videos are about the travels we made, and we like to show the most beautiful footages seen to encourage people to visit those places. Only 14% of the population speaks noncreolized Portuguese, established as both the official and national language. Portuguese exists in creole continuum with Crioulo, a Portuguese creole spoken by half the population (44%) and an even larger number speaks it as second tongue, the remainder speak a variety of native African languages. There are diverse religions in Guinea-Bissau with no one religion having a majority. The CIA World Factbook (2018) states there are about 40% Muslims, 22% Christians, 15% Animists and 18% unspecified or other. The country's per-capita gross domestic product is one of the lowest in the world.
Guinea-Bissau is a member of the United Nations, African Union, Economic Community of West African States, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Community of Portuguese Language Countries, La Francophonie and the South Atlantic Peace and Cooperation Zone, and was a member of the now–defunct Latin Union.
The town of Cacheu is situated in territory of the Papel people. The name is of Bainuk origin: i.e. Caticheu, meaning 'the place where we rest'.
Cacheu was one of the earliest European colonial settlements in sub-saharan Africa, due to its strategic location on the Cacheu river. Cacheu developed a European/Afro-European population from the late fifteenth century through informal settlement of Cape Verdian and Portuguese traders, adventurers and outcasts (lancados). The authorities in mainland Portugal also sent to Cacheu degredados - people condemned to exile for a variety of offences.
Notable buildings in Cacheu include the Portuguese-built 16th century fort, dating from the period when Cacheu was a centre for the slave trade.

Exibição Cultural Quilombola na Guiné-Bissau | IMVF | O percurso dos Quilombos
Na sua visita à Guiné-Bissau os Quilombolas realizaram duas apresentações da sua exibição cultural. Uma em Cacheu, no Norte do país e outra na capital, cidade de Bissau.
Ansiosos por partilhar algumas das suas principais manifestações culturais, os Quilombolas aqueceram os seus tambores e subiram ao palco do Festival de Cacheu. Tendo como pano de fundo o Rio Cacheu, os 20 Quilombolas apresentaram o seu espetáculo para mais de 700 pessoas que rapidamente foram contagiadas pelo som dos tambores e pela dança. Foram vários os guineenses que se juntaram aos Quilombolas no final do espetáculo dançando ao som do Tambor de Crioula.
No dia seguinte, dia 24 de Novembro de 2010, em Bissau, os Quilombolas fizeram nova apresentação cultural no Centro Cultural Brasileiro onde foram recebidos pelo Embaixador do Brasil e pelo Ministro da Educação Nacional, Cultura, Ciência, Juventude e Desporto da Guiné-Bissau.

Em 6 de fevereiro de 1969, neste mesmo local e com uma jangada deste tipo, houve um trágico acidente: morreram, afogados, 46 militares e 1 civil, na sequência da retirada do quartel de Madina do Boé (Op Mabecos Bravios).

Descoberta sugere que rosto de Luzia era diferente do que se pensava
Estudo contradiz teoria de povoamento da América. Pesquisadores da USP e de Harvard extraíram DNA de ossos humanos enterrados por mais de dez mil anos.
Pesquisadores da Universidade de São Paulo e de Harvard divulgaram nesta quinta-feira (8) uma descoberta que contradiz a principal teoria do povoamento da América. Com ajuda da extração de DNA de fósseis enterrados por mais de dez mil anos, ele puderam avaliar o código genético dos fósseis para descobrir quem são nossos antepassados.
Até muito recentemente era praticamente impossível do ponto de vista técnico extrair DNA de ossos muito antigos. Porque no ambiente tropical que a gente vive há a degradação da matéria orgânica de forma geral e isso também se aplica ao DNA. Ela é muito intensa, disse André Strauss, Professor do Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia da USP.
O trabalho foi feito em conjunto pela USP, pela Universidade de Harvard e pelo Instituto Max Planck, da Alemanha. Os cientistas estudaram nove ossadas humanas da região de Lagoa Santa, em Minas Gerais. Dos mesmos sítios arqueológicos de Luzia, a ossada de uma mulher que teria vivido há mais de 11 mil anos e é considerada a primeira brasileira.

Geography
A neighbor of Senegal and Guinea in West Africa, on the Atlantic coast, Guinea-Bissau is about half the size of South Carolina. The country is a low-lying coastal region of swamps, rain forests, and mangrove-covered wetlands, with about 25 islands off the coast. The Bijagos archipelago extends 30 mi (48 km) out to sea.

History
The land now known as Guinea-Bissau was once the kingdom of Gabú, which was part of the larger Mali empire. After 1546 Gabú became more autonomous, and at least portions of the kingdom existed until 1867. The first European to encounter Guinea-Bissau was the Portuguese explorer Nuño Tristão in 1446; colonists in the Cape Verde islands obtained trading rights in the territory, and it became a center of the Portuguese slave trade. In 1879, the connection with the islands was broken.
The African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde (another Portuguese colony) was founded in 1956, and guerrilla warfare by nationalists grew increasingly effective. By 1974 the rebels controlled most of the countryside, where they formed a government that was soon recognized by scores of countries. The military coup in Portugal in April 1974 brightened the prospects for freedom, and in August the Lisbon government signed an agreement granting independence to the province. The new republic took the name Guinea-Bissau.
