Leiden inBeeld: Planetarium Museum Boerhaave, Unity TV. De Leidse Sphaera uit 1670 is tijdens D-Days voor het eerst volledig gerestaureerd te bewonderen. Copernicus zette de wereld op zijn kop met zijn boek waarin hij een planetenmodel met de zon als middelpunt beschreef. Een Rotterdamse burgemeester zag het als zijn taak het gewone volk te overtuigen en liet daartoe in 1670 een enorm planetarium bouwen. Na twee eeuwen van verwaarlozing heeft Museum Boerhaave het afgelopen jaar de vervuilde en aangetastte Leidse Sphaera gerestaureerd. Op zaterdag 19 november is dit oudste planetarium van Nederland weer in al zijn pracht te bewonderen. Hans Hooijmaijers, hoofd collecties en hoofdrestaurator Paul Steenhorst vertellen over het project. Wetenschapsjournalist Govert Schilling geeft een lezing over moderne planetaria.

1. Museum antropologi Volkenkunde.
Disana kita bisa melihat banyak sekali sejarah dari kebudayaan-kebudayaan dari seluruh dunia. Namun, karena keterbatasan durasi video, aku dan Mark hanya bisa merekam budaya dari Indonesia saja :) Kebetulan ada exhibition Bali: Welcome to Paradise loh! Menarik banget ..
2. Museum sejarah ilmiah Boerhaave.
Di museum ini, kita diajak untuk melihat sejarah ilmiah dan fokusnya pada kontribusi Belanda dan Leiden. Lumayan guys alat alat original dari ilmuwan zaman dulu sampai saat ini terkait astronomi, medis dll yang terkenal.
3. Rijks Museum Van Oud Heden.
Ini favoritku guys, karena aku benar benar takjub sama museumnya. Di museum ini, kita bisa melihat secara langsung bagaimana kebudayaan dan kehidupan orang Mesir, Yunani, dan Romawi kuno pada abad Sebelum Masehi/ B.C/ V.Chr (sebelum Nabi Isa a.s dilahirkan). Banyak sekali benda-beda original atau asli yang disimpan di museum ini.

Dutch Thieves Nab Deadly Poison From Museum
Newser reports that a safe containing a deadly curare vial has been stolen in the Netherlands.
The national museum of science and medicine had planned to destroy the deadly poison.
But thieves broke into Leiden's Rijksmuseum Boerhaave and got to it first.
They stole a refrigerator-sized safe holding money and a glass bottle of curare.
Curare is used to poison arrows in tribal hunting.
Now authorities are trying to track down the ancient vial.
The dried-out poison resembles a black sugar cube and is very toxic and can be fatal.

The National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden, housed in the former university hospital (1873)
It was the first ethnographic museum in Europe.
The laboratory Boerhaave, built in 1885 (J. van Lokhorst). The students were taught anatomy and surgical medicine here. The building is now used as offices for the Museum of Ethnology. In front of the building stood a statue of Herman Boerhaave (1668-1738), the statue is now near the University Hospital of Leiden. A part of the building was bombed in WW2.
The Pavilion and garden of the museum of Ethnology in Leiden. As Museum Volkenkunde is housed in Leiden's former academic hospital, this used to be the place where those with contagious diseases were lodged. The Paviljoen has been renovated and the garden is open for public.
