SWISS TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM PART 3
2010.07.30 Lucerne Switzerland (VERKEHRSHAUS MUSEUM). Transportation has always been an important industry in Switzerland, which sits at the Alpine crossroads of Europe. So it shouldn't be surprising that the Schweizerisches Verkehrsmuseum Luzern is among the best of its kind anywhere--as well as being one of the most popular museums in this country of 6 million train, bus, and boat passengers. The transportation museum is on Lucerne's lakefront, beyond the Kursaal (casino) and the grand hotels that dot the tree-lined promenade. The complex has grown over the years, and its major exhibition halls include: Railways. Examples of steam and electric locomotives and railroad cars from different parts of Switzerland over the last 150 years, displayed on more than a kilometer of track. A model railroad shows trains working the Gotthard Pass. Road transportation. Automobiles, engines, horse-drawn coaches, bicycles, and the development of automotive transport in Switzerland. Postal services. A mail-sorting center, an old postal coach, and a large stamp collection. Telecommunications. Telephones, radio, and television, including a TV studio and an amateur radio station. Air and space travel. Antique and modern airplanes (the oldest being a Dufaux biplane from 1910), plus helicopters, Mercury and Gemini space capsules, and an Apollo space suit that was worn on the moon. Shipping. Lake steamers dating back to 1813, model boats, harbor dioramas, and more. Cable railways. Cabins from aerial cableways and working models. Tourism. Displays show the development of the Swiss tourist industry. Swissorama. A 20-minute movie tour of Switzerland on a 360° screen. Planetarium. Lie back and see the stars while your headphones deliver the lecture in English, German, French, or Italian. IMAX Theater. A recent addition, featuring big-budget educational films on a huge screen.
Kolyma - Birthplace of Our Fear

YEREVAN, Armenia: Top sights and attractions of the Pink City (2016)
TURN ON SUBTITLES FOR EXPLANATORY NOTES ABOUT THE SIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS!!
(I am aware of the fact that this video does not have my audio commentary, so I added explanatory subtitles! This was my very first video on YouTube and I have been trying to improve things.)
A weekend in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia
Yerevan is the capital of Armenia, a country located in the Caucasus, bordering Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iran. It is largest city of Armenia as well as one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities.
In addition to this video, also check out my blog post 10 reasons why I fell in love with Yerevan, Armenia:
In this video, you will see Yerevan's most important sights and tourist attractions, including the following:
Republic Square can be considered the main square of Yerevan. The Government House, the History Museum and the National Gallery, the Marriott Hotel and several other government buildings are located on this huge square. Originally designed by Alexander Tamanyan in 1924, Republic Square is the favorite hangout of the locals. With its unique pink neoclassical buildings and the reflecting pool, Republic Square can easily be considered Yerevan’s architectural highlight. What I found remarkable about this square was the unified architectural style – all buildings share the same pink-ish and yellow-ish neoclassical design.
The Cascade is a staircase that connects Yerevan’s center (Kentron) with the Monument neighborhood. It consists of multiple levels and a total of 572 steps. Apart from its architectural magnificence, the Cascade offers sweeping views of the city and, on clear days, mighty Mount Ararat in the background.
The Cafesjian Center for the Arts is an arts museum located within the Cascade complex. It offers a variety of exhibitions and dozens of modern and contemporary sculptures by well-known international sculptors. The sculptures are scattered around Cascade Park, the green area in the lower section of the Cascade complex.

Kiev | Lviv
Distance means so little when someone means so much ????
I am glad I could make this trip possible this year, thank you for spending time and bringing me around to explore your beautiful home country x I hope you had a great time with all the Exeter people who gathered in Ukraine for your big day! (And rightttt we never forget to #bleedgreen ????)
Ukraine gives you a feeling of being elsewhere but in fact it is still in Europe. This place offers superb architecture and a cool foodie scene! I must say Ukraine remains one of the most underrated cities on the continent – it is a very tempting budget friendly destination!
Visitors are easily amazed by the beauty of the different UNESCO World Heritage sites in Ukraine. The Kyevo-Percherska Lavra monastery complex and the grandeur of St Sophia’s Cathedral is extraordinary. I can spend days admiring the medieval frescoes and baroque facades, and watching stunning panoramas from the bell towers (YASS I never get bored from the city views lol).
The candle of national identity burns brightly in Lviv, the occidental civility is being reflected in their outstanding culinary culture. It has fused the traditions of all its communities. This place offers absolute good quality of food, and my diet plan there has ruined completely lol
The bizarre Soviet legacy and the country’s raw history all make up the unexpected travel experiences. This country can definitely come as a surprise even for travel connoisseurs! Yearning for new adventures? Why not considering UKRAINE as your next destination?????

SUMMARY
=======
Kiev ( KEE-ef, -ev) or Kyiv (Ukrainian: Київ, translit. Kyiv [ˈkɪjiu̯] (listen); Russian: Киев, translit. Kiyev [ˈkʲi(j)ɪf]) is the capital and most populous city of Ukraine, located in the north-central part of the country on the Dnieper. The population in July 2015 was 2,887,974 (though higher estimated numbers have been cited in the press), making Kiev the 7th most populous city in Europe.Kiev is an important industrial, scientific, educational and cultural center of Eastern Europe. It is home to many high-tech industries, higher education institutions, and world-famous historical landmarks. The city has an extensive infrastructure and highly developed system of public transport, including the Kiev Metro.
The city's name is said to derive from the name of Kyi, one of its four legendary founders (see Name, below). During its history, Kiev, one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe, passed through several stages of great prominence and relative obscurity. The city probably existed as a commercial centre as early as the 5th century. A Slavic settlement on the great trade route between Scandinavia and Constantinople, Kiev was a tributary of the Khazars, until its capture by the Varangians (Vikings) in the mid-9th century. Under Varangian rule, the city became a capital of the Kievan Rus', the first East Slavic state. Completely destroyed during the Mongol invasions in 1240, the city lost most of its influence for the centuries to come. It was a provincial capital of marginal importance in the outskirts of the territories controlled by its powerful neighbours; first by Lithuania, followed by Poland and ultimately Russia. The city prospered again during the Russian Empire's Industrial Revolution in the late 19th century. In 1917, after the Ukrainian National Republic declared independence from the Russian Empire, Kiev became its capital. From 1921 onwards Kiev was a city of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, which was proclaimed by the Red Army, and, from 1934, Kiev was its capital. During World War II, the city again suffered significant damage, but quickly recovered in the post-war years, remaining the third largest city of the Soviet Union.
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and Ukrainian independence in 1991, Kiev remained the capital of Ukraine and experienced a steady migration influx of ethnic Ukrainians from other regions of the country. During the country's transformation to a market economy and electoral democracy, Kiev has continued to be Ukraine's largest and richest city. Kiev's armament-depen ...

Gradec, Mariovo: Ancient settlement & monastery- 4th century
07.01.2008
Ancient settlement and early christian monastery complex from around 4th-5th century (AD) was found at Gradec in the Mariovo region, Republic of Macedonia
THE HOLOCAUST - WikiVidi Documentary
The Holocaust, also referred to as the Shoah, was a genocide during World War II in which Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany, aided by its collaborators, systematically murdered some six million European Jews, around two-thirds of the Jewish community in Europe. From 1941 to 1945, Germany targeted European Jewry for extermination as part of a larger event that included the persecution and murder of other groups. A broader definition of the Holocaust includes the murder of the Roma and the incurably sick. A broader definition still includes ethnic Poles, other Slavic groups, Soviet citizens and prisoners of war, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, black people, and political opponents. Under the coordination of the SS, with directions from the highest leadership of the Nazi Party, killings were committed throughout German-occupied Europe, as well as within Germany itself, and across all territories controlled by the Axis powers. Germany implemented the persecution in stages. Following Hitler...

Vladimir Mayakovsky
Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky was a Russian Soviet poet, playwright, artist and stage and film actor.
During his early, pre-Revolution period leading into 1917, Mayakovsky became renowned as a prominent figure of the Russian Futurist movement; being among the signers of the Futurist manifesto, A Slap in the Face of Public Taste, and authoring poems such as A Cloud in Trousers and Backbone Flute. Mayakovsky produced a large and diverse body of work during the course of his career: he wrote poems, wrote and directed plays, appeared in films, edited the art journal LEF, and created agitprop posters in support of the Communist Party during the Russian Civil War. Though Mayakovsky's work regularly demonstrated ideological and patriotic support for the ideology of the Communist Party and a strong admiration of Lenin, Mayakovsky's relationship with the Soviet state was always complex and often tumultuous. Mayakovsky often found himself engaged in confrontation with the increasing involvement of the Soviet State in cultural censorship and the development of the State doctrine of Socialist realism. Works that contained criticism or satire of aspects of the Soviet system, such as the poem Talking With the Taxman About Poetry, and the plays The Bedbug and The Bathhouse, were met with scorn by the Soviet state and literary establishment.
