Target Corporation, doing business as Target, is an American retailing company headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is the second-largest discount retailer in the United States, behind Walmart.[5][6] The company is ranked at number 33 on the Fortune 500 as of 2010 and is a component of the Standard & Poor's 500 index. Its bullseye trademark is licensed to Wesfarmers, owners of the separate Target Australia chain.
The company was founded in 1902 as the Dayton Dry Goods Company, though its first Target store was opened in 1962 in nearby Roseville, Minnesota. Target grew and eventually became the largest division of Dayton Hudson Corporation, culminating in the company being renamed as Target Corporation in August 2000. On January 13, 2011, Target announced its expansion into Canada. Target will operate 100 to 150 stores in Canada by 2013, through its purchase of leaseholds from the Canadian chain Zellers.
A parking lot (Commonwealth English: car park), also known as car lot, is a cleared area that is intended for parking vehicles. Usually, the term refers to a dedicated area that has been provided with a durable or semi-durable surface.
In most countries where cars are the dominant mode of transportation, parking lots are a feature of every city and suburban area. Shopping malls, sports stadiums, megachurches and similar venues often feature parking lots of immense area.

This is a lesser known rail line in my home town of lufkin Texas. The line now belongs to Angelina and Neches River Railroad.
Texas Transportation Co
The Texas Transportation Company was a trolley powered freight line with 1.3 miles of track in San Antonio Texas, which served the Pearl and Lone Star Breweries. Pearl bought up Lone Star, leaving Pearl as the only customer. In 1999, Pabst bought Pearl and announced plans to close both the brewery and the rail line, which prompted a visit to Texas to catch the last days of this rare type of freight railroading. Our visit was a few weeks before the final run and we caught a trip to the interchange with plant execs wanting a ride before the end. They made another trip with an empty car, then went back to the plant to do some switching. The railroad ceased running in June, 2000 and the plant closed the following January, bringing an end to an era in Texas railroading. All of the rails and trolley line have since been removed, but motor #2 is plinthed near the plant site.

The Texas Bucket List - Atkinson Candy Company in Lufkin
This Lone Star State gem in Lufkin is sure to delight your sweet tooth. They've been rolling out candy made to withstand the Texas heat since they started back in the 1930s.
The last vintage oil field in Texas (near Corsicana, TX).
When many people think of the Texas oil industry, they often have the impression that there are oil fields out there populated with large numbers of oil derricks. At one time this was true for many of those Texas oil fields and even in some Texas towns such as Kilgore in the 1930's that practically had a forest of oil well derricks within the town limits. However, over time, the derricks came down to the point whereby 1995, when this video was shot, few areas of the Lone Star State had any sizable numbers of the older semi-permanent oil derricks left standing.
One area that avoided this trend, at least into the mid 1990's, was an oil field about ten miles southeast of Corsicana, Texas. There, about 25 derricks survived when this was recorded in November, 1995. Also, a fair amount of vintage oil field equipment existed such as pump jacks and oil tanks. The field here was pretty much silent, but one ancient pump jack beneath a derrick stubbornly continued to earn its' keep with its' up and down movement. UPDATE! As of July, 2016, only old one derrick remains standing. However, the oil field itself seems to be more productive with newer pump jacks in operation.
Eight people killed today on East Texas roads
JASPER AND TYLER COUNTIES- by Haley BullBoth lanes of Highway 96 in Jasper County are open tonight hours after a fatal collision, a tragic end to a deadly day on the roads in East Texas. A total of 8 people, including children, are dead from two separate crashes. There were no survivors from the first crash on Highway 69 near Colmesneil. Troopers called it an extremely complex investigation. Troopers said about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, two vehicles collided head on near County Road 3205, off Highway 69. The wreck involved two passenger vehicles and shut down the highway for hours in both directions. At this time, the identities of the people involved have not been released.About an hour later, a two vehicle crash on Highway 96 at County Road 601 north of Buna killed an elderly woman and child and injured a young girl. Troopers said Ethel Lorenz, 74, of Buna turned left into a crossover, but failed to yield the right of way, pulled out and was hit by the driver of a Toyota Tundra, towing a trailer, traveling south. Troopers said the impact caused both vehicles to rollover and come to rest in a field. Troopers said Lorenz and her 8-year old passenger both died at the scene. Her second passenger, a 9-year old girl, was flown by medical helicopter to a Houston hospital. Troopers said the driver of the Toyota, Dennis Williams of Beaumont, and his two passengers were taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.Trooper Stephanie Davis tells KFDM News in all her years with the DPS, this day with eight people dead in two crashes, is unusual. While troopers investigate the crashes, they are also reminding the countless drivers traveling on highways to be cautious.I think, just like we always say, there are several tips that you can take. Not saying that these were any type of contributing factors to these crashes that happened earlier today, but I think number one we can always put our cell phones away. And to lessen those distractions will always lesson our chances of being involved in a crash, Davis said. I think also when you're looking at driving on multiple lane roads and things of that nature, make sure you have a great following distance, you're not riding each others bumpers. Also, just a lot of times you need to drive defensively. Just pay attention to what's going on around you and other drivers.
Baldwin 108 Tribute
Originally San Augustine County Lumber Company #108 and later became Angelina and Neches River Railroad #108 until 1954 when it was sold to the Reader Railroad. Acquired from the Reader Railroad, 108 operated on the Conway Scenic from 1976 to 1986, when it was retired due to mechanical issues and the engine not being powerful enough to pull on steep grades. The engine was sold shortly after and sat on display in North Conway unprotected from the elements going through different ownership until 1999, when it was sold to Rannoch Corporation who moved it back to its home state of Texas, where it was stored on the Blacklands Railroad and disassembled. One of the last times 108 was seen in operation was when it pulled ex-MEC 501 out of the round house on Railfan's Weekend in September 1986. It also had the honor of being featured in the Martin Scorsese film, Boxcar Bertha. Now owned by Robbins Rail Museum of Alabama, 108 still resides in Texas in pieces, awaiting restoration.

An Early History of Lufkin State Supported Living Center
At the time, the story was well reported and those who were there knew it well. Time, however, scattered those people and fragmented the memory. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Lufkin State Supported Living Center, this documentary seeks to reconnect those memories.
An Early History of Lufkin State Supported Living Center features interviews with Lufkin State School's first employee and Superintendent, W. W. 'Billy' Beaver and Paul Mayberry, 2nd administrative employee, talking about their early days at LfSSLC.
