Travel Story Ep19 Paraguay Ambassador's Trip to Taean and Buyeo
Paraguay Ambassador's Trip to Taean and Buyeo
Ceferino Valdez, Ambassador of Paraguay to Korea, loves Korea as much as Koreans do. His business card even has his Korean name, Park Dae-soo. Mr. Valdez has worked in Korea for nearly 14 years, the longest term ever since Paraguay and Korea established diplomatic ties in 1962. What makes Korea so attractive to him? Mr. Valdez says he was impressed by Korea's natural landscape and its dynamic society and people.
Whenever he has time, Mr. Valdez likes to travel around Korea. He says he is happy when he meets people while traveling. The most memorable place for him is Taean. When he just took office in December 2007, he visited Taean to help locals cope with the worst oil spill in Korea's history. Back then he didn't even know where Taean was; he just wanted to lend a helping hand along with some 1.2 million volunteers who did what they could to revive the sea. That was Mr. Valdez's first official duty in Korea. Now, he returns to Taean for the first time in six years. Have the efforts of so many people succeeded in breathing new life into the sea and the land?
Taean is also where Mr. Valdez met a young Korean who used to teach taekwondo in Paraguay as a volunteer. Now he is a P.E. teacher at an elementary school in his hometown of Buyeo. He organizes a trip to Buyeo for Mr. Valdez, who used to teach history back in Paraguay. Will Mr. Valdez's trip to this historic city help him learn about Korea's history and discover another charm?

Curators provide indispensable knowledge but, in recent years, have had to strike a balance between advancing their academic interests while taking into consideration community needs and contemporary and conflictive public debates. Curators will reflect on their current role and how curatorial practice is changing.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
Santiago ( , Spanish: [sanˈtjaɣo], literally Saint-James), also known as Santiago de Chile, is the capital and largest city of Chile as well as one of the largest cities in the Americas. It is the center of Chile's largest and most densely populated conurbation, the Santiago Metropolitan Region, whose total population is 7 million. The city is entirely located in the country's central valley. Most of the city lies between 500 m (1,640 ft) and 650 m (2,133 ft) above mean sea level.
Founded in 1541 by the Spanish conqueror Pedro de Valdivia, Santiago has been the capital city of Chile since colonial times. The city has a downtown core of 19th-century neoclassical architecture and winding side-streets, dotted by art deco, neo-gothic, and other styles. Santiago's cityscape is shaped by several stand-alone hills and the fast-flowing Mapocho River, lined by parks such as Parque Forestal. The Andes Mountains can be seen from most points in the city. These mountains contribute to a considerable smog problem, particularly during winter. The city outskirts are surrounded by vineyards and Santiago is within an hour of both the mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
Santiago is the cultural, political and financial center of Chile and is home to the regional headquarters of many multinational corporations. The Chilean executive and judiciary are located in Santiago, but Congress meets mostly in nearby Valparaíso. Santiago is named after the biblical figure St. James. Santiago will host the 2023 Pan American Games.
