Aerial Firefighting Demonstration Avalon Airshow 2015
During the 2015 Australian International Airshow, the Friday night show was quite unique.
On show where some of the aerial firefighting assets that were in the country hired out at the disposal of the Victorian and New South Wales state governments to help fight any major fire that may threaten in the Australian region during the bushfire season.
On display was the Rockwell Aero Commander, operated by AGAIR Logistics as 'Birddog376', used as a support and supervision aircraft for Large Tanker Operations.
Lockheed C-130Q Hercules of Coulson Aviation, 'Bomber390' which can hold up to 15,000 litres of retardant, along with Conair's British Aerospace Avro RJ85 'Bomber162', which is a converted BAE-146 airliner, which can hold an impressive 11,000 litres of retardant, both of which are contracted out by the Victorian State Government, showed the Avalon crowd what it takes to operate these large aircraft at low level to help stamp out any fire threats.

Glastar GS-1 - Flying over Wyoming
Took this video while ferrying a Glastar GS-1 from Chicago, IL to American Falls, ID (C09-U01) and was somewhere over Wyoming just west of the Rattlesnake Hills on my last leg of a long day. I managed the flight in one day flying sunrise to sunset in about 12.2 hour on the airplane. It was built in 2004 and runs with a Subaru 170hp automotive engine so it was a little bit different compared to what I am used to flying. Nice airplane though!

There's more to the story than whats written.
Killed on impact were Lt. Col. Paul Mikeal, 42, of Mooresville, Maj. Joseph McCormick, 36, of Belmont, Maj. Ryan David, 35 of Boone, and Senior Master Sgt. Robert Cannon, 50, of Charlotte.
Investigators said the plane flew into a severe down-draft of wind called a 'microburst' that originated from a thunderstorm near where the crew was attempting to dump retardant on a wild fire.
After making their first pass, investigators said the crew was aware of turbulent weather and struggled with an unexplained drop in air speed.
California Wildfires continue to spread across state
Two major fires, Woolsey Fire in southern California and Camp Fire, to the north, continue to threaten homes and residents in the state.
Nine people are thought to have died, and more than 150,000 have fled affected areas. The fires have spread rapidly due to strong winds.
One of the towns affected is Thousand Oaks, the site of a mass shooting which killed 12 people on Wednesday.

Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer
The Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer is a World War II and Korean War era patrol bomber of the United States Navy derived from the Consolidated B-24 Liberator. The Navy had been using unmodified B-24s as the PB4Y-1 Liberator, and the type was considered very successful. A fully navalized design was desired, and Consolidated developed a dedicated long-range patrol bomber in 1943, designated PB4Y-2 Privateer. In 1951, the series was redesignated P4Y-2 Privateer. A further change occurred in October 1962 when remaining Navy Privateers were redesignated QP-4B.
